Better Life Health Care - Hikkaduwa

I went to better life health care - Hikkaduwa last week on my holidays because of some severe pain and infections. From the moment i stepped into the clinic, i felt very safe and in good hands. The doctor made the most thorough and professional assesment i ever experienced, all while being very empathetic in listening and understanding what was going on with me. He blended medical knowledge very holistically and gave me the optimal treatment for my issue. As someone with a bit of a medical knowledge base i was very impressed. It didn’t end there, he checked in with me daily! and provided more support. He also supported me by providing the informations for the insurance since i am a foreigner. It can be very hard to be sick in a foreign country, but this experience made me not just healthy again but was also very positive from the overall aspects. Also the pricing was extremely fair, especially if you think how the clinics on the main road in Hikkaduwa rip you off for minor treatments. I highly highly recommend going there, when in Hikkaduwa. Большая радость знать, что на острове есть доктор с таким высоким уровнем 🩺💉 На территории отеля я играла со щенком, в какой-то момент он играючи Меня укусил, это больше царапина, и хотя на вид я была уверена, что щенок здоров, испуг и мысли о бешенстве никуда не делись😁 Было воскресенье, в панике я поехала сразу же в частную клинику, там помощь мне не оказали, сказали придти утром так опасности нет и у меня 72 часа 🤷‍♀️, но утром меня стали отправлять еще куда-то, я была потрясена обстановкой и вместе со своим страховым агентом мы нашли другую клинику «Butter Life Health Care- Hikkaduwa.» Здесь со мной спокойно поговорил врач, обследовал меня, задал правильные вопросы и успокоил. Мне сделали прививку, дали рекомендации, врач был на связи в WatsApp. Очень Хорошее отношение 😊.

I am a Chinese tourist visiting Sri Lanka. Due to inflammation in my thumb, a friend brought me to this clinic for treatment. I am very grateful to the doctor for helping me recover quickly and for responsibly following up on my recovery progress in the days after treatment. This made my trip in Sri Lanka enjoyable.

Our family is so thankful for the treatment we recieved at Better Life! We used them several times during our stay in Sri Lanka, for the Rabies vaccinations for our 6 year old daughter, and for our 9 year old after having a stomach bug. The doctor speaks excellent English so we were able to communicate easily. He is kind and helpful and really takes care of his patients. The clinic is clean and we are so happy to have found them.

Ich habe vorab angerufen, wurde bereits freundlich am Telefon beraten und habe einen zeitnahen Termin vereinbart (4h später). Der Doctor hat sich unglaublich viel Zeit für mich gelassen, viele Fragen gestellt und gründlich untersucht. Sein Englisch ist perfekt. Meine Mittelohrentzündung ist bereits nach 2 Tagen deutlich besser und das beste ist, dass der Arzt per WhatsApp täglich nach meinem Wohlbefinden fragt. Ich wünschte ich könnte immer hier her zum Arzt. gehen.

Ich bin zu diesem Arzt gegangen, weil ich seit 10 Tagen Halsschmerzen hatte, die einfach nicht weggehen wollten. Ich war vorher schon bei einem anderen Arzt, der leider keine Untersuchungen gemacht hat und nur verschiedene Medikamente ohne Erklärung verschrieben hat. Bei diesem Arzt in Hikkaduwa war es ganz anders. Er hat mich sehr detailliert nach meinen Symptomen gefragt und sehr ausführlich untersucht. Die Medikamente, die er mir gegeben hat, hat er super erklärt und ich konnte nachvollziehen warum ich sie nehmen soll. Bereits am nächsten Tag ging es mir viel besser und am Tag darauf habe ich mich wieder komplett gesund gefühlt. Es ist auf jeden Fall einer der besten Ärzte, die ich in meinem Leben je besucht hab. Besonders positiv fand ich auch, dass er immer wieder gefragt hat, ob ich noch Fragen habe oder ob etwas, das noch wichtig sein könnte, noch nicht zur Sprache gekommen ist. Wir sind ein Stück zu diesem Arzt hingefahren, obwohl wir unsere Unterkunft nicht in Hikkaduwa hatten aber diese Anreise hat sich komplett gelohnt. Ich kann jedem nur empfehlen zu diesem Arzt zu gehen.

Wir waren mit unserer Tochter (11 Monate) dort, weil sie Fieber hatte. Dr. Shanaka hat sich sehr fürsorglich um unsere Tochter gekümmert und auch im weiteren Verlauf unseres Urlaubes war er ein verlässlicher Ansprechpartner (auch über WhatsApp). Wir hatten stets ein gutes Gefühl.

I needed help because antibiotics prescribed in my home country did not work properly for the infection I had. I got new medicines which solved the issue, and much more - a care until full recovery. The doctor ensured that the treatment works, adviced next steps, answered on Whatsup every question I had during the entire treatment. I felt safe and, what's important, the treatment worked very well in my not-so-simple case. I am very grateful.

We went to the doctor because of a scratch injury sustained from one of our cats. He examined the injury closely and prescribed antibiotics and medication for my stomach. Afterward, he gave me a general check-up and discovered that I had high blood pressure. Consequently, a blood test will be performed, and I will also need to visit a cardiologist. He took a great deal of time with us, explained everything in detail, and asked how I was doing. An absolutely wonderful doctor—highly recommended.

I was on a trip to Hikkaduwa earlier this month and at some point I got flu and figured I need it checked. Scheduled an appointment with Dr. Shanaka Kalupahane. Dr is very knowledgeable and professional. The visit went great. He gave me some medicine for continued treatment. I had to leave the next day, but we agreed to follow up via Whatsapp remotely, which we did every other day until I was fully healed. Ich war hier zur Tollwut Impfung nach einem Hundebiss. Der Arzt hat sich sehr viel Zeit genommen und mich ausführlich untersucht. Zudem hat er sich auch noch mal die Wunde angesehen und sie gut versorgt. Wir konnten vorab einen Termin vereinbaren und kamen pünktlich dran. Die Rechnung wurde uns im Nachgang als PDF für die Versicherung übersendet.

I had to visit this doctor for my second rabies booster vaccination. The appointment went very smoothly, and the doctor clearly acted with great care and knowledge. The kind of doctor you hope to find when it really counts I became a patient of this doctor in Sri Lanka under unfortunate circumstances: on Christmas Day, I was accidentally bitten by a stray dog. Based on the excellent reviews, I decided to come here — and I was not disappointed. Quite the opposite. From the very first visit, it was clear that I was dealing with an exceptionally competent, careful, and compassionate physician. My hand had to be sutured, followed by a full course of rabies vaccinations, as well as antibiotic and pain management therapy. This required several visits — and every single time, I felt I was in the best possible hands. He works with great precision and a strong sense of responsibility, takes his time, and explains every step clearly and calmly. Nothing feels rushed, nothing is overlooked. Beyond his medical expertise, what truly sets him apart is his humanity — the way he treats patients with respect, empathy, and genuine care. During this time, I also had to visit Asiri Hospital in Galle, where I experienced the complete opposite. The atmosphere there felt impersonal and hurried, and the interaction with the doctor came across as arrogant, unnecessarily rough, and at times even aggressive. I did not feel listened to, and the overall approach felt transactional rather than patient-centered. That contrast made one thing absolutely clear to me: whenever I am in Sri Lanka and need medical care, this doctor will be my first choice. What meant even more to me was the care beyond the appointments themselves. He checked in every single day to ask how I was doing. Given the physical situation and the very real anxiety surrounding rabies, this guidance and reassurance made a profound difference. I never felt left alone during a very stressful time. I am deeply grateful for his professionalism, dedication, and humanity. I wish him nothing but the very best for the future and sincerely hope that many people will find their way to his practice when they need help. I had a great experience here. Dr. Shanika was very kind and professional. I broke out with a rash likely due to an allergy with detergents or hotel soaps. He prescribed me some medicine and topical which instantly began to help. Overall, it was such a great experience. You can follow up with me on WhatsApp to see how my recovery is going. We visited the doctor with my husband after he had been feeling very unwell for several days, with a severe sore throat and high fever. The doctor listened very carefully and asked many detailed questions to understand how and when the illness started and what could have caused it. He performed a thorough examination, including checking the throat, measuring blood pressure, and doing a physical assessment. He was very attentive and professional, and the communication was clear and easy. We received a clear diagnosis and all the necessary medications for the full course of treatment right away.
