Changos Park View

Park Street View Restaurant was one of my absolute favorites when I was younger — I still remember their amazing fried rice, perfectly cooked crabs, and comforting chicken soup. So, with a lot of excitement, we decided to visit their current location to relive those flavors. Sadly, the experience just wasn’t the same. The chicken rice was overwhelmingly peppery — it felt more like a home-cooked dish where someone had accidentally gone heavy on the pepper. The chicken itself wasn’t particularly impressive, and the biggest disappointment was the hot butter cuttlefish — it just didn’t taste like what it was supposed to be. That said, the service was outstanding. The waiter who served us was super friendly, polite, and made sure we were well taken care of — truly the highlight of our visit. This used to be one of the best spots for authentic Chinese flavors, but unfortunately, that charm and taste have faded. I really hope they can bring back the same quality and Chinese food vibe they once had — it would be wonderful to experience that again.

Changos Park View holds a special place in my heart—it’s been over 30 years since I first visited with my dad. While the location has changed several times and staff members have come and gone, one thing has remained constant: the outstanding quality of their food. The customer service continues to impress, always making the experience memorable. Although I noticed a slight change in the taste due to the new location, I trust they’ll perfect it with time. Regardless, I absolutely love it there—especially their fried rice, which is an all-time favorite of mine!

Had the special mix Chopsy rice with basmati, a pork belly dish, and a lime juice. The Chopsy rice was very good and the portion was generous enough for three people to share. The pork belly was the highlight. It was juicy, full of flavour, and served in a really good portion, which many places do not offer. At around LKR 2,000 for the pork belly and about LKR 2,750 for the rice, the prices felt fair for the quality and quantity. The lime juice was fresh and refreshing, making it a nice way to finish the meal. Overall, a solid place for a satisfying meal in Colombo.

Park View Restaurant holds a special place in my heart - I've been coming here for 15 years, ever since my father first introduced it to me! 😊 Every time I'm in Sri Lanka, I make it a point to visit at least once. The food is consistently delicious, and the service is always top-notch. A must-visit spot for anyone looking for great food and a lovely ambiance. Highly recommend!

⭐ 1 STAR (and honestly, that feels generous) I ordered takeaway expecting, at the bare minimum, takeaway-level packaging. What I received instead was one of the most careless, unprofessional experiences I’ve ever had from a food place. The food was not packed in a box. Not in a container. Not even in something remotely suitable for transport. It was literally placed inside a thin plastic lunch sheet, loosely wrapped, and then thrown into a random shopping bag like an afterthought. That’s it. No protection, no structure, no concern for what happens once the food leaves the counter. By the time I got home, the food was already leaking, soggy, and partially crushed. Trying to open it without making a mess was impossible. This isn’t just about presentation—it’s about basic hygiene and common sense. If this is how takeaway is handled, it seriously makes you question the overall standards in the kitchen as well. What makes this worse is that this wasn’t cheap street food. This was a place charging normal prices, yet delivering packaging that feels lazy, careless, and borderline irresponsible. Plenty of small businesses manage proper boxes or containers—so there’s really no excuse. Takeaway means food that can be taken away. If customers have to rush home hoping nothing spills all over them, their bag, or their car, something is very wrong. Completely disappointed. Zero effort, zero professionalism, zero respect for customers. I will not be ordering again, and I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone who expects even the most basic standards. Do better—because this is unacceptable.

Changos Park View has always been one of my go-to places for delicious Chinese food in Colombo. I remember the old location it had a unique vibe, and more importantly, the food was absolutely amazing. The flavors were bold, rich, and truly satisfying. Every dish had a restaurant-quality feel, and you could tell a lot of care and technique went into the cooking. Whether it was the devilled crab, special fried rice, or chili chicken, everything tasted just right. Recently, I visited their new location at 98 Fife Road, Colombo 00500, and honestly, I was a bit disappointed. While the service was friendly and the place looked decent, the food didn’t taste the same at all. It felt like something made at home not in a bad way, but it lacked the depth and restaurant-style flavor that made Changos special in the first place. The spice balance, presentation, and even the texture of the food were noticeably different. I’m not sure if it’s a change in the kitchen staff or just a new direction they’re trying, but I really miss the taste and quality from the old days. Changos had a signature flavor that’s now missing. I hope the team takes this feedback positively and considers bringing back that classic touch that so many of us loved. Still wishing them all the best — and hoping for a comeback!

Overall a great place to eat Chinese food. The crab was made properly. A bit messy to easy, but they give you hand bowls so eat as you please. Make sure to wear something you don't mind getting messed up since crab is a bit difficult to eat. Was busy when I walked in but managed to get a good table. Would visit again. Update: On recent visit, the food was not the tastiest. Still budget friendly. Would recommend getting the beef steak with chips as that gravy was the tastiest.

Disappointed with my recent visit. While the service was okay, the food quality was not up to the usual standard. More concerningly, I took my leftovers home as a takeaway, and by dinner time, the food had already spoiled. This raises some serious concerns about freshness and food safety. I hope the management looks into their kitchen storage and preparation standards, as this was quite an upsetting experience.

We have been in this place since 1980s. Generations. Since it was innpark road. Still. Somehow the place maintains it's integrity. Surprisingly taste of the food is same. We never missed a chance to go there for a filling delicious meal for affordable and fair prices. Keep up.. for generations to come!

Very average experience overall. The food was excessively oily, the lime soda was far too sweet, and the service did not stand out. We took the food as takeaway, and it spoiled within just two hours, which is concerning. Would not recommend.

Really good portions for a reasonable prices. Usually a portion serves for two and food is delicious . The place has a very good parking space .No delays in serving and attentive staff. But lacks some dessert selections. All and all a really good Chinese restaurant.Highly recommend this

Now this restaurant is pathetic. The food is not tasty at all. I ordered one portion of chilli Prawns. But this was an utterly useless food. It was full of onions, capsicums and leeks. Small amount of small prawns. The taste is 😞 Deval chicken is also not seasoned. It also tastes like a piece of coconut. Only the mushroom with baby corn and nut curry is satisfactory level of taste. Park View Restaurant offers an array of delectable dishes, particularly noteworthy are their pork specialties and flavorful chicken dishes like chili chicken dish. Even vegi dishes extremely good speciallly mushroom dishes are mouthwatering. The food is not only extremely tasty but also reasonably priced, with a bill for one person typically ranging between 1500 to 2000 max. The service is commendable, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. However, there's room for improvement in the atmosphere and cleanliness, areas that could elevate the overall appeal of the restaurant.

Park View Chinese Restaurant was one of the oldest Chinese restaurants in Colombo City. I have good memories about the restaurant when we were in university 30 years ago. But I & my family were disturbed after completing the dinner. The restaurant has to understand now that you are not the only one in the city . There are so many good restaurants. I love park view. Please improve your quality.

Visited their restaurant after 2 years. I am happy to say that they still make the best chopsy rice in town. I have been visiting this place since I was a kid and still remember how me and my family waited in queues to get a table. This is one of the best places to have good delicious food with extraordinary service. ❤️ Highly recommend.

Every time there are so many crowd, but somehow they manage to get the tables for customer. Customer service was really good. The food was good, but the portion is a little bit minimized. There's plenty of side dishes, and there's only a few beverages available. Free parking is available. Highly recommend this place. It's very budget friendly.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at "Changos Park View" Restaurant, and I must say it was an exceptional experience. The Chopsuey rice I ordered was a delightful combination of Pasmathi Rice, Sea Foods, Chicken, and Liver. The flavors were perfectly balanced, leaving me craving more. The portion size was generous, easily satisfying three people, and the prices were reasonable, offering great value for money. The restaurant's atmosphere was inviting and pleasant, creating a welcoming ambiance. The staff members were friendly, attentive, and dedicated to maintaining a clean and tidy environment. I highly recommend "Changos Park View" Restaurant for a delicious meal and a wonderful dining experience.
