Recently visited Jaffna airport. Location: Excellent Atmosphere: Excellent Service: Excellent People's : Excellent and Extraordinary Before entering airport gate security check ( by using equipment) around the car and Baggage. Parking : Yes plenty of parking Before entering to Main gate, checked baggage checking by airport authorities. Once done Passport and Ticket verification. Then custom declaration ( if any ) After that Gate desk.warm welcoming by indigo staffs.Checked baggage making with seals.Then Immigration. The above all in same places. After that waiting hall. 12.30 pm from Jaffna to Chennai (Flight) Extraordinary people's. Everywhere warm welcomes. Drinking water : Yes ( Available) Toilet : Yes ( Neat and clean) Checked baggage carrying with care. Photograph : Allowing Shops: Near waiting hall one shops available. People's are doing their duties with love.

Just visited Jaffna International Airport and really enjoyed the calm and clean atmosphere. Even though I didn’t see any flights at the time, staff mentioned there are two IndiGo flights arriving daily. The place feels peaceful, well-maintained, and welcoming. a nice gateway to Jaffna.

5 stars for cuteness. Jaffna is the cutest terminal I’ve been to. Just three small halls.

One of a small, international airport in Sri Lanka! Done a depature from here, to Trichy. The airport staff is very friendly. in here they are mainly doing their operations with IndiGo

We traveled as a group of 14 from Trichy to Jaffna and had such a unique and enjoyable experience. The flight itself was fun – only about 20 people were on board, which made it feel like a private trip! At the airport, the ground staff were very supportive and attentive. They took special care of my dad, who has a vision problem, ensuring he was comfortable and well-assisted throughout. The airport process was smooth – baggage screening and exit were quick, with no delays. The place is neat, clean, and well-maintained, with useful facilities like an ATM and a refreshment shop inside. Though our bus didn’t arrive on time and we ended up waiting for nearly 7 hours, the experience turned out to be surprisingly pleasant. Since only two flights operate here, the airport officially closed and most officers left for the day, but the environment outside felt like a peaceful park. It was calm, safe, and almost like a picnic atmosphere for our group. The real highlight was the kindness of the staff and military officers. Even after their duty hours, cleaners and staff members kept checking on us, offering to arrange a taxi or bus if needed. Later in the evening, the military officers generously served us tea, which made us feel truly cared for. Their hospitality and friendliness left a lasting impression on us. Despite being stranded, we never felt unsafe or uncomfortable — instead, we felt secure, supported, and welcomed. By 8 PM, our bus finally arrived, but leaving that warm environment felt like leaving behind a special memory. We’ll always remember the incredible people, the beautiful surroundings, and the genuine kindness we experienced at Jaffna Airport. Highly recommend this airport for its cleanliness, efficiency, and above all, the remarkable hospitality of the people working there.

This airport, primarily under the control of the Sri Lanka Air Force, operates as a private facility. It is occasionally used by Indian aircraft, often for official or coordinated purposes. While it is not a commercial airport, civilian visitors are allowed entry following a thorough security check by Air Force personnel. The airport is well-maintained and strategically located, making it a strong candidate for future expansion. With the proper investment and planning, this facility could potentially be developed into a major international airport, further boosting Sri Lanka’s aviation capacity and regional connectivity.

We had an issue with our e-visa for India, which wasn’t really a problem at all. It was a misunderstanding that could have been sorted out quickly. However, an employee named Roshan made a mountain out of a molehill. He has a beard and wears glasses, with a stylishly styled hairstyle. In the end, supervisors and managers got involved and the issue dragged on for two days. Flights had to be rebooked and hotel accommodation arranged for a further two nights. These were costs that could have been avoided if the Indigo staff, particularly the employee Roshan, had communicated the case properly. Upon arrival in Chennai, our destination, it turned out that the supposed problem wasn’t a problem at all. On top of that, there was the disrespectful, unfriendly baggage check-in staff in blue, who were laughing behind our backs and didn’t understand the seriousness of the situation. Thanks for nothing and sheer incompetence. Supervisors and managers tried to help and salvage the situation. It all went very badly, but at least the managers, supervisors and the staff member Abishork are competent. Unfortunately, due to the damage caused, particularly by Roshan, only one star.

This is a small airport and it is quite hassle free. The flights are not available on every day basis but only on alternative days. Since the flight is super small the tickets gets filled up much earlier. There is only one flight from Chennai to Jaffna and Jaffna to Chennai as of now.

Good to have international airport here. I think it only fly to India at the moment.

Indigo is the only flight out is to Chennai. If you are for medical reason use otherwise, it's the worst staff for indigo airlines in my entire life. I am being 100 k flyer, never seen discourteous Indigo staff ( Arnold) in my entire life. Beware not to leave your credit card out of your sight. They charged my two of my Amex ( platinum) and couldn't get it through and then a visa . Finally they realized it was their system error. After the machine charged and printed out, refused to give receipt but only allowed me to take a picture of the receipt. Then they wanted to enter my credit card number ( after charged and approved) manually. This is a suspicious activity and a prelude for credit card scam by Indigo staffs. Indigo is a Rip-off airline. I will give minus rating. Unfortunately they are the only one operating between Jaffna and Chennai. They selectively targeted me being American passport while an Indian passport holder was allowed to take two hand luggage. ( The picture taken while waiting for luggage claim at Chennai of the two hand luggage of other person is attached ). Jaffna airport charges a 100 rupee for any vehicle enter to drop off..This is absolutely a fraud and there are too many people working in the airport for one half empty flight. Many are government waste spending. Between the airport building and plane is less than 40 meters and it's utter stupidity that they use bus. Another government waste of people and petrol / diesel use. DO NOT USE THIS FLIGHT UNLESS MEDICAL REASON

Airport has basic amenities. Since the region is yet to take off as a well connected tourist /temple destination, amenities may improve.

A small airport used by only a few smaller flights. Clean toilet. Friendly staff (immigration, customs, airlines , security). With a small duty fee shop selling alcohol, chocolates

Another International Airport after the Katunayaka International Airport in Sri Lanka. Jaffna International Airport is also known as Palali Airport. It is Sri Lanka's third International Airport. Staff were very friendly & helpful...

Third international airport in srilanka. Limitted flights are operated mainly to India.

This is Palali Airport operated & managed by Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) now entertains domestic flights operated by Helitours a commercial arm affiliated to SLAF. Relatively small airport totally under SLAF which is the gateway from air to Northern part of the country. They provide to & from this airport to Jaffna transport free of charge which is about 15-20 minutes. One way flight from Rathmalana to Palali is 1.5 hourd with LKR 14,500 via Trincomalee stopover & two-way is LKR 29,000. You can have charter flights without touching Trincomalee within 45 min. It's really a nice experience worth having.

The airport is located in the town of Palaly (near Kankesanturai) in the Northern Province of Sri Lanka, about 16 km north of the city of Jaffna. Currently operating following airlines and destinations; International: IndiGo (India) operates daily flights between Chennai and Jaffna. Indigo (India) operates three flights between Tiruchirappalli and Jaffna (Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays) Domestic: Cinnamon Air operates scheduled flights between Colombo (via Bandaranaike International Airport) and Jaffna on Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.  Domestic: David Pieris Aviation offers flights from Colombo (Ratmalana) to Jaffna. 

Très petit aéroport. C'est la première fois que je prends un avion si petit et avec hélices! Sympa!
