Masjid Ibn Abbas (Upon the Salaf)

I have been part of this community for five years, and I feel it's important to share my experiences regarding the administration, particularly with a member named Keeba. I strongly advise others to refrain from sharing personal matters with the Imam or administration, as it may not be handled with the discretion one would hope for. Keeping your business separate from the masjid might help avoid unnecessary issues. Additionally, Keba's behavior can be particularly challenging; he tends to react negatively if his expectations are not met. His rudeness has affected my family and I, making our experience at the masjid less welcoming. He will be in my dua for the harmed he has cause my family and I until he rectify it. It's disheartening to see how some members of the African community support each other even when they are in the wrong, which can create a divisive environment. While the masjid serves as a vital place for worship and community, I have observed a concerning atmosphere of favoritism between African and American. Which, is not comfortable at all and that’s why is less Americans at that masjid.

This masjid claims to be upon the way of the salad, but they wouldn't allow a sister from out of town to make itikaf during Ramadan. That's two violations in one. First of all, everyone has the right to make itikaf, secondly, every traveler has the right to receive shelter for 3days. This masjid breaks the rules whenever they feel like it and they don't truly fear Allah. Change administration please... Ugh...

Been with this community over 2 years now .. and I love my brothers here .. the imam even visit me during my car and sat with me at my house hold .. alhamdulliah.. may allah guide this ummah in this life and next ameen

Khutbah on Friday starts at 1pm. Try to come early if you want to pray inside but they have prayer mats outside to accommodate large crowds. Ladies are welcome. Just look for the door with "Sisters" sign, next to the men entrance. Most importantly bring cash to buy food after Friday prayer.

Taraweeh prayer there is nice with the Sisters.

Mashaallah. So friendly community, open for daily prayers, some spaces for bobtail, halal market next to the masjid

This was an unpleasant visit. The floors are so dirty. There was trash everywhere. I had to put my head scarf down so that my forehead wouldn’t touch the floors. This is truly unacceptable to see a dirty floor when individuals are coming to pray.

I love this masjid, strictly upon the Qur’an and Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alahi wasalaam and the Ummah is always there for the brothers and sisters! Classes are held everyday after Maghrib. A beautiful place to strive and learn the Deen of Allahu ta’Ala

I am so disappointed with this mosque. I have to share my experience. As a Muslim person the only place we have in the United States to give out charity is the mosque. So when the mosque starts to refuse or reject our charities based on some superstitions it becomes an insult. We all know African Muslims believe more in African traditions and cultures than they believe in Islam. I lost my father five months ago. When I was back home in Mauritania we gave out charity for him every Friday. Once I returned to Atlanta, I sought out advice from a Imam. The Imam told me that the best charity for a deceased person is water and the best day to give charity in Islam is Friday. I found a mosque right next to my house and I started to give them three cases of water every Friday. Keba usually gets the waters out of my car. He will then say may his soul rest in peace and may Allah grant him paradise. I always respond thank you and I drive off. On Friday, May 7 I arrived at the mosque with the waters as usual and Keba said, “ the Imam is questioning why do I come to the mosque every Friday and I bring the same amount of cases . He added , if someone is doing something in Islam that they are repeating on the same day and the same amount they have to show proof. The Imam wants you to either bring 4 cases of water on Tuesday or 10 cases of water on a Wednesday. You cannot only come by on Fridays. You have to come randomly and bring random amounts cases of water. You can just stay home and pray for your late father AND, Keba asked me if you had three cases of liquor would you bring it here? “ At that point I was done with the conversation. one I was very frustrated , two I could not believe in this month of Ramadan a man who works for Allah and works at the mosque could use liquor as an example. I just drove off with my waters. I actually had to call my mother, my sister and few friends to tell them about my horrible encounter. My Family and friends helped me understand what the Iman ‘s assumptions were. The Imam assumed that I had went to a voodoo guy and the voodoo guy probably told me to bring waters to the mosque every Friday. Since we are being judgmental, how can a Imam believe in voodoo? I am Muslim. I believe in Allah and Mohamed(Salalahou Alayhi Wa Salam)

They follow the Quran and Sunnah with the understanding of the Muhammad's companions and those who followed them and those who followed them taking the advise of the bona-fide contemporary scholars and their trustworthy reliable students. May Allah reward them all. Ameen

Very good Masjid, organized and clean Masjid. Saturday has Islamic school. Wodu place and salah area are extremely clean. Alhamdulillah. May Allah bless this community and keep their heart bonded with this Masjid. May be peace upon all people of this city.

Masha Allah I love this Masjid anytime I’m in College Park area I make my way here brothers are warm and welcoming and community on the Haqq!!!

I love this masjid...its a salafi masjid and they're definitely upon the sunnah... Not to mention they have the best food during Ramadan Alhamdulilah!
