***TERRIFYING EXPERIENCE, MEDICALLY NEGLIGENT FACILITY NEEDLESSLY PUT OUR CHILD'S LIFE IN DANGER***
Posting mostly about Labor & Delivery at WK South. They let my significant other have our baby in the toilet after we were completely admitted into the hospital. They put her in an observation room (after she was admitted with a ruptured amniotic sac). They let her go through labor for OVER 6 HOURS while insisting that she was not in labor. No epidural was offered. Doctor was told by nursing staff that she was not in labor. She was clearly in extreme pain, and the idiotic nurses kept looking at the monitor, which was either malfunctioning or incorrectly placed, and completely ignored her very clear symptoms of being in active labor.
They let her get up and go to the toilet while we're both insisting that the baby is coming. At one point one of their nurses raised her voice and exclaimed "WELL, WHAT DO YOU WANT US TO DO ABOUT IT?!" in reference to the pain while she was on the toilet. Our nurses disappeared during a shift change with her still on the toilet and crying her eyes out.
Baby was born into the toilet, NONE of the necessary implements for delivery of a baby. Our baby had to be treated for sepsis because of how it was born. Spent 11 days in the Newborn ICU. The NICU nurses were great, though. Their charge nurse Kim was a complete and total hero. She showed up after baby was born, and started ordering all the completely shocked nurses in the observation room to get what was needed. They were shocked because the room was never meant to be used as a delivery room, and there was nothing in the room that was needed, including a delivery bed.
My problem was never with their NICU. But Labor and Delivery at WK South is guilty of medical negligence, and it was a completely and totally horrific experience. She had a completely natural birth and it was the worst pain she's ever experienced. Epidural was in her birthing plan. I didn't get to cut the cord, and they didn't seem to care at all.
Nursing staff didn't even call her doctor until after baby was born.
Tried to resolve it, and they just seem to want to pretend like everything is fine and they did nothing wrong. If you have any other option of place to have your baby, then you should seriously consider having it elsewhere. This was well below a satisfactory standard of care, and our baby could've died.
I have pictures to prove this, but I can't post them here for obvious reasons.
