Worst management, we made booking through makemytrip. Checkin was available at only 2pm, why can't you provide checkin early. The manager at the desk, completely arrogant and you can see the tobacco stains all over his teeth. We are not from Chennai and came for an important purpose. They told they'll provide checkin only at 2pm. We sat in the lobby. That tobacco manager came and asked us not to sit in lobby too. Rooms were good, no complaints, the desk manager is spoiling the reputation of the hotel. Higher authorities please remove such kind of arrogant desk manager who don't know who to treat customers. Money is not the problem, we can pay extra for early checkin, there is a way to treat customers hospitably. If not, please put a disclaimer that our manager treats customers like beggars and dogs. I'm satisfied with the room maintenance and ambience, but for the managers behaviour and arrogance, I would never recommend anyone to visit this hotel. Someone who's not from chennai or tamilnadu, don't visit this hotel, if rooms are not available anywhere, use waiting room or sleeping rooms of railways. This manager at desk will spoil your whole mood.

Don't be surprised by seeing 1 star rating. As people are giving 5 star. I have given very fare rating. 1- WiFi if you want WiFi than please forget because they have wifi but no internet. If you ask them simple answer tower problem. I really dint understand from which tower they are getting internet. 2 - Staff is very attitude. They behave like they are doing meharbani on you by giving room in their hotel to stay . You speak to them any problem they will answer like who care . We dint told you to come and stay in our hotel. 3 - Check-in experience better be prepared if you are coming early they will not give you room because they have policy that you will get room after 2pm not before that. 4 - Amenities Ac is there but if you want than you have to call reception than they will start from outside. Water geyser is there but if you want to use than call reception than they will start from outside. 5 Rooms are good neat and clean location is good .

Very Nice Experience. The location of the Hotel is very close to the Central Railway Station (5 Minutes Walk). The rooms are compact in size but well maintained and neat in all respects. Thank you for meeting the expectations 😊🙏

The quality of service is below average. Charged Rs 1800/- for single room. TV was not working and called them several time nobody attended the issue. From Check in to Check out the issue was not resolved. Room is neat and clean. They kept one dental kit inside bathroom but it was only box of dental kit and nothing was inside. Hope they will improve the service.

I stayed at Hotel AKMG, Chennai for two nights, and my experience was quite pleasant. The biggest plus of this hotel is its location. It’s very close to Chennai Central Railway Station, and the Central Metro station is just a short walk away, which made moving around the city super easy. If you’re coming by train or planning to use the metro, this place is really convenient. The room was clean, neat, and comfortable. Nothing fancy, but everything you need for a good stay was there. The bed was comfortable, the room felt fresh, and housekeeping maintained it well during my stay. After a long day of travel and sightseeing, it was nice to come back to a clean and calm room. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the check-in/check-out process was smooth. They were approachable and made sure things were comfortable without any unnecessary hassle. Despite being close to a busy area, the hotel felt quiet and safe, which I really appreciated. Overall, it felt like good value for money, especially because of the location and cleanliness. I would definitely recommend Hotel AKMG to travelers looking for a simple, clean, and well-located stay near Chennai Central. Would happily stay here again on my next visit.

Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to formally complain about the unacceptable conduct of your hotel manager, Mr. Prakash, during my stay at Hotel AKMG, Chennai. Apart from poor cleanliness and unsatisfactory service, I experienced rude behavior and dishonesty from the manager. When I requested to extend my stay, Mr. Prakash informed me that no rooms were available, which I later found to be untrue. This was clearly misleading. To clarify the situation further, we vacated the room by 1:00 PM, well within reasonable checkout expectations. Later in the evening, around 6:00 PM, while we were sitting quietly in the hotel balcony / waiting area waiting for our train, Mr. Prakash appeared annoyed and spoke to us rudely, making us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable, despite the fact that we were not causing any disturbance. This behavior shows a complete lack of basic hospitality and professionalism. With rude communication, false information, and intolerance toward guests, it is not possible to run a hospitality business properly. I request you to personally look into this matter and take necessary corrective action so that future guests do not face such treatment. Regards, Virendra Surse

The front desk team was unprofessional and unhelpful. Instead of a welcoming check-in process, I was met with a dismissive attitude that set a negative tone for the rest of my stay Extra Bed Issues: I requested an extra bed, but the quality provided was substandard and extremely uncomfortable. Furthermore, it took multiple follow-ups with your staff before it was even brought to the room. As a paying guest, I expected basic hospitality and efficiency, neither of which were provided. I hope you take this feedback seriously to ensure other travelers do not encounter the same frustrations.

Rooms are very cramped, no place to move, just to stay it was good and near to railway station that was the only good thing. Kept no smoking signs, but there is nothing like that. It's way too expensive for those rooms.

I stayed at this hotel for three days. The location is quite good, although it is in a congested lane which made access a bit difficult. I was disappointed by the lack of room service. I had to ask for water multiple times and even visited the reception twice, but still did not receive any. Additionally, I requested the geyser to be turned on for hot water, but it never was, which meant my family had to bathe with cold water. Overall, this experience was very disappointing and did not meet our expectations. Family should avoid this EDIT : Just to add more, I haven't get single bottle from hotel. 03 Nov 2025

Must-Read Review (Online & Offline – No Bias) This review is for anyone planning to stay here, whether booking online or offline. Online Booking – Important Points If you want an AC room, do NOT book the Standard Room (especially via Agoda). The listing mentions Air Conditioning under amenities, which is misleading. Always confirm with reception or call beforehand. Check-in & Check-out timing difference is crucial: Online booking: Check-in at 2 PM, Check-out at 12 PM Offline (walk-in) booking: Instant check-in and 24-hour stay That’s the real reason for the price difference. Staff Behavior (Main Issue) Staff behavior is noticeably worse if you book online, possibly because they don’t get extra money. My experience: I first visited the hotel without booking and was quoted a high price but with instant check-in + 24-hour checkout. As a customer, I naturally chose a better online deal. Due to misleading descriptions, I accidentally booked the wrong room online. When I arrived at 9 AM: Staff initially said there was no booking, even though I had just booked. I asked to wait in the lobby — no response. After standing there awkwardly for 5 minutes, they finally confirmed the booking. I requested early check-in but was told online timing applies. Worst part: I was told I couldn’t sit in the lobby for more than 1 hour, which was very strange and happened to me for the first time. I had no option but to roam the city and return at 2 PM for check-in. Room & Amenities (Positive Part) To be fair: Rooms are clean and well-maintained Provided toiletries, water bottle, Wi-Fi, dental kit No complaints about room quality Management Issues Poor management No response to room calls Overall attitude towards online-booking guests is disappointing Final Verdict Rooms are good, but management and staff behavior need serious improvement, especially towards online customers. Book only after confirming room type, AC availability, and policies directly with the hotel. Unfiltered and honest review from a customer’s point of view.

I stayed at this hotel for five days. The Location is good near by central railway station, I was disappointed room bed line, Both towels and washroom cleaning very worst condition wash room fittings and dirty line's ,They leave the room without changing the bed sheet and pillow cover they used. The whole room is dusty, the windows are broken, there is no blanket, they keep a bed sheet instead. Even when the person at the reception talks, he puts tobacco in his mouth and doesn't give you a proper answer to anything you ask, instead telling you to give him the manager's phone number and talk to him.Even when I was checking out and leaving, the person at the reception didn't even take the key properly. The person who was cleaning the glass old man came to me and took the key and asked if I had taken everything from the room and sent me away. Hot water also did not come properly in the room.The boys who work in housekeeping get along well....

We had traveled to Chennai for some work and we requested the management for the early check in the management was so bad and unprofessional. The customer care was also useless and couldn’t help us with the problem we had. The AC in the rooms were stinking and when we asked for the refund they were not ready to give it. The room was fine but the management was very very bad and unprofessional. The location is also not safe for people who are new to Chennai.

Crap hotel. They charge a lot for a room that has an unclean carpet and bugs. Heater wasn’t working the next morning. The blanket was a bedsheet. I found everything slightly dirty in my room. Although the location and last minute booking was convenient, I don’t recommend this hotel.

I had originally booked a non-AC room and requested an upgrade at the time of check-in. The staff agreed and mentioned it would cost an additional ₹1000. When I handed over my card for payment, they charged ₹2000 instead, later claiming it was ₹1000 per day for the AC room. They did not provide any bill for the extra charges, and when I asked, both the receptionist and the room boy rudely said, “If you want to stay, stay, otherwise go to a different hotel—we can’t give you a refund.” I had booked the room for 2 days and 2 nights, but I checked in only at midnight on Thursday. Despite my repeated requests, they refused to provide the bill for the additional payment. The behavior of these two staff members was completely unprofessional and unacceptable for the hospitality industry. They never checked on me, never offered any assistance, and showed zero courtesy. The property itself is decent, but the staff’s attitude was very disappointing.

Location is best part , even in rain I just crossed road and I am in railway station, if early morning train u have ,no need to search for autos and fear of missing train. Room are ok but bathroom are bit congested, ac room are satisfactory nothing special , for 3ppl they gave extra mattress Chekin is from login time to 24 hrs which is good as train come at any time, but only if u come personally and get room , not if u book online then chekin at 12. Took cash for payment , but I think could have reduced amount a bit as they took taxes also with no bill.

I travelled along with my wife and stayed just one day. Excellent hospitality, great staff. Hotel is very clean, neat and tidy. Railway station is just 3 minutes walk surrounding good hotels for food. Overall we enjoyed our stay. At last I just wanted to say our stay was very comfort in the hotel.

Decent but misleading images of rooms. In reality rooms aren’t 144 square feet for sure. Ac rooms at 2000 per night a bit costly when it comes to amenities. Better to decrease the charges for such rooms. Stains in towels and bedsheet.

I booked my stay at AKMG Hotel in Chennai, and it was an excellent experience. The rooms were very clean and well-maintained, and the overall atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming. The staff were extremely humble and helpful throughout my stay. A special thanks to Satish for his exceptional service and friendly attitude that made the experience even better. Highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Chennai!
