캐나다 오타와시 시내 중심부에 캠퍼스를 가진 종합대학교. 1848년도에 오타와 카톨릭학교로 개교했다고 하니 약 180년정도 이어오고 있는 전통있는 대학교이자 캐나다에서 가장 오래된 교육기관이라고 한다. 등록된 학생수가 4만명에 이르는 북미 최대의 이중언어 대학이고, 모든 수업과 학생행정업무 등이 불어와 영어로 동시에 진행 및 운영되고 있다고 한다. 재미있게도 자국 학생의 등록금이 유학생보다 더 비싸다니 언뜻 이해가 가지는 않지만 사실이다. 아마도 외부의 학생들을 영입하기 위한 노력의 일부가 아닐까 생각된다. 캠퍼스 내외에 10개 동의 기숙사를 운영하고 있어 상대적으로 쉽게 숙소를 구할 있다고 하니 학생들에게는 아주 좋은 환경으로 보인다. 고풍스러운 건물과 모던한 건물이 섞여서 조화로운 캠퍼스의 분위기가 느껴졌다. 오랜만에 대학 캠퍼스를 거니는 기분은 신선했다고 할까? 스포츠팀명이 Gee-Gee라고 하는데, 소녀시대의 노래가 생각났다. 학교의 상징색인 석류색(Garnet)과 회색(Grey)을 따서 지은 Garnet and Grey에서 유래하였고, 이를 줄여서 GG라고 불렀는데 여러가지의 의미를 내포한다고 한다. 도심에 위치해서 접근성도 좋고 캠퍼스의 분위기도 편안하게 느껴지는 대학교이다.

I recently went on a campus tour at the University of Ottawa, and the student guide was incredibly professional and friendly. They made sure to engage with both the students and parents, creating a welcoming and interactive experience. It was a great way to learn more about the campus and the university community!😃😃😃

Bien pour étudier. Belle ambiance et plusieurs activités. Je trouve qu’il y a un peu de laisser aller dans la bibliothèque (Morrisset) à cause du manque de surveillance. Certains étudiants ne respectent pas le silence et empêchent les autres de se concentrer.

I really enjoy the clean friendly atmosphere here. I take certificate classes through a partnership between Ottawa u and the Ottawa Mission. They are interesting and fulfilling.,

Great under snowfall, historic & modern buildings. Connected to the train, has a Tim Hortons. Good place for studying up until 23h during weekdays

This is the university to choose to connect with Canada's next political leaders. The staff here are highly efficient, the affordable university buffet with the biggest selection + gaming systems built in is second to none, and the staff eagerly connect students with scholarship opportunities to intern or study abroad. I did 2 exchanges in Paris & Hong Kong through UOttawa's business school and was put in a program paying $4000 (in addition to internship salary) to do a summer internship in China or the United States. Clubs here are plentiful, and the campus population is very accepting of individual differences. Location? Always lots going on in Downtown Ottawa, just across the street from campus. Fellow Ontarians, note that 18 is the legal drinking age in the Quebec half of this city, you're legal from year 1, unlike in other Ontarian cities. Take my word for it, in comparison to schools like ESSEC France, UOttawa is top notch (shots fired at ESSEC! You'll know what I'm talking about if you've exchanged there.)

Récemment l’université d’Ottawa a été la cible de beaucoup de critiques et honnêtement de méchanceté gratuite. Les gens se fient à ce qu’ils entendent ici et là, que des personnes qui n’ont pas eux même vécu d’expérience au sein de l’université se permettent de dire des mauvaises choses à son sujet. Il a des faits qui se sont produits malheureusement mais ce genre de choses se produit peu partout à mon plus grand regret, seulement uOttawa a eu la malchance d’être exposée sur les médias bien plus que d’autres. Et on sait tous à quel point les médias peuvent tenir ou embellir une situation. Le fait est que les erreurs nous font grandir et surtout n’oublions pas le bien qu’elle nous a apporté. En tant qu’étudiante internationale et bientôt diplômée, jamais de mon parcours universitaire ces dernières années je n’ai été victime de racisme. J’ai eu des professeurs remarquables et des superviseurs extraordinaires. Mais j’en ai aussi eu de moins bons mais sans plus. La flexibilité des programmes offerts à uottawa est un grand avantage et SURTOUT si vous êtes un/une étudiant(e) international(e) et que vous parlez français, l’université d’Ottawa est la seule qui vous donne une exonération des frais de scolarité si vous acceptiez de prendre la majorité de vos cours en français tout en gardant un bon rendement scolaire. Alors oui, c’est extra ! Je vois des commentaires qui disent “n’y allait pas cette université est “raciste” mais cette université elle nous évite de payer 10.000$ de plus pas ton commentaire déplacé ! Et non, elle n’est pas raciste. Ce n’est pas parce que Mr X a une guitare qu’il est guitariste ! Et ben c’est la même chose, ce n’est pas parce que quelques membres du corps enseignant ont eu des comportements peu respectables que toute l’université est à renier. Où est votre sens critique et votre gratitude? Certains collèges et universités par exemple ne vous offrent même pas de bourses de mérite bien que vous ne soyez dans la liste du doyen. L’université d’Ottawa à chaque trimestre vous donne 1000$ de bourse si vous maintenez une moyenne de 8,5 et +, sans parler de tous les services étudiants qu’ils offrent (service de santé, sport, fédération étudiante, food bank, laboratoire multimédia, studio photos, bibliothèques, espace étudiant, etc...) *** L’université d’Ottawa n’est pas parfaite mais elle s’applique et est l’une des meilleures et je suis fière de l’avoir choisi en 2017 pour y faire mes études.

The University of Ottawa was first established as the College of Bytown in 1848 by the first bishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Ottawa, Joseph-Bruno Guigues.Placed under the direction of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate, it was renamed the College of Ottawa in 1861 and received university status five years later through a royal charter.On 5 February 1889, the university was granted a pontifical charter by Pope Leo XIII, elevating the institution to a pontifical university.The university was reorganized on July 1, 1965, as a corporation, independent from any outside body or religious organization. As a result, the civil and pontifical charters were kept by the newly created Saint Paul University, federated with the university. The remaining civil faculties were retained by the reorganized university.

Excellent university with a strong and inspiring music programme. I completed my B.A. in Music here in 2008 and truly loved the experience. The faculty were not only highly knowledgeable but also deeply passionate about teaching. I felt genuinely supported and challenged to grow both as a musician and as a thinker. The programme offered a solid balance of academic rigour and practical performance opportunities. Courses in theory, history, and ear training were well structured, and I appreciated the chance to work with talented peers in ensembles, choirs, and one-on-one lessons. The facilities were excellent, and the environment encouraged creativity, collaboration, and high standards. I left with a strong foundation in music and a lasting appreciation for the depth and richness of musical study. Highly recommend for anyone serious about developing their skills in a supportive, high-quality academic setting.

Their system is completely broken in every possible way, there is no staffing, no proper support, and even the most basic task, such as registering for a course, requires navigating endless loopholes and unnecessary obstacles. Any links they provide are often broken, and there is no one available to assist when issues inevitably arise. It is an incredibly frustrating and inefficient experience from bottom to top and start to finish. They appear to be operating solely on the reputation of being an old, once-respected institution, but in reality, the services provided are absolutely useless. I cannot recommend dealing with them or attempting to take a course through them.

C'est une très bonne université avec une très bonne éducation je compte sur venir d'ici août 2029 je regardais bien les statistiques de cet université j'ai vu que c'est une très bonne université elle mérite 5 étoiles

Prestigious University of Canada, with diverse background of staff. It is in downtown Ottawa and very well connected through bus service and subway line. Ottawa is a safe and secure city and the university is the Gem of this beautiful city. Highly recommended for students who are willing to strive in their education and professions.

Disabled students beware. They will harass you even during your first request.

An excellent and beautiful university. It was founded in 1848 as the College of Bytown by the Mary Missionaries. Currently, this public university has more than 3,000 staff members and more than 34,000 students. Almost 70% of the classes are given in English and the rest in French. It has residences for the students, a Bioscience complex, Advance Research complex, Faculty of Engineering, Campus Boutique, Morisset Library, Languages Institute, Music School, Minto Sports Complex, Fitness Centre, Matt Anthony Field, Faculty of Education and many other facilities and things.

Great bilingual university in the national capital!! Large variety of programs offered. Some of their student services could be improved though.

Probably one of the worst administrations I have seen for a University. Impossible to get anything done with them, its impressive how ineffective and bureaucracy heavy this place is.

Espace attrayant avec un environnement diversifié et très dynamique. Sa construction architecturale est mélangée entre la contemporanéité et l'antiquité, majoritairement contemporaine. Avec un bilinguisme assez répandu, où des différentes cultures se mélangent. L'espace est accessible aussi bien aux personnes bien portantes qu'aux personnes à mobilité réduite (PMR). Également accessible au transport privé et en commun, notamment le métro, la gare d'Ottawa et les compagnies de bus comme la STO ou OC Transpo... Malgré l'urbanisme, des espaces verts sont aussi présents sur le campus. Venez découvrir l'université d'Ottawa !

The school tries really hard to rectify any mistakes it makes, its affordable (im from ontario) thanks to OSAP, their teachers are really nice and they have adapted tremendously to the needs of Covid.

Kudos for staff and volunteers on the organization of moving in day. Everything was super well planned making the stressful moving process easy and smooth. It deserves more than 5 stars
