Chillon Castle

This is a must see jewell sitting on the side of Lac Leman plenty of parking as well as accessible by train, bus or boat. History personified audio sets or guides were available to help you with the history as you walk around. There was plenty to see a real Photographers Paradise capturing the history where people once wallked centuries ago, the outisde of the Castle does not reflect how big it actually is on the inside,

I had no idea the walk from Montreaux would be so beautiful! This is a must stop visit. Enjoy the walking path from Montreaux and enjoy the castle! Visitors are given a map with informational notes at each numbered point of interest. This was very helpful! Also, there are some videos and signs to watch and read throughout the castle. We greatly enjoyed this!

Incantevole castello medievale con tanta storia, non è molto grande ma la sua bella bellissima posizione lo rendono molto ma molto turistico, situato sul lago , sulla roccia dove dalle finestre si può toccare l acqua una cosa Fantastica. Su strada di grande passaggio lo rende molto visitato da tanti tanti turisti di ogni nazione. Non c'è tanto parcheggio sopra tutto nei giorni festivi. Tanta coda tanta gente che è quasi difficile a muoversi. Personale molto professionale e cortese, si parlano tante e tutte le lingue. All esterno come all interno tanti punti informazioni e vendita di gadget. Ci sono tante tante sale da visitare otre 40 in tutto, che rende bene l idea della storia che ha vissuto. Ottima la posizione dove si può arrivare in auto, e con piste ciclabile e pedonale, tanto tanto verde intorno a questo bello bellissimo lago. Prezzi un po alti come tutta la Svizzera, ma sicuramente consiglio di visitarlo almeno una volta. Bello e divertente bello e interessante consigliato

Большой, красивый и очень интересный средневековый замок, который находится на швейцарский ривьере. Внутри можно увидеть много комнат с интерьером и предметами быта средневековой эпохи. Можно увидеть тюрьму, темницу и винный погреб в подвалах замка. С верхних этажей открываются красивые виды на Женевском озеро, горы, шоссе, железную дорогу.

Definitely worth to visit! So well protected, incredible location directly next to the Lake Geneva, phantastic! The rocky islet on which the castle is built provided both natural protection and a strategic location for controlling passage between northern and southern Europe. The fortress, built on a veritable island, follows its oval shape. It measures approximately 100m by 50m. Its name also derives from the rock, from an ancient language in which the word "Chillon" means rocky platform. The history of the castle is marked by 3 major periods: the Savoy, the Bernese bailiffs and the State of Vaud.

This was an amazing visit! The chateau (castle) was extremely well taken care of and a fun learning experience. The staff were great and very helpful. We did the self guided audio tour and learned so much about the history and region. The exhibits inside were spectacular to see from the dining halls to the armor and weapons rooms. Very interesting to see the dungeon and learn about the “Prisoner of Chillon” and Lord Byron.

Fantastico. Reputato il più bel castello svizzero, non delude assolutamente. Ricco di storia, tra l'altro ben illustrata tramite i numerosi totem multilingua, prrmette un salto nella storia del passato dei Savoia. Perfettamente conservato e sapientemente ristrutturato offre una esperienza incredibile tra le numerosissime sale presenti all'interno. 15 franchi spesi benissimo. Parcheggio gratuito. Francamente da non perdere

Castello bellissimo, ben conservato e in un contesto favoloso sul lago Leman nei pressi di Montreux. Parcheggio vicino alle due entrate, prezzo biglietto buono considerando che siamo in Svizzera. Un incanto, vale la pena fermarsi per una visita

Visité en septembre 2025. Un sublime petit château posé sur le lac Léman ! Le Château de Chillon est une véritable carte postale. Très bien entretenu et remarquablement conservé, il séduit autant par son architecture que par sa situation exceptionnelle au bord du lac. Sa structure est originale et donne vraiment l’impression d’explorer un lieu hors du temps. L’histoire du château est clairement présentée et le parcours de visite est cohérent, à condition de bien suivre les indications. On découvre de nombreuses pièces historiques accompagnées d’explications sur leur fonction, ce qui rend la visite à la fois instructive et immersive. Et que dire de la vue… Depuis le château, le panorama sur le lac Léman et les montagnes environnantes vaut à lui seul le détour. Un lieu magnifique, à la fois culturel et contemplatif, que je recommande sans hésiter.

Historical Lakeside Castle This is a landmark on lake Geneva a castle on the water. it is super well preserved and is beautiful. Epic, it brings you back a couple of centuries. The visit is absolutely worth it. What we particularly enjoyed is that you can walk around most parts on your own and it is all open. Super experience.

We really had a great time here. The castle is interesting and had a lot of different rooms. There is a cute little cafe next to it if you're there during lunch too. The reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars was because there is no map to know you have hit all the weird rooms that are broken up and hard to find, there were no really instructions on how to go through the castle, and the $12 for the electronic your guide had a lot of rooms with nothing about them.

100% worth a visit. Cost us £15 for two people to get in. Everything is very informative and the views of montreux and lake Geneva are incredible. We spent a good 2-3 hrs in the castle. Also a beautiful walk from montreux to the castle, takes around 45 mins but stunning walking towards the castle! You can also get the bus, the station is across the road from the castle. Takes 10 mins to get back into town

The most magical castle experience ever!! Do not miss this gem. Amazing views and beautiful walking paths nearby! Such incredibly preserved history.

Magnifique château au bord du lac Léman, avec une vue à couper le souffle. La visite est très agréable et le cadre est vraiment magique. Un lieu incontournable si vous passez dans la région !

Sehr schön restauriertes mittelalterliches Wehrschloss, ursprünglich der Dynastie der Savoyen. Gut illustriert. Wenige Gebrauchsgegenstände der Epochen, dafür eine gute Sammlung von Truhen. Die Lage am See mit den Ausblicken übers Wasser und in die Berge ist einmalig!

Honestly… I’ve seen much better castles in other parts of Europe… I wasn’t even inspired to take photos of the interior. Luckily this was included in my Swiss Travel Pass so I didn’t have to pay to visit it

Chillon Castle was an excellent experience. You can walk there on the promenade or take the bus. The castle has been restored and is well maintained with its history written/ audio in multiple languages. Highly recommend if you’re in Montreux.

Even without going inside, Chillon Castle is absolutely worth visiting. The lakeside setting is stunning, with beautiful views of Lake Geneva and the mountains. Walking around the exterior and along the promenade was very enjoyable and perfect for photos.

Beautiful castle, well worth the visit if you're around Montreux. We took about 2h and used the Montreux Riviera Card bundled with the local tourist tax to get a 50% discount.

Le Château de Chillon est absolument magnifique et impressionnant par sa taille. La visite était très agréable, avec des explications claires et intéressantes tout au long du parcours. C’est un lieu chargé d’histoire qui vaut vraiment le détour
