The person who manage this place is a total scammer. He charged 5 riyal for parking. And 5 riyal per person for entrance to the masjid. It’s madness. 1st time i have to pay 5 riyal to enter a masjid and a historic Islamic place. Even Abdullah Ibn Abbas mosque is free to enter to perform prayer. I really hope action will be taken to the people who manage this place. Thanks.

When the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ came to Ṭā’if, he did not come seeking honor, wealth, or shelter. He came carrying a heart heavy with grief having just lost Khadijah (رضي الله عنها), his greatest comfort, and Abu Talib, his shield in a hostile world. Makkah had closed its doors to him. So he walked to Ṭā’if, step after step, with hope trembling quietly in his chest. But Ṭā’if answered him with stones. Children were incited. Slaves were ordered. Mobs followed him through the streets. Stones struck his blessed body until his sandals filled with blood. Each step hurt, yet he did not curse. He did not scream. He did not retaliate. He only moved forward until his strength finally gave way. Wounded, bleeding, exhausted in body and soul, he found refuge in a garden belonging to Utbah and Shaybah, enemies who watched him from afar. There, under the shade of vines, the Prophet ﷺ raised his hands not to complain to people, but to Allah. That duʿāʾ still trembles hearts today. “O Allah, to You I complain of my weakness, my lack of resources, and my humiliation before people…” The heavens listened. Inside that garden was Addās a young Christian slave from Nineveh, the city of Prophet Yunus (عليه السلام). His masters, though hostile to the Prophet ﷺ, felt a flicker of pity and told Addās to take a plate of grapes to the wounded stranger. Addās approached quietly. The Prophet ﷺ took a grape and said softly: “Bismillāh.” Addās stopped. Those words simple, gentle were foreign in Ṭā’if. “By God,” Addās said, astonished, “the people of this land do not say such words.” The Prophet ﷺ looked at him not with suspicion, not with superiority but with warmth. “Where are you from, Addās?” “From Nineveh.” “The city of Yunus ibn Matta?” the Prophet ﷺ asked. Addās’ heart shook. “No one here knows Yunus,” he said in disbelief. “He was my brother,” the Prophet ﷺ replied, “a Prophet of Allah and so am I.” In that instant, something broke inside Addās not pain, but truth breaking through centuries of distance. Here stood a man rejected by his people, bleeding, alone yet speaking the language of prophets. Addās fell forward and kissed the Prophet’s ﷺ head, hands, and feet. Not out of ritual. Not out of fear. But out of recognition. His masters shouted, angry and confused, but Addās turned back and said words history would never forget: “There is nothing on this earth better than this man.” Later, when the Prophet ﷺ returned to Ṭā’if years afterward, that place was remembered not for stones, but for Addās’ faith. A small mosque was built there: Masjid-e-Addās. It is not large. It does not boast minarets touching the sky. But it stands as a silent witness. A witness that: Truth is sometimes recognized first by the humble Mercy can bloom in the middle of cruelty And even on the worst day of a Prophet’s life, Allah sent him one believing heart to say: “You are not alone.” Masjid-e-Addās is not just a mosque. It is a reminder that when the world throws stones, Allah may send one soul with grapes and faith and that can be enough to heal a broken heart.

Masjid Addas is a historic mosque in Taif associated with the visit of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to Taif, where he endured rejection and hardship from the local people. It is believed to mark the area where the Prophet ﷺ met Addas, a Christian servant from Nineveh, who was deeply moved by his character and message. The mosque serves as a reminder of patience, faith, and perseverance during difficult times. Although it remains an important Islamic heritage site and a popular stop on Taif ziyarat routes, the mosque is currently closed to the general public, and visitors can usually view it only from the outside.

This is a lovely and historical place to visit in Taif. The mosque is situated inside a farm. There is a narrow path to go there but its a good experience. Definitely visit as its an important part of Islamic history. The mosque is built on the spot where Mr. Addas’s house was situated. He helped Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) during his hardship in taif and provided him with some fruits and shelter. There are fruit sellers around the mosque selling fresh and delicious fruits like grapes, apricots, berries. The atmosphere is very good and you can pray inside the mosque.

🕌 Masjid Addas – A Humble Sanctuary of Mercy in Taif A small yet profoundly meaningful mosque built at the place where Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, wounded and weary from being rejected in Taif (Shawwal, 10 AH), found shelter in a vineyard. A Christian slave boy named Addas offered him grapes, and upon hearing the Prophet say “Bismillah”, instantly recognized his prophethood and embraced Islam—making this Masjid a symbol of kindness, humility, and divine guidance . ✨ Why Visit? Historic & Spiritual Moment: Stand at the exact spot of a heartwarming encounter that highlights the Prophet’s mercy and Allah’s swift acceptance . First Convert in Taif: Addas, originally from Nineveh, became the first Taifian convert through this event . Peaceful, Green Ambience: Nestled within old grape orchards, the mosque offers a soothing, verdant setting ideal for prayer and reflection .

When the Prophet ﷺ visited Taif to invite the people to Islam, the chiefs rejected him and even encouraged children and servants to throw stones at him. He ﷺ was injured, tired, and bleeding. He took refuge in a private orchard (garden) owned by Utbah and Shaybah, two brothers from Quraysh. Feeling sympathy, they sent their young Christian servant Addas to take grapes to the Prophet ﷺ. ✨ The Miracle with Addas When Addas offered grapes, the Prophet ﷺ said: “Bismillah” (In the name of Allah) Addas was surprised because people in that region didn’t use this phrase. He asked: “Where did you learn these words?” Then a beautiful conversation happened: The Prophet ﷺ told him he was a Prophet of Allah. He mentioned Prophet Yunus (Jonah). Addas said he was from Nineveh, the land of Yunus. The Prophet ﷺ replied, “He was my brother. He was a Prophet, and I am also a Prophet.” Hearing this, Addas immediately believed in the Prophet ﷺ, kissed his head, hands, and feet, and accepted Islam. This is considered one of the most touching moments of mercy and dawah in the Prophet’s life.

Addaas was the servant of owner of this grape baug. This is said to be the place where there was a grape baug where prophet(pbuh) took refuge when he was injured during his visit to Taif. Addaas was the one who had presented grapes to prophet on orders from his masters. Upon interaction with prophet, he accepted Islam even before his masters.

Alhamdullah i visited taif on 21 April 2025 and Visited Addas Mosque on same day One of the sacred places within the vicinity of Al Mathnah, Masjid Addas was built on what was believed to be Addas's house. Addas was the slave of Utbah bin Rabiah, who fed the Prophet SAW with grapes when he stopped in Utbah's orchard after he and his companion, Zaid bin Harithah were chased out by Taif's dwellers.

This Masjid is constructed within the farms of grapes. Perhaps the very place where Nabi Kareem Sallallahu Alaihi wasallam took rest in extremely injured condition after the assault by infidels. The Masjid is small in size and surrounded by a boundary wall. You find so many fruit sellers outside the Masjid with most of them selling grapes. The passage that takes you to Masjid is a very narrow lane. The nearest main road takes you Masjid e Ali ibn e Abi Talib that may be termed as the nearest landmark.
