What stood out most was how peaceful the whole place felt, even before I went inside. The building is beautiful to walk around, and the gardens are kept really well — flowers, paths, and quiet spots to sit for a bit. The people on site were welcoming and helpful without making the visit feel formal or pressured. Inside was very calm, and I appreciated the clear reminders about no photos so the space stays respectful. No appointment was needed, and there was no wait when I went. A good place to slow down, reflect, or just enjoy the architecture and grounds.

My visit to the Baháʼí House of Worship in Wilmette, Illinois was truly unforgettable. The Baháʼí House of Worship is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places I’ve ever experienced. The temple itself is breathtaking, with intricate architecture and delicate details that seem to glow in the light, creating an atmosphere that feels both majestic and welcoming. What made the experience even more special were the surrounding gardens, which are absolutely stunning. The grounds are immaculately maintained, with vibrant seasonal flowers, neatly trimmed hedges, and graceful fountains that add a gentle, calming sound to the environment. Walking along the winding paths through the gardens felt incredibly peaceful—almost like stepping into a sanctuary within a sanctuary. Every section of the garden seems thoughtfully designed, offering places to pause, reflect, and enjoy the natural beauty. The gardens complement the temple perfectly, enhancing the sense of tranquility and harmony that defines the entire property. Sitting on a bench among the flowers and greenery, I felt a deep sense of calm and reflection. It’s a place that encourages quiet thought, gratitude, and appreciation for both nature and spiritual beauty. I came to visit for the first time with my wife in the morning on a weekday, and it was not crowded at all. We stayed for a few hours and even had the chance to say some prayers. Free parking is available on-site. The CTA Purple Line Linden Station is a few blocks away. Also, make sure to read the photography guidelines to be respectful of this place. Whether you’re drawn by the remarkable architecture, the serene gardens, or the opportunity for quiet reflection, this is a place that leaves a lasting impression. The beauty, peacefulness, and uplifting atmosphere make it an incredibly enlightening destination that I would recommend to anyone visiting the area.

The Bahá’í House of Worship in Wilmette is truly a breathtaking and peaceful place 🌿✨. The gardens are beautifully cared for, with every detail looking so neat and inviting 🌸. The architecture is absolutely stunning - you can admire it from any angle and still be amazed 😍. When we stepped inside to pray, the atmosphere was so calm and quiet that it felt deeply moving and special 🙏💫. It’s one of those places where anyone, no matter their beliefs, can feel welcomed and take a moment to reflect and find inner peace. I would definitely recommend visiting at least once! 💖

On our way back from Chicago, my friend and I stopped at the North American Baháʼí House of Worship. I don’t agree with all of their beliefs, but the space itself is really something. Peaceful, intentional. The gardens, the flowers represent different religions, different expressions of the same bigger thing. Not separate, competing…just different versions growing side by side. It was interesting to learn about this religion, its start, followers and impact in the world.

Visited the Bahá’í House of Worship and absolutely loved it. Such a peaceful and beautiful place. The architecture is stunning and the gardens are very relaxing. Pictures don’t do it justice. Definitely worth visiting if you’re near Chicago.

So beautiful yet so sad. This is a house of prayer. The religion doesn't have a pastor or designated leader. It focuses more on a sense of calming. Has completely missed the purpose of coming together to worship the one true God.

During my vacation and time off from work. I was able to stop by the Baha'i House of Worship to find a little peace and quiet from this noisy world. All cultures are accepted and there's no need to make an appointment. And before you go inside the temple. Be aware of the signs surrounding you because there's no pictures taken inside the temple.

A breathtaking space for a deeply meaningful celebration I recently had the honor of photographing my very first Bahá’í wedding at the Bahá'í House of Worship, and it was an unforgettable experience. The temple itself is absolutely stunning — with its intricate architecture, peaceful gardens, and serene atmosphere, it provided the perfect backdrop for a truly special day. What stood out even more than the beauty of the location was the genuine sense of presence and spirituality throughout the ceremony. Bahá’í weddings are centered around unity, love, and equality, and the energy in the space reflected those values deeply. The ceremony itself is typically simple, with a focus on prayer and a single vow that the couple each recites: "We will all, verily, abide by the will of God." It’s a tradition rooted in intention and mutual commitment, and photographing it felt both sacred and grounding. The Bahá'í House of Worship in Wilmette is not just a venue — it's a place of reflection, open to people of all backgrounds and beliefs. As a photographer, I was incredibly inspired by the natural light, the architectural detail, and the calm energy of the space. If you ever have the opportunity to attend or document a Bahá’í wedding here, it’s something truly special. I’m deeply grateful for the experience and would highly recommend this location for anyone seeking a spiritual and visually stunning setting.

Imponujący obiekt sakralny, którego konstrukcja opiera się na matematycznej i symbolicznej roli liczby 9 (dziewięć wejść, symetryczna struktura kopuły). Nabożeństwo ma unikalny charakter – brak tu rytuałów, a skupienie buduje śpiew a cappella i recytacja tekstów. Akustyka wnętrza i panująca tam energia robią ogromne wrażenie

An absolutely beautiful place to spend time reflecting, practicing minfulness and praying. In addition to its beauty, upon entry, you'll find that the environment is friendly and the staff are welcoming. The staff on site are eager to assist and share their knowledge. I visited the grounds in May.

The Baha’i house of worship was interesting experience for me primarily because I was given information about how this religion came into being. The temple itself is beautiful and very well kept. I can’t comment on the religion because i believe everyone’s religion is personal but overall since there’s only one in the whole North American region, it’s definitely a place someone should visit.

This temple is both a Chicago landmark and a Chicago Mecca. What’s sad is that I’m from Chicago and never visited here until a friend from California wanted to go. They were shocked that I wasn’t here till now. What was equally shocking was the jaw-dropping majesty of this place. That’s how it can be in Chicago; so much is there that it gets unfortunately taken for granted. I strongly recommend that whether you’re from Chicago or not, visit here at least once. It took thirty years to build this beautiful temple. Take your time and take it all in, both inside and out. Ponder the sacred inscriptions above the entrances (outside) and above the alcoves (sanctuary interior nooks). The peace here lifts your soul above the ground-level madness and distractions which drain us all. Parking can be tricky, but a visit is more than worth it!
