Brothers here are hospitable (nice iftar for example), but everything is offered without a smile or any degree of grace. Otherwise, this is a typical salafi masjid. During salat, expect to be following all sunnah practices— imam inspects the rows, checks ankles, ensures toe to toe, shoulder to shoulder jama. Women’s area remains “closed” (2 years in the making!) Wudu area acceptable.

Very welcoming and well kept. Zazak Allah Khair! Come pray my brothers and sisters! I ask the masjid community to make space for the sisters to pray. Even if it’s a little space. Please do not deny them.

Yesterday I was traveling through the area with my wife and sisters and we needed a place to pray Maghrib. We came into the masjid a few minutes before Maghrib started and the masjid was pretty much empty. We sat for a bit waiting when an older gentleman came over to the women and told them the space was for men only. I came over to him and tried to be friendly and to explain to him what our needs were, but he refused to hear me out and insisted that the women leave. We ended up leaving and praying outside in the cold street. This is absolutely no way to run a masjid. The Prophet SAW said that you cannot prevent women from coming to the masjid. The women were going to pray in the back behind the men, just as the Prophet SAW set up his masjid in Madinah. I see a lot of reviews here praising the masjid for "being upon the Sunnah." If these folks are really upon the Sunnah, they should not have tried to kick 3 respectful women out for wanting to pray somewhere instead of the street. Also seen some older reviews mentioning the same sign they have up front that "the women's prayer area isn't ready yet." So you're telling me you've been "working on a women's prayer area" for at least 2 years with absolutely no temporary solution? Please make more of an effort to make this masjid welcoming to anyone who wants to pray in the house of Allah. Really disappointed to see people acting like this.

Masha Allah Tabarak Allah Very small but peaceful and beautiful mosque. May Allah blesses whoever participated in building it and manage it. I came here in a super hot day to pray Dhohr prayer while the masjid has a very cool temperature and welcoming! Alhamdulilah

‏بارك الله في هذا المسجد من أهل السنة. ‏ إمام لا يخاف خوفه لائم في خطبة الجمعة. Brothers need to stop complaining about the emam being strict when he’s teaching and telling the truth

Masjid is nice and clean. But the imam is very rude. You can't even stay in the Masjid unless your praying your obligatory prayer..the imam has an issue with you even sitting down for a few minutes after prayer..

If you truly believe you love Allah and The Prophet PBUH then you would value the knowledge being taught (between Maghreb and Isha) and implemented on a daily basis. Many people have a bad notion when entering because the imam has rules but it’s a masjid and Mashallah he has maintained its integrity inshallah for the sake of Allah

May Allah bless every mosque, everywhere. But in my heart, the mosques of the Emirates remain unmatched — not only in structure, but in spirit.

After going to this masjid on and off for years and recently going to some of the classes I can tell you, these people talking bad about the sheikh are either Lying or leaving out immense context. With all the salah I prayed behind him, and the hours (if not days) I spent in his classes, I can say this knowing I will be accountable for my words with the one who created me, I have never seen the sheikh get mad or upset except with people who insist on playing with the religion. There are only 3 times that come to mind: 1-the khutba. The sheikh follows the sunnah {Sahih Muslim 867a } and does get angry in the khutba when appropriate. 2- a man kept trying to argue with the sheikh that innovation is good and the prophet was wrong when he said every innovation is evil. The man was bothering other brothers while the sheikh was keeping his cool, eventually the sheikh, without screaming or raising his voice or getting physical, told the man to leave in a upset tone and left him. 3- a person was kissing the Quran for barakah and the sheikh told him there’s no daleel for this and every innovation is evil. The man waffles and keeps arguing when the sheikh gets annoyed with him. He still did not tell, scream, or do what some people claim he does. Regarding being extreme or arrogant, I gotta ask, how? If you ask him for evidence he’ll give it to you. I’ve seen it personally that if you correct him, he will talk to you to learn a bit more and them check it again. If he was wrong, he has no problem saying that. If these people complaining about him were to sit with him they would see this too. Yes the sheikh tells the people to keep the pants above the ankle but so did the prophet of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم {Sunan an-Nasa'i, 5332}. Tldr: Don’t believe the people who speak ill of the sheikh, come to the class and see how he acts yourself. If you believe he’s extreme or wrong, talk to him about his evidences and bring your own!!

The Imam is a dictatorship... He only knows the way of villages in the mountains of yeman .. yelling and imposing what he believes in .. I was asked to wear a skirt that I don't believe in and pull up my pants over my ankles.. if u don't they look at you that you are kafer .. these people love to chase the people away from this masjid of God .. read the reviews and I will understand my post .

This Masjid is a gem within the City of New York, if not the whole of America. Daily Islamic Classes from Magrib to Isha held by Shaykh Abu Dujanah Ibn Hujjaj, who was the student of Shaykh Muqbil ibn Hadi Al-Wadi'ie. The Masjid and Shaykh have a high respect and implementation of the Quran and Sunnah. Also very clean and comfortable Masjid. The brothers there are very welcoming. Everyone should attend the classes and gain the knowledge.

Refusing to allow a woman to pray in a mosque is considered a discriminatory practice in Islam. 🙂 you don’t want to answer to Allah about why I prayed late because of your doing. Ibn Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Do not prevent women from their share of the mosques if they seek your permission.” Like another comment said, It’s the house of Allah, not your personal property 🙂 May Allah guide you !

Salam Everyone. In date of the March 30 and Ramadan 20 2024.I went Masjid Al -Imam Al- Albani around 11pm for tarabi salat. Before starting my salat I took permission for because Jamat salat was over I have to do only by myself and one guy said you can stay and perform your salat. I think he was a mosque committee member. I have started my salat after 10 minutes later one guy came up to me and said I have to go home and finish my to my house. I am shocked I couldn’t even finish my salat. I am an Uber driver I dropped one rider close by this masjid that’s why i went this masjid for salat.I never seen any masjid like this masjid and this kind of behavior. I wish May Allah give them Hedayed one day Insallah.

I swear by Allah there is not a better masjid to learn from or bring your youth to in New York City than Masjid Al-Imam Al-Albani. Shaykh Abu Dujanah ibn Hujjaj is the Imam there, he is an old man from Yemen. He is the most knowledgeable man I've met. A student of Al Muhaddith Muqbil ibn Hadi Al Wadi'ie. He strives to teach the Sunnah without watering down Islam or being pressured by the West. He has classes between Maghrib and Isha where he goes through three books from scholars of the Sunnah. Contrary to his age and looks, he's a very funny Shaykh and those who say he is arrogant or rude have not had one conversation with him. He's stern when it comes to this religion, and he won't let innovations and sins slide under his radar. He is the best example of someone who follows the Salaf from anyone I've personally seen. He refutes the innovators and cherishes the people upon Sunnah. Anyone who says he's an extremist has no knowledge of the Sunnah. Had they seen the companions surely they would have called them more extreme. May Allah preserve the Shaykh Abu Dujanah, and grant him a long life upon goodness to teach the youth. May Allah grant him and his students a good ending.

Masjid Albani is one of the best places to learn about the beautiful religion of Islam. Though the space is not large and currently does not have a designated area for sisters due to logistical challenges, the masjid remains a beacon of knowledge and spiritual growth. The masjid offers nightly lessons between Maghrib and Isha, covering essential topics such as the Book of Tawhid, prayer, and hadith. The shaykh is truly a gem—he speaks not from personal opinions but strictly from the Quran and Sunnah, following the understanding of the righteous predecessors. His teachings provide clarity and a deep sense of peace, making every prayer here a spiritually uplifting experience. It’s important to understand that Masjid Albani is not a social space or a casual gathering spot—it is a place dedicated to the remembrance of Allah. Some may have made negative remarks, but such criticism often comes from misunderstanding or personal pride. Islam is neither extreme nor to be taken lightly, and this masjid beautifully represents the balanced, middle path. I am truly grateful for this masjid. Alhamdulillah, by the permission of Allah, it has transformed my understanding of the deen and strengthened my faith. May Allah bless and preserve this place for generations to come.
