Excellent location in downtown New York. The place gets quite busy during prayer times. It is very clean, spacious, and well-maintained. the community is welcoming.

The mosque staff are very rude and speak inappropriately to visitors, kicking them out of the mosque and preventing them from performing their prayers. They don't allow people to finish their prayers, telling them to leave and vacate the mosque. They have a very rude attitude towards the city residents.

The women's section is on the left side of the masjid inside the men's section! There's a women's bathroom in there as well. If possible we should donate goods to keep the masjid clean, and offer to clean up the space anytime.

Assalamu aleykum! Masjid Ar-Rahman is a peaceful and welcoming house of worship. The masjid is always clean, beautifully maintained, and spiritually uplifting. Imams and community leaders are kind and knowledgeable. A true blessing for the neighborhood, alhamdulillah.

“I recently visited Ar Rafman Mosque and was impressed by its evolution from serving primarily the Guyanese community to now attracting an international crowd. The mosque is impeccably clean, beautiful, and well-maintained. I appreciated that the Imam explains things in detail in English, which is helpful for the youths. With over 3,000 people attending prayers, it’s evident that the mosque is highly regarded within the community. The communal experience of sharing food after prayers adds to the sense of unity and connection. Overall, my experience at Ar Rafman Mosque was positive and memorable.”

Alhamdolillah, prayer made easier in Midtown. Women section (curtain area) in back. Women join Jamaa most prayers, even asr and maghrib. Website indicates no women in first Jummah but women attend 2nd and 3rd jummah timings.

Nice masjid, good community. However jummah is super packed, people get extremely chaotic and there is little to no crowd control. Everyone is shoving everyone and it’s a mess. It totally ruins any atmosphere and focus you have. It’s nice they have 3 jummahs but it is still too chaotic to function. Nonetheless good masjid

Totally commercial nowadays. The book cases hold Qur’an yet it is filled with dust. The Imam and Muajjins almost felt like they are not giving any effort while reciting and adhaan. May Allah give them hedayat.

A really blessing to have a mosque in the heart of Manhattan near to main attractions and subway station as well. You can pray and sit peacefully in here,

Mashallah this is a nice clean place for Jummah and regular Salah. A small ladies section curtained off within the main hall. The women's wudhu room is right in front of the curtain in the main hall (see photo). However, there is a separate entrance only for Jummah prayer otherwise men and women enter from the same door in the far right during regular prayers. The restaurants above the Masjid are closed permanently at present

Convenient masjid with prayer space for sisters. It’s best to come if you can make wudu at home or other locations to avoid crowd.

I am very disappointed in this masjid. Mosques and Muslim communities are meant to be welcoming but this masjid is anything but that. The sister section was not welcoming and there was shouting in the brothers section.

I left this mosque with a heavy heart. What should have been a peaceful and welcoming space turned into a frustrating and painful experience — all because of one individual. I’m not sure if he’s a caretaker, volunteer, or someone else in charge, but his behavior made it feel like he believes the mosque belongs to him and not to God. I saw him shouting at worshippers between the adhan and iqamah, criticizing them harshly, and even going so far as to say things like, “If you don’t like it, get out.” Imagine hearing that inside the House of Allah. This wasn’t just a one-time incident. Several other people have shared similar experiences with this same person. His attitude came across as aggressive, controlling, and even discriminatory — especially toward those he doesn’t know or who seem different. What hurts the most is knowing that the mosque is funded by the very people being mistreated. Worshippers donate generously after every prayer to support the cleanliness, utilities, and maintenance of the mosque — yet they are treated like intruders in return. A mosque should be a sanctuary for every Muslim, especially in a city as diverse as New York. This type of behavior doesn’t reflect the values of Islam — it damages them. I sincerely hope the mosque leadership becomes aware of this issue and takes action to restore the mosque’s true purpose: peace, unity, and worship for everyone. 🟢 Note: This is a personal experience and may not reflect the entire community or management of the mosque. But I believe it’s important to speak up so that others are treated with dignity and respect

Masjid Ar-Rahman: A Tranquil Haven in the Heart of Manhattan Nestled amidst the bustling streets of New York City's vibrant Manhattan area, Masjid Ar-Rahman stands as a true gem, offering solace, spirituality, and a warm embrace to both locals and visitors alike. This mosque not only serves as a place of worship but also as a sanctuary for reflection and community connection. From the moment you step through its doors, you are greeted with an atmosphere of serenity. The soothing sound of prayers and the gentle hum of conversations blend harmoniously, creating an environment that feels both welcoming and sacred. For the Muslim visitors exploring the iconic Times Square, the mosque's proximity makes it a convenient pit stop. The tranquility of Masjid Ar-Rahman stands in stark contrast to the energy of Times Square, offering a serene retreat where you can recharge before delving back into the city's vibrant rhythm. The mosque's clean and well-maintained interior further enhances this sense of peace, allowing you to focus on your thoughts and connection with the divine. However, like any public facility, there are a few areas for improvement. Some visitors have noted the need for better restroom facilities, specifically ensuring an adequate supply of toilet paper. This attention to detail can significantly enhance the overall experience for those who use the mosque's facilities. Addressing this concern would undoubtedly contribute to the comfort and satisfaction of all visitors. In conclusion, Masjid Ar-Rahman serves as a beacon of spirituality, unity, and community in the heart of Manhattan. Its tranquil ambiance, commitment to inclusivity, and convenient location make it a must-visit for both residents and Muslim tourists. With a few improvements in amenities and a focus on sustainable practices, the mosque has the potential to elevate its already impressive standing, continuing to enrich the lives of all who enter its doors.
