Low educational quality, not using mathematical models frequently as other engineering branches, pushing on memorising stuff that you can find in chemical and engineering handbooks instead of exploring concepts in detail with a built-up approach, trying to justify material phenomenas instead of finding an appropriate theory that is nite in formalism as well as approximately matching reality. If you're interested in mechanical engineering, be aware that this major can not fit as an alternative at all. Also note that when they claim their major is a composition of mechanical engineering, physics and chemistry, this statement leads to a misconception that I'm going to point it out. You see, their point of view to all of the previously discussed topics is a chemical one with such a high resemblance that it is safe to get assumed as the POV of a chemist. In other words, an approximate weighting to these topics looking from the lens of this school of SUT, is something like this: chemistry: 80% physics: 15% mechanical engineering: 5% At the end, note that these numbers are not representing any certain data, they are just something that you would experience yourself while taking classes in this school.

Sacrificing precision happens quite often in this department of SUT in considerable amounts in vast number of classes. Although every single person in this department knows about the previous fact more or less, no one talks about it. Maybe this is for maintenance of their so-called reputation. If you take a "dynamics" course in the department of mechanical engineering and compare the education quality with for example a course in this department like "mechanical properties of materials", you would clearly see the difference that i am talking about. you would find the instructor of dynamics understanding the classical mechanics at a core level that is comparable to a physicist easily. At the same time, you would find the instructor for mechanical properties of materials struggling to define basic conspets. Like they use the terms like "stress field", "strain field", "boltzman dist" and "stacking fault energy", but when you demand for definition, the only thing you get is surprised faces. Knowing how to preform simple mathematical objectives is like magic in this society. Be carefull about choosing this major, because observing low educational quality, would burn you inside when you see that there is no such things in other departments. that was my experience as an undergrad student. If you love mathematics and physics in a built-up approach, you would suffer from vast amount of lacking in precision and theory for 4 years.
