Black Panther Yala

Nalin and his wife offered a warm and memorable homestay experience. The house is clean and peaceful, surrounded by nature, and the food is fresh and thoughtfully prepared — I especially loved the dinners and the desserts. When I was unwell, they cared for me kindly. Nalin also helped with laundry, provided a bike, took me on a sunset ride, arranged the safari with better price than other agency, and invited me to a temple ceremony — truly special touches that made the stay meaningful. One practical note regarding transportation: when I was about to leave around 10 am to visit his friend’s farm where is about 50km away. I was told it couldn’t be reached by bus, that waiting might take a long time — especially after school hours — and that Google Maps schedules might not be reliable. After my Uber was cancelled following a discussion about road access rules based on his information, I took his friend’s tuk-tuk instead. However, when leaving the farm, the owner dropped me on a bus stop near the farm and I was able to return easily by bus. The road is wide and safe during the daytime, there are no access restrictions, and pickup along the main road is also possible. Overall, it was a kind and welcoming stay. I simply suggest that future guests check transport options independently and choose what works best for them.

We did not stay here, but they saved our safari! The evening before our safari we had some issue with the one we planned. A friend suggested to contact Black Panther, since they stayed here in august 2025 and they had a beautiful stay, but most important thing to us a wonderful Safari. We contacted Black Panther at 9 in the evening to schedule the safari for the next mornig, very last minute. Their service was spectacular, very professional, very thorough and very polite. In less then an our they found a driver/guide for our private safari. Thank you very much! And a special thank you to Udayanga, our driver/guide which gave us a wonderful experience, good food for breakfast, but he made possible to spot a Leopard. Thank you again for the amazing experience.

Wonderful hotel. We stayed in a simple but beautiful and cozy room. The air conditioner was quiet and comfortable. In the evening we had a delicious homemade dinner. Nearby there is a very picturesque lake, and we enjoyed walking around it several times. There is a lot of wildlife around, which made the place feel especially peaceful and alive. What impressed us the most was the host, Nalin. He really understands what travelers need and pays great attention to details. He explained in detail what can be seen and visited in the surrounding area, recommended great places to visit, perfectly organized a safari with a good driver, and clearly explained how to use local buses to reach our destinations. We liked the hotel so much that we decided to extend our stay. Many thanks to his wife and son for the warm hospitality!

The most amazing place to stay, we felt so welcome and looked after by our hosts. They did everything they could to help us - organising our safari and helping with transport to Ella, they even had bicycles free to use to go into town. The dinner they cooked for us was delicious and the rooms were very comfy and clean. Plenty of bottled water was also provided. We hope to visit again! :)

Unforgettable stay at Black Panther Yala — A hidden gem near Yala & Bundala I spent two wonderful days at Black Panther Yala with my wife, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable stays we’ve had. From the moment we arrived, the hosts were genuinely warm, welcoming and deeply attentive — they arranged both a safari at Yala National Park and another at Bundala Bird Sanctuary, tailored to our interests. Bird-watching lovers will be delighted: the lakes around the property were teeming with wildlife and rare birds. The room itself was spotless, comfortable, and well-equipped, with all the comforts one expects — clean linens, a private bathroom, a balcony, and a peaceful lakeside setting. The breakfasts and dinners served at the on-site restaurant were delicious, and the hosts even accommodated special requests. What really set Black Panther Yala apart was how genuine and kind the hospitality felt. It was more than just accommodation — it felt like staying with friends. The combination of a prime location, thoughtful service, easy access to safari/birding adventures and excellent value for money makes this place stand out. If you plan a safari in Yala or Bundala — and appreciate warm hospitality, nature, and tranquility — Black Panther Yala is an absolute must.

Nalin es una persona maravillosa. Las instalaciones son muy bonitas y la cena genial. Todo por un precio super razonable. Se preocupó en todo momento por nosotros. Nos vamos con muy buen recuerdo de su black panter. Graciassss

Il miglior soggiorno di tutto lo Sri Lanka, senza dubbio. L’host è una persona molto attenta alle camere, che sono molto pulite e dotate di tutti i comfort, e ai suoi ospiti. Ci siamo finalmente sentiti a casa; la possibilità di lavarci e riposarci dopo aver fatto il safari non è assolutamente scontata (il check out era quel giorno stesso). La cena poi è stata deliziosa! Fossero così tutti i soggiorni in Sri Lanka!!

Schöne u. saubere Zimmer. Warmes Wasser u. A/C. Zum Abendessen leckere singhalesische Gerichte mit frischen Zutaten u. abwechselungsreich. Er organisierte unsere Safari zum Yala-Nationalpark; wir wurden am Hotel abgeholt u. wieder zurück gebracht.

Absolute Empfehlung, unser sauberstes Zimmer während der ganzen Sri Lanka Rundreise! Endlich mal kein Schimmel ;) Wir wurden herzlich begrüßt und die folgenden Tage behandelt, das inkludierte Abendessen war sehr lecker und reichlich und wir durften auch Wäsche waschen. Zusätzlich zur Unterstützung bei der Safaribuchung durften wir auch die Fahrräder kostenlos ausleihen und die wunderschöne Gegend (Seen, Wasserbüffel, bunte Vögel, Fledermäuse) erkunden. Wir haben uns super wohl gefühlt und würden jederzeit wieder hier buchen :)

Wir waren absolut begeistert. Das Zimmer war sehr sauber und man hatte alles, was man brauchte. Der Besitzer kümmert sich gemeinsam mit seiner Frau um die Verpflegung, das Essen ist sehr gut. Außerdem bekommt man sehr gute Tipps zu Sehenswürdigkeiten in der Umgebung. Wir haben einen super Guide für eine Safari im Yala Nationalpark organisiert bekommen. Auch sonst ist der Besitzer sehr hilfsbereit. Eine unserer besten Unterkünfte und eine sehr gute Erfahrung im Black Panther Yala gemacht!

Mi è dispiaciuto poter stare solamente una notte perché mi sono trovata molto bene! Il proprietario è una persona molto gentile, disponibile e simpatica. La camera è pulita, dotata di tutti i comfort come sapone, ciabatte, phon, asciugamani pulite. Finalmente una stanza dove in bagno è presente una zanzariera, a differenza di tutti i posti in cui sono stata finora. Tutto molto pulito e ordinato, anche la cena lì è stata meravigliosa. Grazie mille per l’ospitalità e speriamo di vederci presto :)

We had the best stay at Black Panther! Nalin is the kindest person ever and so helpful with everything! He took us around and spotted some super nice birds. He was really knowledgeable and gave us a lot of information about them. He also helped with organizing a safari to Yala where we had a great time :) Also the rest of the family is so nice and the dinner we had was absolutely delicious, one of the best we had so far! The rooms are further really spacious and clean, felt really comfortable! We will definitely come back!

Food was incredible, one of the best meals we had in Sri Lanka. Nice selection of curries, the centella asiatica curry in particular was very nice. Dessert was also really nice, curd with cinnamon honey. The breakfast supplied for the safari was also delicious, very big portions and the fresh fruit was amazing. Host is incredibly kind and generous. Allowed us to extend our stay by a few hours so we could get cleaned up after the safari. Had great conversations with the host as well. Cannot recommend staying at Black Panther Yala enough

The absolute BEST place we stayed during our month long travel around Sri Lanka! It's understandable why Black Panther has only 5* reviews! They deserve it! - Room and bathroom were immaculately clean. - The bed was big, long and comfortable. The sheets were super soft and the pillows perfect. Everything felt brand new. - The A/C and ceiling fan both worked very well. - Drying rack provided in the room. - Flat screen TV with English and Sports channels available. - Water heater in the shower. - Dinner and desserts were different and delicious each evening. - Property is gated. It is off the main road so it was quiet at night and we slept great. - Free bicycles to use. - The safaris we booked with them were amazing! The breakfast/lunch/snacks/fruit/bottles of water the home-stay provided for these was unbelievable and way more than we could eat. They also provided us with binoculars which were definitely appreciated. The owners were beyond kind and helpful with everything and anything needed. They made us feel so welcome and comfortable and it felt like they truly only wanted the best stay/safaris/meals/everything for us. The information and all the different things to do and see in Tissamaharama they provided all turned out to be incredible and places we'll never forget. We definitely recommend staying here!!!

Stannade en natt innan Yala-safari och allt var 10/10. Enkla rum, men väldigt rent och fräscht. Bra säng med myggnät. Middag är inkluderat och den var toppen. Rekommenderar alla som är i området att bo här! Värden är otrolig!

Nous avons passé deux nuits ici et c'est vraiment très très bien. Chambre très propre, eau chaude à la douche, lit confortable. Le petit déjeuner est copieux et très bon comme le repas du soir que nous avons pris. Une famille formidable qui nous a accueilli. Le propriétaire,  Nalin est très réactif pour répondre au message et sur place il fait tout pour nous rendre le séjour agréable. Nous avons réservé le safari de Yala auprès de lui et nous avons pu voir tous les animaux du parc dont le léopard. Je reviens sans hésiter. Merci pour tout

We arrived without an online booking (apologies again for the short notice), but the welcome was excellent! The room also included a fantastic dinner, a wonderful family, and a very competent and helpful host. Thank you so much, everything was perfect. I will definitely recommend it to my friends!

Hôtel extrêmement bien tenu : chambres spacieuses, bien équipée, très propres avec une décoration soignée ! Services de très bonne qualité (dîner délicieux et généreux!!) avec une grande attention portée aux clients (boisson de bienvenue, thé et cafés offerts à la demande, informations sur la région, conseils sur les safaris…). Mais le plus important : Nalin et sa famille sont tout simplement adorables et ont plaisir à partager avec leurs hôtes. Ils aiment leur métier et le font avec passion ce qui rend le séjour encore plus exceptionnel !!! Merci pour ces bons moments partagés ! Je reviendrai !!

Word cannot express how grateful we are to Nalin and Isharni for welcoming us into their home during Sinhalese New Year. Staying at Black Panther Yala was the absolute highlight of our two weeks in Sri Lanka. It was such a special weekend where we learnt/ate traditional food (e.g. oil cake), participated in the rituals and traditions and met the neighbours and relatives. The room was comfortable and the food delicious. The location is lovely, set next to the wetlands (picture attached). I would highly recommend Black Panther to anyone!

My partner and I have been travelling around Sri Lanka for 2 weeks and this accommodation was one of the best night we have stayed so far. The owner has an excellent customer service which makes everything much easier and better. The dinner provided for the accommodation was also one of the best Sri Lanka dishes ever tried in this country. The room was very clean and the toilets as well. The owner arranged the safari to Yala NP and we even saw a leopard thanks to the driver. I recommend to everyone to stay here.
