Had a fantastic visit to the University of Bern (UoB) campus on 30 Sep 2025! 🌟 Was there on an official trip to Switzerland and couldn't miss the chance to check out where my brilliant niece is pursuing her post-grad studies. WOW, the campus is STUNNING! So beautiful, organised, and picturesque - totally worth a visit! Would love to explore more of UoB's awesomeness.

As a master student in computer science, this university is amaaaaazing and it offers lots of opportunities. It is truly a life changing experience.

Ich habe hier einen Auslandsaufenthalt gemacht und es war die beste Entscheidung, die ich getroffen habe. Das Niveau ist unvergleichbar und die Infrastruktur ist einfach beeindruckend. Die Lehrer sind immer nett und jede Person bemüht sich, um dich zu helfen.

The most beautiful and strategically located University. International students-friendly, free German course for registered students and various discounts for students as well. Well known lecturers and fantastic environment to spend your student life. There’s a lot of study space for students @ for group discussions. Bern Main Station is just 1m distance. As an Alumni of Universität Bern, this university is well recommended if you decide to further your studies.

Even if you're not a student, the University of Bern area is worth visiting just for that picture-perfect Alpine view! The historic main building with its grand arches and green domes already makes for great photos, but head towards the back terraces or higher floors (nobody minds visitors), and suddenly – boom – there they are, the Bernese Alps, stretching across the horizon like a jagged white crown. Best time? Sunny winter mornings when the peaks glow pink at sunrise, or crisp autumn days when the air is so clear you feel you could touch the mountains. There's something magical about sipping coffee at a nearby café with this view – makes you understand why Einstein came up with his theories in this city. No entrance fee, no crowds, just Bern showing off its natural splendor.

호텔에서 가깝기도 하고, 요새하도 그 분? 때문에 이슈여서 와 보았습니다. 뭐 그냥 특별할 것 없는 유럽식 건물입니다. 앞에 잔디광장이 있는데 누군가가 먹고 버린 술병들과 쓰레기들이 널려 있어 역시 대학교 앞은 동서양을 막론하고 비슷하다는 진리를 깨닫고 갑니다. (추가) 헐 관리자님께서 밑에 댓글을 달아주셨군요. ㄷㄷ 유럽 건축양식 같은거 모르는 제가 함부로 평가했습니다. 죄송해요!! 스...스미마셍!!

Despicable! The debate on the situation in the Palestinian territories that Amnesty International planned to hold on Monday at the University of Bern has been cancelled. The university has withdrawn its authorization to use its premises.

Hier verweigert man der UN Sonderberichterstatterin eine Podiums Veranstaltung. Meinungfreiheit wird hier eingeschränkt. Beschämend! Man unterdrückt Debatten die genau das sind verschieden Ansichten die diskutieren. ''Universitäten haben die Aufgabe, ihre Studierenden mit verschiedenen Ansichten zu konfrontieren, auch wenn sie diese nicht teilen. '' Hier wird kein kritisches Denken gefördert. Studenten sind hier schlecht aufgehoben wenn sowas nicht gern gesehen ist. Das ist eine Fähigkeit die essenziell ist.

Die Qualität der Lehre und das Engagement der Professor*innen variieren sehr stark. Während einzelne Lehrende sich engagiert und kompetent zeigen, lässt sich das leider nicht verallgemeinern. Die Universität betont öffentlich, sie lege großen Wert auf einen offenen Meinungsaustausch, in der Realität ist jedoch oft das komplette Gegenteil zu beobachten. Kritische Diskussionen, insbesondere zu den Menschenrechtsverletzungen in Gaza, werden systematisch unterbunden. In diesem Fall geschieht das unter dem Vorwand der mangelnden „Ausgewogenheit". Gleichzeitig lässt die Leitung aber einen Professor weiter unterrichten, der einen Studenten wegen einer unangemeldeten Kundgebung tätlich angegriffen hat (Videos zu diesem Vorfall sind online zu finden). Die Leitung erschien mehrmals nicht zu Debatten und nannte dazu teilweise lächerliche Gründe. Solche Vorfälle sind leider keine Ausnahme, sondern Teil eines Musters mangelnder Dialogbereitschaft.

University of Bern is a stunning and peaceful place to study. Its clean, well-maintained campus provides a calm environment for learning. The surrounding nature and charming cityscape offer a perfect balance between academics and relaxation. For me, I find it a great place to focus and enjoy university life.

I am deeply disappointed by the University of Bern's decision to cancel Francesca Albanese’s lecture. Silencing a UN expert who speaks about genocide is an alarming act of censorship and goes against the fundamental values of academic freedom and open dialogue. Universities should be places where difficult truths are confronted, not suppressed. This decision reflects poorly on the institution’s commitment to human rights and freedom of expression.
