The University of Edinburgh feels like learning wrapped in legend. Historic buildings, sharp minds, and a calm academic energy all come together beautifully. Walking through the campus, you sense centuries of ideas still whispering forward—serious about knowledge, yet quietly inspiring.

校园不算特别大,很古典,南边有大片草地,适合跑步和骑车。路过可能是商学院的教学楼还有医学院,建筑很漂亮。

Stayed in University student dormitiry room while attending the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (available on Booking.com). Four nights in a single room (shared bathroom) with breakfast included ran about $125 USD per night. Beautiful campus, clean and comfortable room, plenty of hot water. Highly recommend for solo travelers. Great price for housing during Fringe when prices go sky high.

My daughter is an international student there, and she is having the best time of her life! The school is beautiful and has a rich history. My only complaint is the souvenir store. The service isn’t great at all, and they don’t have a variety of merchandise to buy!

The world's oldest student union, and following a recent refurbishment, this modern hub makes for a vibrant, buzzing social space to hang out for students and members of the public. Beautifully decorated and retaining original features, various bars are located on different levels offering good priced drinks and food. Super quick kitchen service. As a former student, my visit was a nostalgic trip down memory lane.

What started as a simple idea to take a look around the university buildings of Edinburgh turned into a private tour in and around several of them, led by Calum Porter, the charming janitor. While we were still admiring the buildings from the outside, Calum approached us and asked if we’d like to see a bit more. From there, one surprise followed another. We were guided through various rooms and buildings of the university — breathtaking spaces that even many locals don’t seem to know about. The highlight was undoubtedly the university’s graduation hall, though we’ll never forget the “shiny bum” at the Old College either. We can honestly say this tour was the highlight of our exploration of this beautiful city. Thanks again, Calum!

I recently visited the University of Edinburgh, and I was thoroughly impressed! The campus is beautifully spread throughout the city, blending seamlessly with its surroundings. The availability of useful tourist information guides made our visit even more enjoyable, and we appreciated the free Wi-Fi throughout the area. The architecture of the buildings is stunning, showcasing a rich history and vibrant atmosphere. We were fortunate to meet a friendly student who offered us an impromptu tour, which added a personal touch to our experience. Highly recommend visiting if you're in Edinburgh!

The university of Edinburgh is dozens of buildings spread throughout Edinburgh, every visit is different, providing a rating for the whole university based on one visit doesn't make sense. However, I visited a location called InSpace where I saw a number of student data visualisation ideas as part of the Edinburgh Science Festival. With 29 exhibits it was obviously a mixed bag, but I enjoyed it. It's closed now so this review won't help you.

My recent visit to the Arts University of Edinburgh was a truly enriching experience. The lush greenery that envelops the campus, coupled with the castle-like architecture, created a picturesque setting that exuded creativity and inspiration. Exploring the campus's nooks and crannies led me to discover an amazing cafe where I found a perfect spot to reflect and engage with the artistic ambiance. The blend of nature, history, and artistic energy at the university left me invigorated and eager to delve deeper into the world of creativity. I look forward to the possibility of returning to this unique environment , sending my students to study here and perhaps collaborating with the talented individuals who call the Arts University of Edinburgh their creative home.

Positive reviews of this university often focus on its appearance rather than the quality of education or the attitude towards students. If you're considering it, here's a firsthand account. We recommend thinking twice before choosing the University of Edinburgh for your education. My daughter spent two years there studying architecture and was shocked by her experience. Firstly, during her entire first year, the teachers were mostly on strike, yet full payment was required, and it is not cheap. Secondly, they periodically brought in individuals without any background in architecture to teach, who also lacked teaching skills. At the end of the year, with minimal guidance, students took exams and submitted their models in April, only to be told that they wouldn't know the results until September! The results finally arrived at the end of September, less than two weeks before the start of the second year. All the paying students failed the first year without any feedback or reasoning, while the local, non-paying students advanced to the second year. When asked for support, the student support team offered no help, coldly suggesting they could provide a dropout form. Meanwhile, they were very efficient at enforcing payment for studies for the year 2. Year two was not much better. Although results were delivered more promptly, the quality of education remained low. Despite having all the results and our early request to change the direction of studies, and despite their promise to respond promptly, we have heard nothing from the university as of the last working day in August 2024. Yet, they continue to send reminders to pay and register. Fortunately, recognizing this attitude, we found a better school that was happy to accept my daughter, and the communication there has been excellent. This information can be easily confirmed by the trends in this University’s rankings.

Just attended a graduation at the McEwen hall. An institution that stood the test of time. Assisting students to improve themselves with wisdom and experiences. Making the world a better place. Amazing and congratulations to each and every student that graced this space.

This University has a Professor or Instructor, named Dr Loqman Radpey, a Research Fellow at the Middle East Forum. On Jan 11, 2026, he wrote an article on the Jerusalem Post. The title is "Don’t impose another Persian dictator on a multinational Iran". His article is full of false statements and claims. I have no idea how he is qualified to be teaching at your University. This is my response to him for his article: Educate yourself Loqman Radpey You are taking advantage of democracy by spreading lies. A few things you need to know: 1- Iran has always been Iran. It has not occupied any of its current territories. It's one nation and has always been one nation. It has always had different ethnicities, who have been living together with peace inside of one State. 2- Since the Islamization of Iran, only 2 Iranian dynasties have been Persian, Zand and Pahlavi, and neither of them ruled for too long. So don't say that the Kurds have been ruled by the Persian ethnicity, pretending you guys have been poor or discriminated against throughout the whole history. 3- The Kurds have gone through some tough times within the last 100 years, more than the other Iranian ethnicities have. Not because of other Iranian ethnicities, or other citizens of Iran; but because of a few Officials who were and are holding the power. In Iran we've never had clashes between different ethnicities (civilian groups against civilian groups). Iran is not Iraq, Turkey, or Syria, for the reasons I told you; In summary, Iran has always been Iran and it's not a new State. Now for 1 minute imagine a new State is declared tomorrow, named Kurdistan. How its people are going to survive when it only has a land border and no open sea. Every State behind that border does not recognize Kurdistan. Can the people inside Kurdistan survive without any access to the outside World? So even for the sake of the Kurds, stop spreading fake and wrong ideas into the Public. Otherwise you are doing no favours to the Kurds but putting their future under harmful risk. You should be speaking about unity and take Switzerland and Belgium as examples when you speak and write your articles. It's very sad to see how you have been misled, and how you are spreading lies, intentionally, or not intentionally from lack of knowledge about history, and lack of vision for the future of our people. And about your comment that the Persians first say they are Persian and then they say they are Iranian when asked further. This has been happening since 1979 only among some of the Iranians who live outside of Iran. Because the Islamic Republic has left no good image for Iran it has become embarrassing for the Iranians to say that they are Iranian outside of Iran. They don't say they are Persian because they are different from the Kurds. We are all Iranian. That was another thing that I'm surprised you didn't know. Maybe you lied about this one too.

Last year, I studied my MSc in East Asian Studies here. I knew it was an interdisciplinary subject I enrolled in. However, I expected to be able to take the courses I wanted to fulfil my specific pursuit (History of East Asia, regardless of countries and time periods), but I ended up being unable to get what I wanted freely due to limited course choices and capacity. This forced me to study courses outside my interests and familiar areas. It also highlighted another problem, namely the weakest Japanese pathway, the uneven Chinese pathway, and the centre of focus on Korean studies. It just provides language courses in the Korean pathway, without Japanese and Chinese ones. It also mostly focuses on contemporary topics, which shows the limited language proficiency of the teaching staff. Due to the difficulties of course registration, I could only have the title of East Asian Studies with Chinese Studies, which doesn't fulfil my pursuit of pure East Asian Studies to display my focus on East Asia as a whole and to take a comparative or transnational approach. So disappointed!!
