I recently visited Abba Restaurant in Varkala and was quite impressed with several aspects of the dining experience. One of the highlights for me was their variety of vegetarian options, which are thoughtfully prepared and flavorful. The food overall was good — fresh, well-seasoned, and enjoyable. While some dishes stood out more than others, the menu offers a decent range of choices, ensuring there’s something for everyone. That said, there is room for improvement when it comes to service. While the staff were generally polite, they could be more attentive and responsive to customer needs. Overall, Abba Restaurant offers tasty food, especially for vegetarian diners, in a comfortable setting.

ABBA is truly my FAVOURITE restaurant in Varkala. I go here literally every day. The food, service and atmosphere are absolutely outstanding. The whole crew is incredibly helpful and friendly. Santu is such a fantastic waiter, he knows exactly what I like and how I like it. He’s always serving with a smile. So helpful and kind! I absolutely love how he always brings me my favourite drink as soon as I sit down at the table. Makes me feel welcome and happy the moment I enter. Same goes for Dineesh, Sahil, Pateek, Ram, Raj, Krishna, Sanju, Sahil, Santos and everyone else at ABBA. They just feel like such a warm group of people, really friendly and always ready to make you feel comfortable at the place. The food is always fresh and so delicious. They use really good ingredients and the taste is fantastic. I literally can’t stop raving about this place. Oh, and the desserts are incredible!! Highly recommend eating out in the best restaurant in Varkala ! 🥗🍽️🙏🏼

Abba’s Restaurant in Varkala has a very nice seaside view. I tried the grilled chicken, but I did not like it. The chicken tasted stale and not fresh. The chicken tikka was okay, but nothing special. I also had a watermelon ginger juice, but the ginger taste was too strong and spoiled the watermelon flavor for me. Overall, the view is the best part of this restaurant. The food needs improvement. It is good for the location, but not great for food.

I had high hopes for this restaurant. They barely have any vegetarian breakfast options. They don't even have them identified as veg/non veg. We tried to order a breakfast combo which included scrambled eggs along with Croissant, hash browns, fried mushroom and coffee. When we asked them to exclude the eggs, they said it would be chargeable regardless. We had to oblige. For 350 rupees, you would think the food would be good. But you would be wrong. The croissant wasn't a croissant at all. It was just bread. Hash browns were nowhere close to being hash browns, rather just cut up fried potato in some masala. Coffee was adequate. We also ordered Grilled cheese, Avocado Sandwich and a club sandwich because there honestly weren't any other options. The bread was a ragi bread which was extremely dense and impossible to chew. The crusts were hard as rock. All the breads severed were almost dense and tough. The only thing that we ended up liking were their smoothies and juices. Watermelon mint and Avocado banana smoothie were good and refreshing. I understand that the breads were supposed to be healthy alternatives. But when you're serving something, the least it can be is edible. Utterly disappointed considering the pricey menu they have here. Visit here at your own risk if you're a vegetarian.

One of the best restaurants on North Cliff. We ended up having dinner here on both nights of our stay-that says it all. The vibe is relaxed and welcoming, the food is delicious, and the prices are very reasonable. A special shout-out to the incredibly helpful staff, always attentive and ready to assist. Truly a lovely place to dine

I had breakfast and lunch at Abba Varkala in May 2026. The breakfast which we ordered had Olive Sandwich and Chocolate Pancake, which were good. I also had an English breakfast which was good and filling. I was a disappointed with the lunch. We ordered burgers which were decent. The fish curry was not well made, in fact the fish curry and veg korma had same gravy. Dal fry was good. The momos and the Thupka that we ordered were delicious but the lasagne and Beef Strongnoff were disappointing. Overall it was breakfast was good but lunch was just about ok. The staff is friendly and the place is well made. It is otherwise a nice place to sit and enjoy the sea.

The food was decent, and the prices were slightly lower compared to other cafés on Varkala Cliff. We ordered a beef sizzler, chicken sizzler, burger, and pasta. While most dishes were good, the beef sizzler was a bit overcooked. The café has dining spaces facing the beach, which is a lovely setting, but since all those tables were reserved, we had to dine in their garden area instead

We visited Abba on a weekday, and even though it was quite busy, the staff was impressive and got us seated quickly. The seaside location and ambience are definitely the highlights here—perfect for a relaxed evening. Unfortunately, the food and drinks didn't live up to the setting. We started with the calamari, which was decent but nothing special. The seafood platter was a major disappointment; it lacked flavor, the portion sizes were small, and there was barely any rice. To top it off, the Long Island Iced Tea felt watered down. The mojito was okay, but overall, you’re paying for the view rather than the menu. Go for the sunset, but maybe skip the heavy meal.

Whoever has given low ratings have a little bias I feel, or externally motivated to do so. This place is amazing beyond all expectations, The food, The quantity, the service, the politeness of the staff is unparalleled. I have had food here for 5+ Days I can certify that this is my go to place whenever I am in Varkala the next time. Wouldn't even think twice. Mr Ram, Mr Raj and Surinder Ji, all of them deserve a big raise if the owner is seeing this, true gems as human beings. Thank you for having me here and giving me such lovely food. Lots of love

Tried a variety of dishes everything was good and well-flavoured. The real highlight, though, was the view. It was absolutely damn good and made the whole dining experience even better. A great spot to enjoy tasty food along with a beautiful setting. Would definitely recommend!

Literally the BEST place to be on the cliff. The food is delicious, plenty of choices of Indian and international food, fast and consistent. I have no words of the waiters and people working, they are amazing, taking care of everything, super polite and friendly. All the boys are precious and especially, Santosh. The view to the ocean is beautiful any time of the day. Last but not least, they accept credit card payment without extra charge. I highly recommend it. Grateful to be a regular 🙃

I went to this place twice - lunch and dinner. Lunch was disappointing. The seafood fried rice? Not good. Prawn chilli was just okay. Nothing special. But dinner was a different story. I ordered tandoori, prawn curry Kerala style, and naan. Much better. The food tasted good, and eating by candlelight with the beach in front of u, that's the real experience here. Here's the thing abt the beach view tables, they're amazing for dinner but terrible for lunch. Too much sun, too hot. U'll be sweating into ur food. So my advice? Skip this place for lunch. Come back for dinner, grab a beach view table, and enjoy ur meal with the sea breeze and candles. That's when it actually feels worth it.

Abba Restaurant has good food, but the service experience was disappointing. I really enjoyed the grilled fish and chicken—both were well cooked and flavorful. However, the moussaka was quite average and didn’t live up to expectations. The biggest drawback was the staff behavior. They came across as rude and not very responsive. There was also a noticeable bias in how foreign tourists were treated compared to Indian guests, which felt uncomfortable and unprofessional. With better customer service and more consistent hospitality, this place could offer a much better overall experience. The Apple crumble was decent as well.

Abba Restaurant & Everest German Bakery is one of my favorite breakfast spots ❤️ The food is really tasty, healthy, and very affordable. The view is absolutely amazing, making it a perfect place to relax and enjoy a peaceful meal. Their in-house prepared cheesecakes are a must-try – freshly made every morning and super yummy 🤍 Everything feels fresh and well prepared. Totally a worth-it spot for good food, great vibes, and a beautiful view. Loved this place and will definitely visit again! 🌄🍰

Varkala beach eateries can get very busy after sunset. The good thing is that this place has a lot of sitting and extended open sitting. We were seated under a canopy that had ceiling fans. In December that made for a very pleasant sitting from a temperature point of view. There was no music, but the din of having a large number of guests doesn't bother much given the open sitting. The service is relatively very fast given the number of guests. However, it can get hard to get the attention of the servers. However, when you do speak to them, they are very polite and very efficient. The food isn't particularly great. The place has a very large menu and almost everything that we ordered was average. But given the number of guests, that is actually quite commendable. You wouldn't be amazed by the food, but you won't be very disappointed either.

ABBA restaurant is one of the finest dining places on Varkala clifftop. You would notice a large number of people dining there. We dinned there and trust me the taste of the food delivered was wonderful. Service was quick. PS:- Highly Recommended for Breakfast/ Dining.

We had breakfast and dinner at ABBA for almost every meal, when we stayed in Varkala for 7 days. At some point we kind of had to force ourselves to try other places, but eventually we always came back here, because this is the best😊 Super friendly service, view on the cliff, extremely fair prices compared to the other places and you could just taste that the food was fresh and homemade. Thank you to Ram, Thapa, Raju, Surendra, Shevathaband Shohi (I hope I spelled all the names correctly, it’s a bit tricky haha) for making us feel so welcome every day😊🙌🏻

I came to Varkala for just one day and decided to visit a café that my friends had recommended. The place left me with mixed impressions. The food was very delicious, but I was disappointed that the café didn’t have a separate non-smoking area. At lunchtime, it was extremely hot, and a group sat down at the neighboring table—it would’ve been easier to say who among them wasn’t smoking (just one person). I understand that they may not care about their own health, but the cloud of smoke was drifting straight toward me. It became impossible to continue enjoying my meal. I had to ask the staff to move me to a table farther away. Because of this, the overall impression of the food was spoiled. It was my first time in Varkala, and I hope the staff will take this into account and create a separate area for smokers. P.S. I hope you’ll have better luck than I did and be able to enjoy the food without cigarette smoke.

Honestly there are some staffs who are good and other staffs are very bad. Specially the one who are inside near counter the owner is best. Moreover food was not up to mark. As chicken thika was sour chicken was less and capsicum was more in that. Rice was best and dal was good and tandoori was good. Atmosphere is best either evening or night. And one more bad thing is that some staffs ask for tips like for Diet Coke it costed me 50 and pineapple juice was 130 and over all dinner bill was 750 for 2 members.
