Today I proudly attended the 2026 Graduation Ceremony of RWTH Aachen University, a milestone that represents years of hard work, sacrifice, and dedication by students and their families. While the achievement itself was worth celebrating, I was disappointed by the event arrangements. Attendees were charged €35 per adult and €17.50 per child, plus advance booking fees. The event ran from approximately 10:00 AM until 5:30 PM, yet no complimentary water, beverages, or even light snacks were provided to graduates or their guests. There were numerous food and café stalls throughout the venue, but every item had to be purchased separately. For a full-day graduation event attended by families, children, elderly relatives, and international guests, it was surprising that not even basic refreshments were included. Graduation is not just another event—it is a once-in-a-lifetime celebration of students' achievements and the support of their families. Providing something as simple as drinking water or a small complimentary refreshment would have demonstrated appreciation for those who invested their time, effort, and money to be part of this special occasion. The ceremony itself was memorable, but the overall experience left me with the impression that attendee comfort and hospitality were not given the attention they deserved. I sincerely hope future graduation ceremonies place greater emphasis on the experience of graduates and their families, ensuring that such an important milestone is celebrated with the care and respect it deserves.
