The Grand Anwar Mosque (also called Al-Anwar Mosque) is one of the most important Islamic landmarks in Ethiopia, especially in Addis Ababa.

Situated in Merkato, the largest open-air market in Africa, in the Arada district of Addis Ababa
It sits right in a busy commercial area, so it’s always lively and crowded.
🕌 History
Built around 1922 during the Italian presence in Ethiopia.
The Italians started construction but left it unfinished.
Local Muslim communities raised money to complete it
Today, it is considered the largest and one of the oldest mosques in Addis Ababa.
