I am writing to express my deep disappointment regarding the treatment I received during my student visa application process at the Bulgarian Embassy in Tehran.
The overall process took me nearly two years, involving repeated attestations and official translations of documents, which I had to arrange and complete in Bulgaria at significant personal and financial cost. I traveled twice to Iran, once for document processing and then for the visa interview, bearing heavy expenses and difficulties.
Unfortunately, after waiting nearly four months, I was issued a visa rejection without a clear reason. The most painful part of this journey was the treatment I received from Mr. Alexander Zdravkov, the consular officer. He acted with no sense of professionalism, started the interview without greetings, accused me of lying without asking any proper questions, and walked out mid-conversation. I had handled my entire application myself with dedication, yet I was not given the respect to even explain my case.
Later, he demanded additional translations, which I arranged under hardship, only to be told afterward that they were no longer needed. I remained in Iran for months with an expired Iranian visa and no passport, as it was held at the Embassy, which led to financial penalties and serious stress.
Moreover, the individual managing the entrance to the Embassy treated us with equal disrespect, refusing to answer basic questions and behaving aggressively toward Afghan applicants.
As a student who invested over two years of effort, hopes, and financial resources, this experience was devastating. Such unprofessional and inhumane behavior by embassy staff is unacceptable and deeply discouraging for students seeking a better future through education.
I hope this complaint will be taken seriously and steps will be taken to ensure respectful treatment of all applicants, regardless of their nationality.
