I recently visited Galle Face Green, located in the heart of Colombo city, and while it remains a popular tourist attraction with a beautiful beach view, the current condition is quite disappointing. The ground area is not properly maintained, with many potholes and puddles making it inconvenient and unsafe to walk. Cleanliness is also a major concern—although seating is available, it is not hygienic, and the presence of rats all over the place makes visitors feel uncomfortable. Immediate action should be taken to address this issue. The walking area is frequently disturbed by bicycle riders, which disrupts those who come for a peaceful walk. In addition, people are smoking openly across the space, polluting the air and making it unbearable for non-smokers. Smoking should be strictly restricted to designated areas, with proper signboards displayed. Drinking water facilities also need urgent attention. While taps are available, they are poorly maintained, with moss and dirt, making them unhygienic to use. There are also unpleasant smells in certain parts of the walking area, which further affects the overall experience. This is one of the key tourist attractions in Colombo, and it deserves better care and maintenance. With proper management, cleanliness, and stricter regulations, Galle Face Green can truly reflect its importance and offer a pleasant experience for both locals and visitors.

This is my favorite place in Colombo . I just love this place. The clean air and the atmosphere is amazing. You can walk beside the sea and feel the wind or air , that feeling is amazing. I was lucky to watch flat down ceremony of Sri Lankan military. Also you will find lots of food . This is the best place to spend time at sunset. Highly recommended this place don’t miss this .

I came here it’s actually very nice supposed to be very popular with locals during holidays so I wanted to come along on a bank holiday here. Tried some local street food they have many trucks. I am told it can be a different atmosphere in the night so I was advised not to go as a tourist.

Beautiful park in Colombo that I went to for a New Year's Eve celebration! There was a live show and hundreds of people dancing like crazy. There were also numerous vendors selling goodies and rides for kids, similar to a carnival. Unfortunately there were no bathroom facilities - which was inconvenient but not the end of the world.

だだっ広い海辺の公園と言うところでしょうか。海岸近くにはお店もあるし夕陽を見ながらのんびりできそうですね。でも地元の人はあまりいなかった。暑いからなのか。一度行けば良いかな。

Creo que es de los pocos paseos marítimos que he visto en Sri Lanka 🤣🤣 En Colombo no hay mucho que hacer pero ir aquí al atardecer a ver la puesta de sol con todos los locales y street food es 100% recomendable. Hazlo sin dudarlo, un must de la capital para salir del caos

Nice place to watch the sunset and some only the only street food in Sri Lanka. Just be wary of touts and scammers, they are everywhere. It made it difficult to enjoy because I was approached by some scammer every 2 minutes or so. Still pretty good though. Just remember that if you’re approached by a “kind stranger”, typically it is a scam. There is no secret religious ceremony. There is no government gem shop with half off. Even if you’re good at avoiding scams, if’s just tiring to say no to someone every two minutes. Hopefully the police clean up the con artists soon and make them get a real job.
