Clock tower or Ghantaghar of the past. A monument visible on the roadside. Hope the locals keep it untouched from encroachments, filth and rennovate in the same way it used to be 100-150 yrs back. The surrounding localities have developed into modern bustling towns hubs tarnishing the Rajput heritage looks it once held. The old architecture seems to be getting "culturally polluted" slowly, thanks to the availability of so called "modern" construction techniques, materials and designs.
Just look how beautiful the old cities of London, Rome, Amsterdam and Venice look like.
It is seen in old pictures that Camels, elephants, bullocks and horses and later cycles used to be the mode of transport. Where can tourists get a feel of all that slower pace of life humanity once had?? All we hear is peep-peep of scooters and autos and bikes everywhere! The city is losing its charm with each passing decade! I literally witnessed an accident live in front of my eyes when an auto banged inside a glass handicraft showroom near Jagannath Temple which injured driver and four tourists.
Disheartening to see modern stuff in an ancient city. 😢
