We stayed at The Artist House as a group of 11 and booked 6 rooms after directly coordinating with the property. In fact, we had tried visiting last year but were informed it was under renovation. This year, assuming the renovation had elevated the overall experience, we decided to book again. Unfortunately, what we experienced was far from what was promised.
Let me begin with transparency. Before booking, we confirmed the amenities. However, upon arrival, we were casually informed that the pool was under maintenance and inaccessible. What was disappointing was not just the closure, but the way it was handled. When we mentioned that this had not been communicated earlier, the reception staff, including Priyanshu (whose name appears repeatedly in glowing reviews), chose to argue and insist that we had been informed. A simple acknowledgment would have resolved the situation. Instead, the conversation turned into an attempt to prove us wrong. Hospitality is not about winning arguments — it is about handling guests with maturity.
Unfortunately, this was only the beginning.
For two full days:
* The ACs in the rooms did not function properly.
* One of the rooms had no water supply in the bathroom.
* Toilet flush systems were not working in some rooms.
* Hygiene standards were not satisfactory.
* Room service was unstructured and inattentive.
When we requested an ice bucket, the staff brought a regular household bucket. That level of understanding reflects the overall training standards of the team.
The WiFi situation deserves special mention. The signal worked only when standing near reception. My room was barely 10 feet away, yet I could not connect properly. I had to use my personal mobile hotspot to complete work. In today’s time, reliable internet is a basic expectation, not a luxury.
The breakfast experience was equally inconsistent. On Day 1, when we asked for an omelette, we were told boiled eggs and omelettes are served in rotation. On Day 2, we were informed omelettes would not be served at all — but boiled eggs were available. That level of coordination speaks for itself. The food overall lacked balance — minimal seasoning in some dishes and excessive spice in others.
What was more concerning was that during the entire two-day stay, despite multiple issues across multiple rooms, management did not step in or visit once to understand guest concerns.
The primary reason we selected this property was for the club and the weekend crowd. However, even on a weekend night, there was barely any crowd except a few families staying at the property. It felt like the place has lost the energy and reputation it once may have had.
We chose this property after reading repeated praise for Priyanshu and the hospitality standards. Based on our experience, the service did not reflect those reviews at all. Renovation may change walls and paint, but without trained staff, accountability, and guest-focused management, the experience remains unchanged.
If this is the standard after renovation, one can only imagine what the pre-renovation experience might have been.
This stay was deeply disappointing for our entire group. We hope the management reflects seriously on operations, staff training, maintenance, and guest communication. Until then, future guests should reconfirm every single facility in writing before booking.
