Awesome river safari, we liked it soooo much. We saw a lot of crocodiles and our guide Chamat was really the best. He showed us all the crocodiles and I don’t know how he sees them but he does. We also had a great experience feeding monkeys and received lottos flowers as a gift 🥹🥰 Highly recommend

Eine wirklich tolle Tour! Es hat keine Minute gedauert, da haben wir bereits das erste Krokodil gesehen. In Summe waren es 8 Stück (davon sogar zwei Baby Krokodile). Wir sind super happy gewesen. Preis/Leistung ist top. 6.000 pro Person für eine private Tour, inklusive Wasser, Kokosnuss & Obst-Platte. Danke an Nipuna!!!

Très belle expérience, nous avons pu observer plusieurs crocodile ! Du plus gros aux bébés trop mignon ! En fin de journée la balade en bateau est très reposante et agréable ! Nous avons aussi vu des milliers de chauve souris énorme ! Et donner des fruits à des singes très gentils ! Notre capitaine a été très agréable et nous a préparé un plateau de fruit avec de l’eau de coco ! Le tout avec le sourire et un prix raisonnable !

It's not just crocodile ！！！We can see so many birds even eagle, and！！！we can get to feed wild MONKEYS.！！！The tour guide Neel is amazing ，he can spot the baby crocodile in such a long distance and softy approach them. This trip is one of the best I had in Sri Lanka.

We recently visited Nilwala Crocodile Safari Matara during our trip to the south coast. Overall, it was a good experience and we were able to see several crocodiles, birds, monkeys, and other wildlife along the river. The river itself is beautiful and peaceful, and the boat ride gives you a nice opportunity to enjoy nature away from the busy town area. The staff and boat crew were friendly, helpful, and tried their best to make the trip enjoyable for everyone on board. The guides were knowledgeable about the area and explained a lot about the crocodiles and the surrounding ecosystem. We also appreciated the effort they made to help guests spot wildlife that can sometimes be difficult to notice. The scenery along the Nilwala River is very attractive and there are plenty of opportunities to take nice photos. However, the main disappointment for us was the pricing. While the experience was good, we felt that the cost was quite high compared to what was offered. In our opinion, the value for money is not the strongest point of this safari. If you compare it with a Madu River Safari, you can often get a much more complete experience for a more reasonable price. Madu River offers a wider variety of attractions and activities during the boat ride, making it feel like better overall value. That said, if your main interest is seeing crocodiles in their natural habitat, this safari is still worth considering. The staff are friendly, the river is beautiful, and the wildlife sightings can be exciting. We enjoyed our visit, but we hope the pricing can be reviewed in the future to make the experience more attractive for a wider range of travelers.

Nil der Besitzer und Guide ist super freundlich! Er hat sich extrem viel Mühe gegeben, überall angehalten und selbst beobachtet, ob Tiere zu sehen sind. Er hat uns sehr viel Obst zur Verfügung gestellt, um Affen zu füttern. Die Affen sind sogar auf unser Boot gesprungen und haben das Obst aus unseren Händen gegessen. Am Schluss haben wir noch King Coconut bekommen und Mango, Ananas und Bananen zum Essen. Tiere haben wir 2 große Krokodile und mehrere Baby Krokodile gesehen. Zusätzlich noch Affen, Warane und Mengen an Flughunden. Ist auf jeden Fall jeden Cent wert! Sehr zu empfehlen. Wir haben eine Tour um ca 10:30 Uhr morgens genommen.

Very cool experience! We saw a good number of crocodiles and their young as well as birds and a whole monkey gang. Ashan was a great guide who kept us informed and entertained throughout.

It was just great. For 6000 LRK (16.5€) it is extremely worth it, goes on for 2 hours so you really can enjoy it; the boat is clean and the guide we had spoke great English, also he was GREAT at spotting animals, you are sure you won’t miss them. We saw crocodiles, king fish birds, eagles, herons, monkeys (also fed them from really close) and a colony of huge flying foxes- like thousands of them. The fruit is abundant, and they all provided water. Not too busy and just worth every penny.

We did a crocodile river tour and had a great experience. Our guide, Buddika, picked us up at Matara bus station after we had easily taken the bus from Mirissa on our own. When we arrived, the boat was already waiting, and we shared it with two other guests. The guide sat behind us and enthusiastically explained everything we saw along the way, especially the wildlife and crocodiles. Both the guide and the boat captain were very skilled at spotting crocodiles from far away and pointing them out to us. During the tour we were treated to a fresh coconut and a plate of fruit. At the end of the trip, we stopped near a tree full of monkeys and were able to feed them some of the leftover fruit. Overall, it was a very enjoyable tour and a nice change of scenery, after mostly seeing beaches, it was great to experience a different side of the country on the river.

Crocodiles! Real live crocodiles, with big pointy teeth! We saw one out of the water, just lounging around on the bank, others in the river - just a snout before they slid below the surface - and a tiddler, barely a foot long, chilling on a branch. And there was lots else to see: a two metre monitor lizard, tongue flicking; a brace of kingfishers, among many other birds; trees full of enormous fruit bats; and a bunch of lively monkeys obviously well accustomed to taking bananas from strangers. The boatman was friendly, and eagle-eyed in pointing things out, and as a nice bonus, there was a selection of freshly-peeled/cut up fruit: pineapple, papaya and bananas. A really enjoyable couple of hours.

Wizyta w Nilwala Crocodile Safari Matara była absolutnie wspaniałym przeżyciem! Przepiękne widoki, niesamowita przyroda i mnóstwo zwierząt – widzieliśmy krokodyle, wiele gatunków ptaków, warana oraz małpy. Safari trwało ponad 2 godziny i było pełne emocji. Ogromnym, bardzo miłym zaskoczeniem były zimne napoje dla każdego uczestnika oraz świeże owoce. Podczas naszej wycieczki przewodnik bardzo się starał, aby pokazać nam imponujący okaz ogromnego krokodyla – i udało się, mimo że czas safari dobiegał już końca. Bardzo dziękujemy za tę fantastyczną wycieczkę i z czystym sumieniem polecamy każdemu! 🌿🐊

Neel and Ashan took us for an awesome and calm ride. We saw crocodiles, monkies, lots of birds including thousands of bats. They provided fresh fruit and pleasant company. Can recommend!

Great experience overall! The Nilwala Duke Safari in Matara was relaxing and offered beautiful views of the river and mangroves. We were lucky to see several crocodiles 🐊, which was definitely the highlight. The guide was friendly and tried to show us as many animals as possible. Just keep in mind that sightings depend on nature, so nothing is guaranteed. Definitely recommended for a calm and unique nature experience!

We had a great time, the Chamath guide showed us a lot of crocodiles, and also responded when one of our company needed a toilet. Well, who else will find a toilet in the jungle among crocodiles and voracious monkeys!! There were many different birds and quite friendly monkeys. He also treated us with fruits. We got a lot of impressions and are very satisfied, we recommend it.

Un’esperienza indimenticabile! Abbiamo visto ben sette coccodrilli e una famiglia di scimmie. Lo staff è molto gentile e il tour dura 2 ore così da vedere tutto con calma. Il fiume è tranquillo e la vegetazione caratteristica!

We had a wonderful experience on the crocodile safari. We saw several crocodiles, monkeys, and birds along all the way. The landscape was absolutely stunning and incredibly relaxing. The boat ride itself was great, and the crew was super friendly, professional, and made us feel safe and welcome throughout the entire experience!! 🐊

honestly 10/10 experience! we saw 6 crocodiles, fruit bats and some beautiful birds. guide was a very nice guy and a great driver. it felt like a very authentic experience, without any crowds (we were the only boat on the river). price also very reasonable! but the best part of it for us was feeding the monkeys, which I will never forget.

L’expérience Nilwala Crocodile est incroyable ! Les guides sont supers sympa et ils ont des yeux de sniper pour trouver les crocodiles. Ils sont aux petits soins, il y a un plateau de fruit qui accompagne votre visite. J’ai tellement aimé que j’y suis retourné 2x et ça valait le coup car j’ai pu voir d’autres crocodiles sur différents spots. Je recommande fortement !
