Kids loved it, good experience to escape the city

Al Wathba, located in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, is a unique natural destination known for its rich biodiversity and geological formations, making it an ideal spot for nature lovers and adventurers. Al Wathba Wetland Reserve: Established by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, it was the first protected area in the emirate. Once a sabkha (salt flat), it has transformed into a mix of natural and artificial lakes, hosting over 250 bird species, including around 4,000 flamingos during autumn and spring. Visitors can explore walking trails of 1.5 and 3 kilometers to observe birds and enjoy nature. Al Wathba Fossil Dunes Reserve: Located 45 kilometers east of Abu Dhabi, this site features more than 1,700 fossil dunes spread across 7 square kilometers. These geological formations are estimated to be over four million years old. Visitors can enjoy a 3-kilometer illuminated walking trail, light and music shows, and visitor center facilities. “Rimal” Area at Sheikh Zayed Festival: This area offers a unique experience blending cultural heritage with modern desert-inspired designs. Visitors can relax in innovative seating areas and enjoy stunning natural landscapes.

Nicht eine sehr große Landschaft mit Wüste. Es als Wüste zu bezeichnen wäre wahrscheinlich auch nicht ganz richtig. Wer aber ein paar Bilder in der Wüste nicht weit von Abu Dhabi machen möchte ist hier richtig.

If you need to escape out from the hustle of the city, and if you are fond of desert then this is the right place for you. This location is not much away from the city, and lets you experience the desert vibes. Going an hour before the Sunset would be ideal as the Kids can also have some fun time. Do not forget to experience the star gazing before you leave the place. All this with no hidden cost - Just plain nature.
