Ellen's Place

Beautiful property. The food was excellent and so was the service. Tastefully decorated, airy and bright. Seven rooms are available including rooms upstairs. As you go to the second floor it opens up to a beautiful, shady large balcony/terrace. Got the chance to see a room. It's simple yet elegantly designed. The bathroom, is clean, well maintained with toilet, sink, shower, bath tub. Yet again designed elegantly with class.

It was really pleasant stay in most busy and crowded town in SL. They warmly welcomed us offering a welcome drink as well. From small guest houses normally don't have such kind of gesture. And i really like their interior designs. All the places were really clean and neat. And it's so peaceful and calming and i would like to visit again.

Mmmm. How to start! I've never been to hotel with such room, the room is very big, comfortable, elegant, and calm. The bed is very comfortable. The shower in bathroom is on another level. Nice and friendly staff. The area in which the hotel located is classy and close to many places in the capital ex. National museum. Highly recommended for short trips/business trips to Colombo.

ロイヤルコロンボゴルフクラブ近くのこじんまりしたホテル。スタッフは皆フレンドリーでテキパキしてます。古い感じですが掃除も行き届いてます。２階のスイートはとても広く快適に過ごせました。 小さいですがプールもあり毎日掃除をしています。 朝食はコンチネンタルとイングリッシュがあり、ちょうどいい位の量でした。

Ellens Place is a hidden gem middle of busy Colombo. Hotel is located in a small side road and it's very nice calm and quiet place. Got a nice little pool near the dining area. Rooms are nicely laidout and comes with a nice comfy bed. Tea and coffee is provided in the room for your convenience. Staff is extremely friendly and very attentive to your request. Dining and room service is available and good is very tasty.

Excellent accommodation option in central Colombo. Easy to get to and tucked away from the hustle and bustle of main road. We were cooked an excellent dinner at 1500 per person and enjoyed additional touches, waters in room etc. Would come back for sure.

Very clean rooms with AC, fans, TV, tea, coffee and water provided. Extremely helpful and friendly staff. If you're eating dinner in, try the curry dish, you will not regret it! Would definitely return here if in Colombo.

We stayed two nights at the place. It feels quite like a guesthouse and staff there are quite friendly and helpful. Not only do they have welcome drink, but they also have fruit plate which has 4, 5 options. It has a swimming pool but very small, which is not enough for swimming One thing to note is that the rooms on the first floor doesn't get much natural light, so it's better to stay upstairs.

We spend 2 days in Ellen's Place just after landing in Colombo. It's a really great place to start Your journey in Sri Lanka. Rooms are big and nice, staff is very friendly and helpful. It is not located in centre so tuktuk is useful to get eg to National Museum (no problem to get one); also You don't have many restaurants around but staff can organize a lovely dinner in hotel. Overall - if You're looking for a peaceful stay in Colombo - very recommended.

Hosted my friend's birthday party on the 27th of May, 2022 at Ellen's Place. We were incredibly captivated by the serenity of this location. Mr. Derek who assisted me from the initial call I made to book the location, ensured that everything was well taken care of and my friends and I were looked after and welcomed, until our departure. Heartfelt regards to Derek, Hiran and their amazing staff for the incredible hospitality provided to us. Hoping to visit the Ellen's Place soon again!

Great location for the price, and they have cable TV and good WiFi. Bedroom is very clean, bathroom is well maintained and comes with soaking tub. The welcome drink was a nice touch.

An oasis in the hecticness of Colombo. Lovely food & staff were attentive, helpful & welcoming. Room we were in looks a touch tired. Esp the upper reaches. But would definitely go back when we were next in Colombo.

2018 (before CoV-19 was unheard off), we had the pleasure to experince the hospitality at Ellens Place. Centrally located and close to many amenities and visiting places in Colombo. Our stay was very well taken care off by Mr. Sudarshan!

Beautiful place, relaxing atmosphere, went for the sushi experience, starters were superb howerver the main course I ordered was a bit of a disappointment. It could have tasted better with less salt and mirin. Didn't have the umami🤔

One more thing it also has a well maintained pool surrounded by trees.

We had a very nice stay at Ellen‘s place! Great breakfast & super friendly staff that helped us out with our questions when we first arrived in Colombo.

En oas i Colombo. Vi spenderade totalt 8 nätter här. Fantastiskt trevliga människor som jobbar på Ellens place. Nära till Nationalmuseum och naturhistoriska museet. Konstskola i närheten som ställer ut gatukonst utmed vägen. Vi promenerar mycket men åker även gärna tuc-tuc och Ellens Place är en perfekt utgångspunkt till massor av intressanta platser i Colombo för den som gillar storstad mer än bara sol och bad på Sri Lanka. Rekommenderar verkligen The Air Force-museum för er andra vetgiriga. Hotellets vackra innergård med en liten mysig pool är perfekt för ett kvällsdopp för trötta fötter och filosoferande.

Very friendly staff, by the end of a few days, the staff were more like friends than staff. Helpful and kind, a very pleasant experience. Rooms were comfortable, clean, and wifi is free and works fine.

The place by itself was very good but it is hell to locate it. It fails google, even the city map is wrong. The street has only 3 houses and is called avenue. No taxi or tuk tuk driver in colombo could reach here without calling the hotel. Hope hotel will specify its location as I suggested them.
