Driven by our eagerness to try Japanese pancakes, we decided to check out this two-story spot. The ordering process is sequential: you place your order in the first-floor kitchen/staff area, before heading up to the second floor for seating. However, the dining area is incredibly cramped. Seating is limited to just 10 high stools arranged in an L-shape along a ledge facing the glass windows. If the space is at full capacity, it can feel quite claustrophobic. We started with the Chocolate Mousse Kiseki Pancake. It arrived drenched in a generous amount of chocolate syrup and was beautifully plated with thin slices of kiwi, a couple of strawberries, and two small scoops of chocolate mousse. The pancake itself was wonderfully soft and light on the palate. Next, we moved on to the Mango Mochi Ice Cream. The portion size was remarkably small (for the price). Because this was our first time experiencing mochi ice cream, we found it a bit difficult to fully catch the flavor on the first try. To get a better understanding of the taste, we decided to order two more flavors: Chocolate Nutella and Strawberry Cheesecake mochi. Texture-wise, the ice cream is encased in a distinctly stretchy, chewy outer layer made from rice flour. Mochi ice cream is definitely an acquired taste and might not be everyone's cup of tea. That said, if you've never had it before, it's a unique novelty that is well worth trying at least once.
