The place is absolutely amazing. Quiet and well maintained. You can cozily bask in the sun or opt for comfortable chairs in the restaurant. I would really appreciate if they enhance their coffee experience. For sure, Nepal has much nicer to offer in the coffee segment.

The menu online is not updated. Please update it. For international diners, please note that the dishes are different from usual expectation. The restaurant has nice atmosphere but the bar top table is too high making the meal slightly unpleasant. There is no other table able to accommodate a group of 8. The restaurant is also too dark, resulting us turning on our torch light to read the menu. Please strike a balance, maybe adding a brighter light to the table, allowing diners to turn up the light when needed. The restaurant gave 2 free tasty bread based starters which was greatly appreciated. The prawn bisque soup next was amazing, making a great start to the meal. We had an onion soup and russian borscht soup too but both were slightly lacking. The soup should come with the bread instead of after as having soup alone without bread is weird. Next was the mains, the salmon was average. Grilled pork is amazing. Chicken breast and grilled chicken was average. The bbq pork ribs was SO bad… it was so dry, tough and flavourless and the fat layer is so thick. This is just not bbq pork ribs from the west as it is named, please rethink the cooking method as its clearly not bbq properly or renaming it as its just misleading. It totally ruined my dining experience as I was looking forward to have a western dish. Dessert was keylime pie and brownie with ice cream. Both are average.

Some restaurants feed you. The Chimney Restaurant at the Yak & Yeti hotel in Kathmandu does something else entirely. The Yak & Yeti is the former Royal Palace, and the Chimney Restaurant sits in the actual palace kitchen — history in every corner. We loved it so much on our first night in Kathmandu that when we returned after the trek, we went back a second time. And let’s be clear — we came back for the food just as much as the atmosphere. The best momo of the entire trip, an incredible borscht, and honestly you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Our waiter Rabi recognized us immediately and asked how the trek went. Midway through our meal, Chef de Cuisine Rajiv Sapkota came out and spent 20 minutes talking with us about his journey and ours. Then — completely unprompted — the entire staff emerged from the kitchen with their signature Baked Alaska Sagarmatha. Chocolate writing thanking us for coming and wishing us a safe journey home. A pink dot and a blue dot on the dessert, representing our successful trek to Base Camp. We didn’t order it. They didn’t ask. They just did it because that’s who they are. If you’re in Kathmandu, go. Then go back.

Went here after a trek for a bday dinner for my partner. The atmosphere is amazing!! A beautiful heritage feel. They set up a special setting for the birthday and also provided a key lime pie with a candle! Highly highly recommend! Just a beautiful secret gem in the middle of Kathmandu.

Recently celebrated a dear friend’s birthday here and it could not have gone better. Entrees (Lamb Shank especially!!) were so tasty and filling, the complimentary focaccia and small cracker appetizer was also a sweet touch. The atmosphere was dimly lit and cozy, while still maintaining elegance and class…perfect for the vibe we were trying to create. Wine was great, cocktails were great, and I was even able to call ahead to order a delicious chocolate cake for the birthday girl. Truly a 10/10 experience, our waitstaff was so kind, helpful and patient. I will definitely be recommending this place to any friends and family seeking a fine dining experience. Thank you for making the evening so special!

Such a fancy fine dining restaurant in the midst of the town. The staffs were really courteous as well as the manager himself came and explained the history of the place. The dishes were absolutely delicious comprising mostly of Russian and Japanese food. They gave us a lot of complimentary foods. A must visit if you’re into Russian food. Also you can visit the halls at the top floor and the gardens in the back. Really lavish and spacious halls with pretty paintings on the windows.

Delicious food in rustic and authentic surroundings. The gentle crackling of the fire and comforting smell of smoke makes for a serene and beautiful setting for dining. The food is remarkably good, with care put into every dish. I had the prawn tempura and catfish main, both of which were surprisingly tasty despite Nepal not being known for seafood. Service is attentive yet able to give you your space at the same time.

A heartfelt thank you to the entire Chimney family for an unforgettable experience. From the warm welcome to the exquisite flavors, every detail reflected passion, care, and true hospitality. Special shoutout to Mr. Abiral for the perfectly crafted drink—dark rum, pineapple, Angostura bitters, ginger syrup, and egg white with that fantastic smoky touch! Grateful to be in such talented hands. Cheers to your incredible team and timeless legacy!

Food and service was amazing! Thanks to Robbie’s recommendation - their classic dishes pork belly and chicken à la Kiev is very good! One of the best meals we have had in Kathmandu. Would recommend visiting

The Chimney Restaurant चिम्नी रेस्टुरेन्ट: It's expensive, the portions are fashionably small, and the food isn't the best I've ever had. HOWEVER, I still give it 5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ for the gorgeous setting, the wonderful service, the overall luxurious experience. (And there's a gorgeous ballroom-style room right next to the restaurant.)

It’s not to be missed, located in a beautiful hotel property. The menu is continental, lamb with saffron risotto, chicken teriyaki, spaghetti bolognaise made with chicken …. All perfectly executed. The onion soup was ok, but better than most. Derive was very attentive and hospitable, I recommend making a reservation.

Juicy texture of food and all the spices just blossomed after a bite ,when you take a breath you can feel the flavors flowing in your mouth and that pure sweet and oily flavor of ghee (butter) The food was perfect. I loved their hospitality. It was a sudden plan to visit there but was worth visiting

The Chimney Restaurant is one of the oldest and most popular restaurants in Kathmandu, Nepal. It was founded in 1968 by Boris Lissanevitch, a Russian émigré who wanted to introduce Nepal to the world of fine dining. The restaurant is located in the heart of Kathmandu, in a historic building that was once part of the royal palace. We started our dining experience with Amuse-bouche, Focaccia bread with olive and salsa dips. Super! Items we had, - Russian Borscht 800NPR - Asian Tomato Salad 600NPR - Arugula Feta Salad 700NPR - Tom Yum Soup - Prawn Tempura w/ Ponzu dumpling sauce 1300NPR - Chili Caramel Salmon 2500NPR - Lamb Chops 4500NPR - Baked Alaska Sagarmatha 700NPR We had a wonderful dining experience here, perfect for celebrating special occasions. Starting with the salads, both of them were fresh and our favourite pick would be the arugula feta salad, it was a little sweet and refreshing. We loved the Russian borscht made of veggies. The lamb chops and the grilled salmon were the stars of the show! Worth a visit here! The prawn was crispy and perfectly flavoured. A trio of frozen ice cream wrapped in meringue made the baked Alaska delicious! Also, the serving with fire was something unique for us! The service here is top-notch. They are always happy to make recommendations and help you choose the perfect meal. The atmosphere at The Chimney Restaurant is elegant and inviting. The restaurant is decorated with traditional Nepali furniture and artwork. The dining room is spacious and well-lit, and there is a large outdoor patio where you can enjoy your meal on a warm evening. ⏰ Open from 12-10.30 pm 📍 Inside Hotel Yak & Yeti Maps - https://maps.app.goo.gl/HpGhUe47AJh4wEom6 1NPR=0.85BDT 🏷 SAVE this post & SHARE with your friends! __________________________________________ [Where to eat in Nepal, Fine Dine Restaurant In Nepal, Dating restaurant Nepal]

This place is only getting 2stars for the excellent staff other wisse it would be lower, the food was over priced over hyped and over cooked. (Please note that I did eat the food from this restaurant however I was served in the sunrise restaurant so I could not appreciate the ambiance only the food) The starter of prosciutto was minimal with 3 slivers on top of lettuce , the borscht soup the only redeeming factor of the lunch however I have no previous experience to base this on The mains of steak was edible, however the chicken Kiev my partner ordered was inedible Mash potatoes tasted as if from a packet , chicken so over cooked it was bone dry floating in a pool of butter!! Even if this place was much cheaper ( which it isn’t ) I would not go back or recommend it to anyone

Came tonight for dinner. Ordered a lemonade, received a flat lemon water with too much sweetener. Amuse bouche is a nice touch however the no taste poorly executed. Main course came out 20mins after they said it was due in a few mins and was the most unappetising thing I've tried in Nepal. This is not fine dining far from it. Couldn't pay me to go back. Wouldn't trust them to cook me an omelette.
