French Creperie

This place is fantastic! They make excellent savory crepes, perfect for breakfast lunch or dinner. The best part is that you can get any crepe made gluten-free! The owner is incredibly sweet. We got such amazing service that we returned every day during our time in Kathmandu!

Glad to find a gluten free option in Kathmandu. They showed me where they make the gluten free buckwheat crepe on a separate burner from the non-gf options. Of course there is a cross contamination potential in the kitchen space, but they told me about their cleaning process and where the gluten free galettes are cooked– and I did not get sick! Thank you for a safe gluten free meal!! 🙏

I discovered this place thanks to the reviews — otherwise I would’ve never found it. And I’m so glad I did, because the buckwheat galettes are absolutely delicious! They use a gluten-free buckwheat batter with no dairy, so not only does it taste amazing, it also feels good for your body. The team is super flexible with ingredients — they usually offer more complete options, but they were totally happy to adapt the dish just the way I wanted. Everyone was so kind and welcoming that I truly felt like one of them. I’m really grateful for the flavor, their willingness to accommodate dietary needs, and their warm attitude.

It was a brilliant idea of the owner’s wife to open a French crêperie in Kathmandu. While reading the menu, we felt like ordering everything! The staff was very friendly and helped us decide what to get. My galette and my husband’s crêpe were served with Nepali coffee. While we enjoyed the lovely presentation, the galette itself was quite different from the typical French buckwheat galettes we’ve had before — as another reviewer mentioned, it tasted more like a giant thin chapati than a galette or crêpe. The cleanliness of the café could also be improved, or visitors should adjust their expectations. That said, we really appreciated the owner’s help in arranging a rickshaw to take us back to the hotel during heavy rain. If you’re in the neighborhood, it’s worth stopping by — perhaps you’ll find something you’d like to try from their extensive menu.

Cost little outdoor place. Totally relaxed. Awesome food because great doesn't do it justice. I had the vegan avocado toast and did not even feel I was vegan. Every ingredient fine to perfection and then pared together. If you go Thamel, you have to try it.

Petite guinguette desuette adorable, perdue au milieu de Thamel. Crêpes bretonnes comme si vous y étiez. Prix très raisonnables. Je recommande vivement.

À tous les français: très bonnes crêpes très proches de ce qu’on trouve chez nous (on en a mangé au Nutella)!! The staff was very friendly and kind and the crepe was very tasty and close to what we find in France. The vibe is also more authentic than the rest of Thamel - highly recommended

I tried the veg and vegan bowl at French Creperie, and it was absolutely amazing! The combination of fresh ingredients—perfectly cooked veggies, flavorful hummus, and grilled tofu—was not only healthy but bursting with taste. Everything felt thoughtfully prepared, and you can tell they use high-quality, fresh produce. The portion was generous, and the balance of textures and flavors was spot on. Whether you’re vegan, vegetarian, or just someone who enjoys wholesome food, this dish is a must-try. A beautiful spot with great vibes and even better food!

I found out about this place on a Celiac Travel Blog and wow I'm so glad I found it. I have been everyday for the last 4 days and I have taken my whole travel group with me (they simply love it too and they don't even need gluten free like me) The crepes, both savoury and sweet, are to die for. I have eaten many, and I have not once been disappointed. All the food, drinks and ice are 100% safe and the owners and staff take great care. It is an oasis in the middle of Kathmandu. Trust me just go. And I have included some images to help you find the place (it is tucked away but trust me it's worth it). *** 3 years later and I'm back again. Nothing has changed. This place is still so so good. I recommend it to everyone. I wish I could write another review Just go Enjoy

Had the Nutella crepe and asked to have strawberries added. The chocolate did not taste at all like Nutella and was diluted and tasteless - which ruined the experience. Also ordered the chamomile tea which was a teabag one.

Наша любимое место для завтраков. Помимо того что там очень вкусные блинчики с начинками, так ещё это глютен фри опция, которую мало где можно найти.

I arrived 1 hour before they close. The place looks great and very comfortable. The staff are super friendly and nice.

We were looking for a Garden cafe and found the perfect spot. There are pebbles in some area where our child was playing, next time when we came it was little wet and good to sit barefit. The food is with fresh ingredients and super nice, gluten free options are there. We didn't liked the cocktails but maybe also because we chose with the local alcohol. A very homely place with good food and staff.

Nous avions hâte avec mon mari de tester French crêperie mais à Katmandou cette fois-ci. Nous avions était totalement conquis par cette crêperie à Pokhara et avions passé beaucoup de temps la bas à déguster différents plats. Mais une fois arrivé sur place à celle de Thamel nous avons hésité à partir directement. Finalement nous avons décidé de ne pas juger la cuisine au lieu qui ressemble à un endroit abandonné et qui nécessite beaucoup de maintenant. Ce qui est fort dommage car cet endroit est très paisible en retrait de la route. Ma galette n’était pas très bonne et de plus le bacon était totalement passé. Très déçue de cet endroit 🥲 Je ne recommande pas avec le manque d’hygiène total et de professionnalisme…

隨便找了一家法式餐廳，以為是fine dining🤣結果是crepe🤣🤣 但意想不到的美味！！ 我點了vegan的咸crepe. 被滿滿的餡料（？）打倒了 除了可見的餡料，內裡還有炒過的菠菜，真的很美味，還非常飽！！！ 一行人的男生也吃不完 那個mint 飲品很清新，好喝！ 有一位女員工不斷跟兩位日藉客人談天，最後一起唱歌還有跳舞 令整個氣氛很放鬆，開心 很推薦這個地方☺️

Ok I’m a big fan of the French Creperie in Pokhara and had never been to the one here in Kathmandu so it was definitely worth a look. On appearance it is nothing like the one in Pokhara but hey there’s always room for change right. The menu was very similar so let’s go. I already knew what l wanted so l didn’t waste anytime in ordering. 1 big glass of their house made kombucha and we were on our way. The kombucha was great and helped get the stomach ready for the crepe to come. One thing in the meantime which l couldn’t help noticing was the mosquitoes. Because of the stones and moisture on the ground it seems to attract them. The appearance of the restaurant isn’t the greatest and could use a revamp to bring it back up to scratch. The crepe had arrived and looked fantastic. The flavours and taste were great though it was cold which was the only let down.

Une petite crêperie tranquille, calme, avec des gens sympas et des galettes comme à la maison. J'y vais à chaque retour de trek et c'est chaque fois le plaisir de se sentir en Bretagne. Je recommande à 100%

Nous avons été enchantés par ce petit coin tranquille, loin du tumulte des rues passantes. Au fond de la ruelle se trouve ce restaurant dans lequel nous avons tout gouté: crêpes, wraps, salade, plateau de fromage etc. Tout est délicieux. Nous sommes revenus plusieurs fois avec nos jeunes enfants et nous sommes régalés! La gentillesse de la générante nous a particulièrement touché : apprenant que c’était l’anniversaire de notre fille de 8 ans, elle a offert 2 crêpes au Nutella avec bougies!! Il ne faut pas passer à côté d’un petit restau aussi sympa! Excellent rapport qualité -prix (600 roupies /pers environ). Foncez!!
