San Miniato al Monte is one of the most peaceful places in Florence. The views over the city are wide and open, with the Duomo and rooftops stretching across the skyline. The Abbazia di San Miniato al Monte is one of Florence’s finest examples of Romanesque architecture, dramatically set on a hill overlooking the city. Founded in the 11th century on the site of Saint Minias’s martyrdom, the church features a striking façade of white and green marble arranged in geometric patterns. Une belle promenade tout en montée pour découvrir cette merveille, toujours en travaux. Intérieur austère mais propice à la contemplation. Regardez bien les horaires avant d'y aller. Très beau cimetière attenant.

"Le paradis se mérite (surtout quand il y a des marches)" San Miniato, c'est la récompense ultime après avoir survécu à la foule du Piazzale Michelangelo. On grimpe, on transpire, on maudit un peu la Renaissance, et soudain... le choc. C'est calme, c’est mystique, et c’est tellement beau que même un athée convaincu se surprend à chercher un halo de lumière. C'est Florence en version "silence, on admire". Les points qui régalent : La vue (Sans les perches à selfie) : C’est le plus beau panorama de Florence, point barre. On voit le Duomo de haut, sans avoir l'impression d'être dans une boîte de sardines. On se sent comme un Médicis qui surveille son empire. Le sol en marbre : Le zodiaque en marbre au sol est si beau qu'on finit par marcher en regardant ses pieds, ce qui est ironique pour une église qui pointe vers le ciel. Un chef-d'œuvre de géométrie qui rendrait jaloux n'importe quel designer moderne. Le chant des moines : Si vous venez vers 18h30, vous avez droit aux chants grégoriens dans la crypte. Même si vous ne comprenez pas le latin, l'ambiance vous transporte directement en l'an 1018. Frissons garantis (et ce n'est pas seulement à cause de la fraîcheur des pierres). La boutique des moines : On peut y acheter des liqueurs, des bougies et des produits de la ruche. C'est le seul endroit où l'on peut repartir avec un remède monacal pour soigner son foie après trop de Chianti. Les petits bémols (le "test d'effort") : La montée : Disons que c'est une excellente préparation pour le marathon de Florence. Si vous n'êtes pas un adepte de la randonnée urbaine, vos jambes vont vous rappeler l'existence de chaque marche. Prévoyez de l'eau, ou beaucoup de foi. Le cimetière (Porte Sante) : C’est magnifique, mais c’est un cimetière. Ne soyez pas surpris d’y croiser l’auteur de Pinocchio (Collodi). Évitez juste d’y faire un pique-nique, les résidents apprécient le calme. Verdict : L'endroit le plus pur et le plus serein de la ville. C’est gratuit (mais laissez une petite pièce, les moines bossent dur), c’est historique, et c’est le spot parfait pour une demande en mariage ou juste pour réaliser que votre vie de bureau est bien loin.

DOVE SI TROVA: Si trova sul suggestivo Monte delle Croci a Firenze. PILLOLE DI STORIA E LEGGENDA: La sua origine è molto antica, risale all’XI secolo. Per sottolineare la sua bellezza, una antica targa ha un’iscrizione latina che significa: questa è la Porta del Cielo. La tradizione racconta che Miniato era un mercante greco che, durante un pellegrinaggio, fu decapitato a Firenze poiché cristiano. Quindi raccolse la propria testa e camminò fino al luogo dove oggi sorge l’abbazia ARCHITETTURA: Si tratta di un significativo esempio di architettura romanica fiorentina. La facciata si sviluppa su due ordini e risalta. La sua semplicità è accentuata dal gioco lineare dei marmi bianchi e verdi, con motivi geometrici. Entrando possiamo ammirare una pianta basilicale a tre navate. Il presbiterio è rialzato, per sottolineare la sua sacralità. Interessante è il soffitto a capriate. Uno spettacolo è anche il pavimento a intarsi dell’inizio del XIII secolo. La cripta è la parte più antica della chiesa, dell’XI secolo, spicca l’altare maggiore dove si pensa sia presente il corpo del santo. CURIOSITÀ: LO SAI CHE…? Adiacente è situato Il cimitero delle Porte Sante, dove riposano personaggi illustri come Carlo Collodi, autore di Pinocchio. UN’ESPERIENZA PERSONALE: Oltre la bellezza architettonica della chiesa si rimane annichiliti dalla bellezza del panorama senza tempo di Firenze. Em estilo romànico florentino , a sua construção data do ano de 1013 , por iniciativa do Bispo Ildebrando . Está situada num dos pontos mais elevados de Florença sobre a ´´ Piazzale Michelangelo `` de onde se desfrutam panorâmicas deslumbrantes da cidade . De destacar a espectacular a Fachada revestida com mármore branco e verde . Segundo uma antiga lenda a devoção a San Miniato , primeiro mártir cristão de Florença , deve-se ao facto de ele , depois de ter sido decapitado , ter caminhado com a própria cabeça nas mãos até ao local onde está erigida a -Basílica !

Deviazione per vedere questa abbazia nel suo splendore ma deluso dallo stato in cui si trova nascosta da ponteggio x restauro, almeno avvisate sul sito che è in questa situazione e così il turista è preparato o evita di fare tanta strada x vedere ponteggi . Comunque dal piazzale ottima visuale su Firenze.

A quiet yet elegant church uphill in Firenze. Although it was under renovation during my visit on 10 February 2026, there are details about the renovation and the church can still be entered.

Das bisschen was ich gesehen habe, hat mir sehr gut gefallen, aber sie wird gerade restauriert und das muss auch mal sein. Dafür habe ich den Friedhof besichtigt, es war sehr ruhig und sehr schön da. Übrigens die Aussicht auf Florenz ist von da oben unglaublich schön. Ich kann es nur empfehlen.

San Miniato al Monte is Florence’s Romanesque masterpiece in full working order: begun in 1018 and built out across the 11th to 13th centuries, it still feels like a design argument rather than a relic. The façade is a disciplined grid of white and green marble, topped by a glittering mosaic, with the Calimala eagle signalling the guild money that helped build and maintain it. Inside, the space steps up: a raised presbytery and choir set above a large crypt, so liturgy and devotion literally occupy different levels. In the nave, Michelozzo’s Cappella del Crocifisso (1448) sits like an inserted room, enriched with Luca della Robbia’s glazed terracotta. Even the floor is doing science: a 1207 zodiac panel can act as a solstice meridian, letting sunlight mark time.

Très belle surprise. L'intérieur est magnifique (en travaux actuellement) mais on peut encore profiter du plafond et de l'hôtel. Et la vue en sortant sur Florence est magique. Et cela gratuitement.

피렌체의 전망을 한눈에 볼 수 있는 최고의 포인트 보통 피렌체의 전망하면 미켈란젤로 광장을 많이들 추천합니다. 그렇지만 거긴 너무 붐빈다고들 하고, 그곳보다 사람이 적으면서 좀 더 높은 곳이 있습니다. 바로 여기 산 미니아토 알몬테 성당입니다. 환상적인 뷰를 자랑하죠. 성당은 공사중이라 들어갈 수 없었습니다. (2025년 10월 초 기준) 하지만 열린 입구로 안쪽을 보았을 때 아름다운 모습은 보였으니 공사가 끝나면 가볼만 할 것 같습니다. 이 곳에 올라가는 방법은 약간 애매합니다. 그럴땐 택시죠. 이탈리아에서 택시타는 법은 의외로 어렵지 않습니다. 이탈리아는 우버가 별로 활성화 되어있지 않습니다. 대신 세가지 앱을 사용할 수 있습니다. (IT택시, 프리나우, 앱택시) 이렇게 세가지 어플리케이션이 잘 활용됩니다. 로마는 그 중에 프리나우와 앱택시가, 피렌체는 IT택시와 프리나우가 잘 잡히더군요. 사용방법은 간단합니다. 미리 한국에서 앱을 다운받고, 카드를 등록합니다. 카드 등록과정에서 0.몇 유로 결제했다가 환불해줍니다. 카드가 잘 작동하는지 확인하는 절차인듯합니다. 그리고 이탈리아 현지에서 어플을 켜면 카카오 택시와 똑같습니다. 출발지 목적지 찍고 호출 - 택시가 콜 잡으면 번호판 뜸 - 택시타고 목적지로 가면 자동결제. 쉽죠? 셋 중 하나는 자동결제 할지 현장결제 할지 고르는 것이었고 두개는 자동결제였는지 어떤게 뭔지는 기억이 안나네요. 이탈리아 택시는 기사님이 오면 택시에 타고나서 목적지가 맞는지 간단히 확인합니다. 어디로 갈지 대충 기억했다가 말해주면 됩니다. 여기로 올 예정이면 "산 미니아토 알 몬테" 라고 말씀드리면 되겠죠. 어플은 다 영어로 작동하니 쫄지 말고 사용하시면 되겠습니다. 저희는 4명이라 택시가 더 저렴한 경우도 있었기에 잘 이용했습니다. 그렇다고 택시비가 싸진않아요. 꽤 비싸니 잘 활용하세요. 어쨋거나 택시타고 여기로 오시면 간단하니 오는법은 해결되었습니다. 도착하면 그래도 사람들이 꽤 있습니다. 의외로 한국인 웨딩촬영팀이 서너팀이 있습니다..?? 어째서? 뭔가 유명해졌나보네요. 그리고 상당수의 한국인과 중국, 일본사람이 있습니다. 즐겁게 사진찍고 멋진 풍경을 구경하시면 되겠습니다. 석양 속의 피렌체는 정말 아름답죠. 역사와 미술을 안다면 더 아름답겠죠. 현대의 조명이 함께하는 야경도 아름답지만 르네상스 모습이 떠오르는 석양에 물든 두오모와 피렌체는 눈물나게 아름답습니다. 바바예투가 뇌속에서 자동재생되고 막 그래요. 알면 보이고, 보이면 사랑하게 되리라는 어떤 구절이 떠오르는 아름다운 피렌체입니다. 내려가는 방법은 매우 간단합니다. 택시가 끝없이 올라오거든요 ㅎㅎ 손님을 내린 택시에 다가가 가고싶은 곳을 말하면 기사들이 반색을 하며 태워줍니다. 걷지도 않고, 쉽죠? 이탈리아에서 로마의 석양과 피렌체의 석양 둘 다 봤지만 그래도 피렌체가 더 멋졌습니다. 메디치 가문과 르네상스라는 뒷이야기가 풍경 속에 숨겨진 이야기를 더해줬거든요

Much scaffolding inside and out due to restoration works. The interior art is still visible and beautiful. Definitely worth the walk up the hill.

San Miniato al Monte (Italian: Basilica di San Miniato al Monte - Basilica of Saint Minius on the Mount) is the basilica of the Abbey of San Miniato, one of five abbeys in Florence, the capital of Tuscany in central Italy. Situated on a mountain, at one of the highest points in the city, it is one of the finest examples of the Romanesque-Florentine style. It has the title of minor basilica (basilica minore). When we was there it was ander reconstruction, so all floor and walls was covered. Its totally free for visiting,and from there opens so breathtaking view on city. Definitely recommend.

L'abbazia è un luogo di grande bellezza artistica, inoltre la vista dall'alto rende Firenze ancora più magica. Purtroppo al momento la facciata della chiesa è in ristrutturazione, pertanto non è possibile godere a pieno della sua meraviglia.

Ein wirklich wunderschöner Friedhof, der eine ganz besondere Atmosphäre ausstrahlt. Besonders beeindruckend ist, dass hier auch der Pinocchio-Erfinder seine letzte Ruhe gefunden hat. Sehr sehenswert ist außerdem die Statue von Mario und Maria Mazzone. Der Ort ist sehr gepflegt, voller Geschichte und hat uns tief berührt. Wir können jedem nur empfehlen, hier vorbeizuschauen, es lohnt sich absolut.

너무나 많은 분들이 올라오는 야경포인트 일몰 야경 모두 멋집니다. 단점은 어떻게 내려오느냐 인데...저는 비싸게 우버블랙을 ㅜㅜ 그래도 가볼만 해요 성당은 공사중이라 보기는 어려우나 가볼만한 가치는 있어요

Basilica is in reconstruction right now, but if you want a nice place from which you can take nice pictures of the whole view on Florence, this is the right place. It's much calmer then the down part with places to sit and enjoy the view.
