I recently visited Alibaba & 41 Dishes in Trivandrum, and my experience was a mix of positives and disappointments. Let me start with the highlight — the interior ambience is absolutely beautiful. The restaurant has been designed with great attention to detail, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes it a lovely place to sit and dine. Whether you're going with friends or family, the setting definitely enhances the overall experience. However, the pricing is something that might not suit everyone. The rates feel quite on the higher side compared to the portion sizes and overall value offered. It doesn’t come across as very affordable, especially if you're planning a full meal. Coming to the food, while some dishes were decent, not everything met expectations. A few items lacked flavor and didn’t feel worth the price being charged. There seems to be inconsistency in quality, which can be disappointing when you’re expecting a premium dining experience.

Order took way too long to arrive. The waiting time was unacceptable and ruined the whole experience. Mixed experience overall. A few dishes were really good, but some were terrible and disappointing. Especially Tiny, greasy flat coin porotta with no layers. Didn’t feel fresh or authentic, More like an oily biscuit than a coin porotta. Service was quite confusing — the waiter seemed unsure. Our experience was more frustrating. Needs much better coordination and consistency.

Had an overall good experience. Good interiors and service, lavish parking, quick Service were the highlight. Food Soup was decent, Fish curry was good - with much more scope for betterment, Bread accompaniments were impressive.

My friend and me visited the restaurant yesterday for dinner, 80% of the food on the menu is unavailable, the provided water in a broken glass, we ordered coconut milk and beef infused porotta, but the beef and porotta was swimming in coconut milk. Their upi was down card payment had issues, ruined our night.

We ordered Veg Noodles . Served just warm, not hot. Bland taste. Had to ask for chilli water, mustard sauce etc Then again the waiter went to look for cutlery, that too on demand 😡 The rim edge of the glass in which water was served was also broken 🫥😬 Potential health hazard!!!

Me and my friends went here for dinner, but honestly it was a disappointing experience. We ordered a few items, but they brought the wrong dishes more than once, which was really frustrating. The quantity of food was also very less. Even the mayonnaise served with alfaham was just a tiny cup and not enough at all. Overall, the service needs improvement and the portions don’t feel worth the price. Hope they fix these issues.t

We had dinner at Alibaba and the 41 Dishes with my wife and kids, and the evening was both delightful and entertaining. The restaurant was buzzing with a full crowd and even a marketing shoot happening inside, which meant a slight delay in service, but the staff remained attentive. The kids were thrilled by the live magic show — close‑up tricks performed right at our table, balloon animals gifted by the magician, and plenty of laughter that made the evening memorable. On the food side, the Thenga Pathil was crisp and flavorful, pairing beautifully with the Butter Chicken, which had a sweeter twist than the usual version but perfectly suited my wife and kids’ taste. The Chapathi was soft and enjoyable, while the Tandoori Chicken stood out as the star — juicy, well‑marinated, and cooked to perfection. The Veg Kuruma, however, was underwhelming, with beans left raw and the gravy lacking harmony with the vegetables. Alongside, we had mineral water to complete the meal. The overall bill came to around ₹1,200, which felt fair for a spread that included multiple chicken dishes, breads, and accompaniments, plus the added entertainment for the kids. Despite the average veg kuruma, the combination of flavorful tandoori chicken, unique butter chicken, and the magical atmosphere made the evening thoroughly enjoyable for the whole family.

The restaurant is an excellent choice for both friends and family groups. The staff were helpful and offered great suggestions while choosing the menu. The ambience and cleanliness are truly commendable. The menu is highly priced as compared to similar restaurants. Very Disappointing Experience I visited Alibaba and 41 Dishes after a long-time wish to try the place, but the experience turned out to be very disappointing. What we ordered: 1. Nadan Mutton Spicy Soup : Priced 200.This was more like a curry than a soup. It was extremely over-flavoured and overly spiced, making it unpleasant to have.Even though they said it Nadan, the flavour was that much overpowering 👎🏼 2. Turkish Barbeque - Half :Priced 360- Just average. Didn’t feel worth the price at all👎🏼 3. Mixed Fried Rice :Priced 260- The worst item we ordered. The egg was overpowering and had a very bad taste—we couldn’t even eat a spoonful, even after trying with sauces.Very very bad in taste😑👎🏼 4. Cheesy Arabic Kunafa -Priced 350:We waited over 30 minutes for this, only to be served a dish with cold, unbaked cheese straight from the fridge. Totally not worth the wait and price.And we thought why the hell we have waited that much for this pathetic dish😡. When we raised the issue of the fried rice, the staff member who took the order responded by saying “other customers didn’t have any problem,” which felt very unprofessional and dismissive. However, another staff member came later, patiently listened to our concerns and removed it from the bill, which we really appreciated. The cashier also addressed our feedback politely and removed the Kunafa from the bill as well, assuring us improvements will be made. Pros: ✔️ Staff eventually handled the complaints respectfully and responsibly. Cons: ❌ Poor food quality ❌ Overpriced for what’s offered ❌ Long wait time with underwhelming results ❌ Initial unprofessional response to complaints Overall, while the staff response to complaints was a positive note, the food experience was extremely poor. Not what we expected, and sadly not a place we’d recommend based on this visit. And we won't try this in future. 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼😑

Tasty food and humble staff. As mentioned in the menu it took 25 minutes to get served and we reached there a bit late for lunch so some dishes were unavailable, luckily got a pair of tasty fish biriyani, comparatively short of quantity(so I adjusted it with the quality 😂), as starter we ordered some kebab which is too good and yummy. As it was late some desserts were unavailable and we adjusted with ice cream fruit salad, Its quantity is worth the money we pay. No words of the atmosphere and the ambience, top class. Overall it's good and I will visit again to have some exclusive dishes.

The hotel is located on the Vellayambalam–Sasthamangalam road, close to Vellayambalam. A variety of dishes made with fish, beef, mutton, and chicken are available here. They also serve several traditional Kerala-style dishes for guests. Soups, starters, Arabic dishes, Chinese dishes, juices, and shakes are all provided in a pleasant atmosphere. It is a good place to visit with family and friends. During peak hours, the waiting time can be longer. Parking facilities are limited.

I recently visited this restaurant, and unfortunately, it was extremely disappointing due to both the poor quality of the food and the unprofessional, rude behaviour of the front-of-house staff. To begin with, the staff member who served us lacked even the most basic understanding of how to treat customers with respect. His attitude was rude and dismissive, making us feel as if we were asking for free food rather than being paying customers. Hospitality begins with greeting customers politely, listening to their needs with patience, and creating a welcoming atmosphere. Sadly, this staff member showed none of these qualities, which completely ruined our dining experience. Additionally, the food is priced significantly higher than the average for Trivandrum, yet it does not justify this cost in terms of taste, quality, or presentation. The dishes lacked flavour, freshness, and care in preparation, leaving us feeling that the meal was a complete waste of money. To the management or owner: if you are reading this, please understand that customer service is the backbone of your business. It is not simply about taking orders and delivering food but about ensuring that customers feel welcome, respected, and valued throughout their visit. If your staff continue to behave in this unprofessional manner, it will drive customers away and damage your restaurant’s reputation, no matter how good you believe your food to be. I am writing this with the hope that you will take this feedback seriously, train your staff in proper customer service, and improve your food quality to match the prices you charge. Trivandrum deserves better dining experiences, and so do the customers who choose to spend their money at your restaurant.

I recently visited Alibaba & 41 Dishes and was absolutely blown away by the experience. If you are looking for authentic Malabar cuisine in Trivandrum, this is undoubtedly the place to be. The highlight of the meal was the Mutton Raan—it was cooked to perfection, falling off the bone and packed with rich, spicy flavors. We also tried their signature Thalassery Biryani, which was aromatic and incredibly satisfying. The portion sizes are generous, making it great value for money, especially for groups. Beyond the food, the ambiance is warm and welcoming, perfect for a family dinner or a casual hangout with friends. The staff were attentive and quick to recommend dishes based on our preferences. Highly recommended for anyone craving a hearty, delicious meal. I will definitely be coming back for more.

The property was well maintained and presented nicely. However, my experience with the service was disappointing. The staff member stationed near the reception was unprofessional and did not offer any greeting or welcome. I felt as though I was being treated differently, as if I had come only for complimentary food. My order was taken away too far from my table. Additionally, the restaurant staffs bearer and the welcoming person were making unnecessary noise, which disturbed the dining experience. Due to these service-related issues, I would not choose to visit this property again.

We reached about 10 pm. The waiter was least interested in serving us. Prawns biriyani seemed like last minute prawns curry and ghee rice on top of it. It took a very long time to arrive and seemed like they forgot about the order and made it up quickly. There was no pickle served with biryani, we asked for pickle, and again it took 15 mins for pickle to come. By this time we were fed up. The attitude of the waiter was full of negative vibes. Never again!

It’s a nice place with good ambience and tasty food. The Broccoli Creamy Chicken Soup is thick, rich and very filling, perfect as a starter. Their Butter Chicken is creamy and flavorful, best enjoyed with the soft, flaky Coin Parota. The Thenga Pathal is soft, fresh and pairs well with curries. Service is quick, portions are generous, and the overall dining experience is satisfying for both families and friends.

Dropped by Ali Baba at Vellayambalam and tried their chicken biriyani – the one with kaima rice. Honestly, it was pretty good. The rice was well-cooked, the mix was balanced, and it had that nice aesthetic appeal you expect from a good biriyani. The chicken masala was a bit too runny and sort of soaked through the rice more than it should’ve, but it wasn’t a dealbreaker. The service, though, needs a serious upgrade. The biriyani took a while to arrive and I had to literally get up and check with the guy at the billing counter to see if they’d forgotten the order. That kind of wait just kills the whole vibe. Now, the real letdown was the chicken pot soup. That was a disaster. It had none of the richness or depth you expect from a pot soup. It tasted like someone had emptied an entire jar of chilli powder into it – way too spicy, no balance, and clearly no tasting before serving. A bit of moderation and quality check in the kitchen would go a long way. Overall, decent biriyani, avoid the soup, and don’t expect quick service. Giving it three stars – mostly for the biriyani.

I recently had food from Alibaba & 41 Dishes, and I must say it was a very disappointing experience. The food was completely tasteless and far below expectations. Nothing stood out in terms of flavor, and it felt like no effort was put into the preparation. The porotta was especially bad — it was dry, rubbery, and difficult to chew. It felt more like a workout for the jaw than a meal. I truly regret spending my money here. The only thing that was remotely enjoyable was the lime juice — refreshing and decent. Other than that, the entire meal was a letdown.

I ordered a soup from here and was very disappointed with what i received, it looked visibly contaminated and not edible. Im very disappointed with this experience.
