Iranatour organised a fantastic three week private tour for me, going from Tehran to Shiraz. The company owners Siavash and Mariam worked with me to craft a great itinerary, adding their knowledge to my initial thoughts of what I’d like to see and experience. Each day of the tour was a different experience; the best of each city, deserts, mountains, culture, archeology, food - I was amazed by the diversity and didn’t overdose on any one thing like mosques or bazaars. Even had a “cave” day, hiking up to the Prophet Jacob's cave & then eating / sleeping in a 2500+ year old cave in Meymand. Logistics were great; Siavash made the visa process really easy (I’m Australian) and booked all hotels, airport pickups etc. There were some stunning hotels along the trip. He also got me a local bank card & sim card, which made life a lot easier as overseas cards don’t work in Iran. Almost every merchant prefers to use the local bank cards vs cash. The actual trip was incredible. I travelled around with a private tour guide Amir who simply is a wonderful human being. He’s got a modern late model SUV, speaks really good English (most Iranians on the street don’t), great sense of humour and really helped me understand & experience the diversity of Iran and its people. Amir is a master at breaking the ice with people and making everything run smoothly - boundless energy and a genuinely funny guy too. Spending three weeks with him was an absolute delight - more like travelling with a friend who happens to know a lot of really useful things and gets things done. Overseas Iran doesn’t get a lot of good press and I was there during the hijab protests, however the reality on the ground is anything but this. The people are some of the most hospitable on earth, the layers of diversity and culture are incredible and I always felt safe. I’m really looking forward to going back to explore more of the country, and will definitely use Iranatour again. An amazing experience!
