Loved staying here as a guest for two nights. The location is excellent, walking distance from everything in Udaipur. However the ambience and aesthetics of this place are supreme. I loved the restaurant and drinks on the rooftop at sunset were lovely. Jayendra was attentive and kind each time. My room was beautiful, laundry was a reasonable price and every staff member from the cleaners, waiters, receptionist, porters and tuk tuk driver were very friendly and kind.

I would have loved to leave a one-star review, but I’ll make it two stars because the hotel itself is undeniably beautiful. Management, however, was an absolute disaster. Before booking, ask yourself whether you’re happy staying somewhere where construction continues late into the evening, where laundry is returned damp, clothing is damaged without compensation, and where management repeatedly assures you everything will be fine, only for the opposite to happen. Despite specifically reminding management twice that our newly purchased cotton clothing needed to be washed separately, multiple items were ruined by dye transfer. No meaningful compensation or accountability was offered. The problems didn’t stop there. On my birthday, a boat booking we had specifically requested was never arranged. During dinner, a waiter licked his finger and wiped a dirty fork in front of us before placing it back on the table. The restaurant food was mediocre at best, with soup that genuinely tasted as though it had come from a tin. What initially seemed charming-the hotel being open to visitors- became a major frustration. Influencers and photographers appeared to have unrestricted access throughout the property. Guests were regularly competing with photoshoots for peaceful spaces. During a morning yoga session, we were interrupted by the sound of high heels, photographers shouting instructions, and a full-scale photoshoot taking place NEXT TO MY YOGA MAT. The concierge team also provided incorrect information about the City Palace, insisting there was no possibility of visiting it before our flight. Had we listened, we would have missed one of the highlights of our trip. Thankfully, our guide from Jaipur knew better and arranged access for us. The final straw came at checkout when we were nearly overcharged by 17,500 rupees. When I questioned the bill, management initially insisted I was wrong. Only after a lengthy discussion was the error corrected, and no apology was offered. Could some of these issues have been human error? Perhaps. But after construction noise, damaged clothing, poor service, incorrect information, billing discrepancies, and a complete lack of accountability, it’s difficult to give management the benefit of the doubt. This hotel is beautiful to look at, but beauty alone cannot make up for management. I want to be clear that all of the employees (Apart from the waiter who scratched the old food off our fork) were lovely. Bhupander saved the day. We loved him. When management wasn’t able to sort out issues for us he was the one who pulled through… I would not stay here again, nor would I recommend it.

The location of this hotel is outstanding as it’s right on Lake Pichola with a fabulous view from the rooftop restaurant and also from the indoor restaurant just below. Very easy to walk through the streets on the Heritage Walk from the hotel and to the City Palace, boat rides and other sights. The food was delicious, though the wait for the meals to arrive was longer than expected - both at lunchtime & in the evening (possibly because lots of tourists come here for the views) - though as a resident we never had to wait for a table. Our haveli room was beautiful, very spacious & clean - with a heater already in the room which we needed for the chilly evenings in January. The hot water ran out quickly in the morning, but we switched off the water heater overnight due to the noise, so perhaps there would’ve more hot water if we’d switched it on sooner. Lovely local musicians playing in the evening and at breakfast time. Would stay here again!

This review is for the restaurant only. Their website says they offer afternoon tea on the rooftop or middle floor and a floating tea on a boat. I pointed their own website to them, but no one knew what I was talking about. I was so hungry from the city palace tour, I just ordered the dessert platter shown on my review. It was good. I was hoping to take a quick photo in one of their nooks, but instead they let a couple that brought their own cake from somewhere else sit there, while I spent $1500 waiting patiently for a photo. Out of the three most photogenic spots: Lake Pichola Hotel, Ambrai, and Jagat Nigwas, Ambrai/Amet Haveli had the best food, top notch service and the garden between the rooms were beautiful. I would stay there out of these 3 on Lake Pichola. I stayed at Hotel Lakend. Which is on a different lake. It's serene, beautiful, and quiet. It has 4 restaurants and all were good, albeit more expensive than Ambrai and the food and selection there was very good.

This place is over hyped like anything. Nothing is worth it. We ordered a veg platter and we were served with 2 hard pieces of paneer, 2 tasteless hara bhara kabab and 2 pieces of God knows what. And for this we paid 1115 rs. The food is really inedible. We lost our tastebuds just by looking at the platter. Guys. I recommend you any other places than this. The view is not that worth it too.

Jagat Niwas Palace is one of the most beautiful places I’ve stayed in Udaipur. The entire property feels like a white marble haveli straight out of a postcard—every corner is incredibly photogenic and peaceful. 🌅 Location & Views The biggest highlight is the location—right on the edge of Lake Pichola. The views from the rooms, restaurant, and terraces are absolutely stunning, especially during sunrise and sunset. It’s also just a short walk from City Palace and other old city spots. 🏨 Ambience & Design The architecture is pure Rajasthani heritage with intricate arches, courtyards, and jharokhas. The vibe is calm, romantic, and luxurious without being over the top. Truly feels like living in a palace. 🍽️ Food & Dining The rooftop and lakeside dining experience is amazing—great food with unbeatable views. Breakfast and dinner both were enjoyable, and the setting makes it even more special. 👨‍💼 Service Staff were warm, polite, and very attentive. Hospitality is one of their strongest points—felt well taken care of throughout the stay.

We had a great time here. The view is exceptional and the food is delicious. The whole property is very Pinterest-worthy and beautifully designed, making it a lovely place to spend time. Jayendra Singh ji, who attended us, was very polite and attended to us very well. We went there for lunch and tried paneer lababdar with roti, jeera rice, dal tadka, and a virgin piña colada—everything was really tasty. One important thing to note is that lunch requires pre-booking 24 hours in advance, while breakfast and dinner do not require reservations. Breakfast is served as a buffet, whereas lunch and dinner are à la carte. We would recommend booking lunch or dinner instead of breakfast, and for lunch it’s best to book the 11:30–1 slot to get the best seating with views. The property has lift access and the washrooms were clean, which made the overall experience comfortable. Definitely a great place for a relaxing meal with a beautiful view.

We recently stayed at your property and overall had a lovely experience. The place is truly beautiful — the view, ambience, and overall aesthetics make it a perfect spot for a relaxing and picturesque stay. The property is very clean and well-maintained, and the pool area is also quite सुंदर and enjoyable. It’s definitely a great place for photography as well. We would especially like to appreciate the staff. The team, including the reception staff, was professional, polite, and well-trained. Their hospitality was commendable and added positively to our experience. The room was also very beautiful and well-designed. However, the only concern was that it felt a bit small considering the price charged. A slightly more spacious room would have made the stay even better. The only major drawback for us was the food. Unfortunately, we found the food to be below average and did not enjoy it as expected. This is one area that definitely needs improvement to match the overall standard of the property. Other than that, we had a really great holiday and enjoyed our stay. Thank you for the hospitality.

this place deserves a 5 star rating with great location and stunning views and interiors, they have maintained the place really well and also all the staffs were very polite but the reason i have given one star is just because of the terrible food they serve, the food costs are high and the quality is the lowest. I wasn’t staying at that place i just went to have a good lunch but ended up waiting for 30 mins and got a very bad experience with the food. You could still go to this place because of social media hype and you can click really good pictures also-the view from rooftop is amazing. So my suggestion would be..visit this place but don’t order much food, just enjoy the view the place is really beautiful.

I recently visited Jagat Niwas Palace Restaurant, and unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. To start with, the staff behaves as if they are doing guests a favor rather than offering hospitality you’re made to feel like you should be grateful just to be there. That attitude really sets a negative tone. The food situation is even worse. A large number of items on the menu are simply unavailable. Even if you manage to place an order, there’s a good chance the kitchen will cancel it later without any proper explanation, which is frustrating. The biggest turn-off, however, was hygiene. The utensils appeared to be only semi-washed, which is completely unacceptable. Honestly, the only thing this place has going for it is the scenic view. It feels like the restaurant is running purely on its location rather than the quality of food or service. Overall, while the view may attract you, the service, food availability, and cleanliness need serious improvement. I wouldn’t recommend it unless these issues are addressed.

I recently visited Jagat Niwas Palace Hotel in Udaipur and had a truly wonderful experience. The food was absolutely delicious – every dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The ambience is very charming and peaceful, giving you that perfect royal and lakeside vibe. The service was good, and the staff was polite and attentive throughout our visit. The cost is a little on the higher side, but considering the stunning location and breathtaking lake view, it feels worth it. The view especially during sunset is simply amazing. One important tip – make sure to book your table at least one day in advance, as it gets quite busy. Overall, it was a very good experience and definitely a place I would recommend for a special outing in Udaipur. 😊

A dreamy heritage stay right on Lake Pichola 🤍 Jagat Niwas Palace is one of the most beautiful places I’ve stayed in Udaipur. Hospitality is one of their strongest points—felt well taken care of throughout the stay. ⸻ ⚠️ Things to keep in mind • Rooms can feel slightly small for the price (you’re paying for location & experience). • The property is popular for photoshoots and visitors, so it can get a bit crowded at times. • Access is through narrow old-city lanes (no direct car access). ⸻ 💬 Final Verdict If you want a heritage, aesthetic, lake-view stay in Udaipur, this place is totally worth it. Perfect for couples, relaxing getaways, and content-worthy stays.

Had an absolutely wonderful stay at Jagat Niwas Palace in Udaipur! The location is unbeatable—right on Lake Pichola—with stunning views that make every moment feel special, especially during sunrise and sunset. The rooms are beautifully maintained with a charming heritage feel, yet still comfortable and clean. The staff truly made the experience exceptional—warm, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile. A special mention to Yaduvir, the Customer Service Manager, who was incredibly helpful and went above and beyond to ensure a smooth and pleasant stay. The rooftop restaurant is a highlight in itself. Enjoying delicious food while overlooking the lake and City Palace was unforgettable. It’s the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring. If you’re looking for an authentic, peaceful, and scenic stay in Udaipur, I highly recommend Jagat Niwas Palace. Would definitely stay here again!

It was a good place. It is one of the shittiest places now. Another place ruined by Instagram. Earlier it used to be peaceful and calm, now there are so many people here and hence the staff do no care about you. The food is good. But even when you eat people will be standing next to you to click a picture in the view. A lot of people were shouting and talking loudly in gujrati. Honestly one should avoid this, there are 20 other restaurants with the same view and windows.

My stay at Jag Niwas Guest House in Udaipur was absolutely wonderful. The highlight of the experience was the excellent service and warm hospitality, especially from the manager Vinu, who ensured everything was perfect from check-in to check-out. He is extremely polite, helpful, and always available to assist with any request. The rooms were very clean, well-maintained, and comfortable, providing a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Housekeeping service was prompt and efficient, and fresh linens and towels were provided regularly. The staff was courteous and always ready to help with a smile. The services offered were impressive — assistance with local sightseeing, taxi and transport arrangements, travel guidance, and flexible check-in support. The rooftop pure vegetarian restaurant deserves a special mention for its tasty food, hygienic preparation, and pleasant ambiance with beautiful city views. Room service was quick and well organized. The location is perfect, close to Lake Pichola, Jagdish Temple, Bagore Ki Haveli, and other major attractions, making it very convenient for tourists. Overall, Jag Niwas Guest House delivers great comfort, excellent service, and true Rajasthani hospitality. A big thank you to Manager Vinu and his team for making the stay memorable. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Udaipur!

Jagat Niwas Palace was one of the highlights of our stay in India. The hotel itself is beautiful — a peaceful heritage property right on Lake Pichola with stunning views, charming architecture, and a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. It feels authentic and intimate, yet everything is run with great care and attention. What truly made our stay special, however, was the exceptional service in the restaurant. Dinesh and Laxman looked after us throughout our stay and turned every meal into something to look forward to. They were attentive, warm, and genuinely kind, remembering our preferences and always greeting us with a smile. Their hospitality felt personal rather than formal, and they created such a welcoming atmosphere each time we sat down to eat. It’s people like Dinesh and Laxman who transform a lovely hotel into a memorable experience. We are so grateful for the care they showed us and hope the management recognises what wonderful ambassadors they are for the hotel. We would happily return to Jagat Niwas Palace and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Udaipur.

I visited Jagat Niwas Restaurant mainly for the lake view, which was undeniably beautiful. However, the overall experience was extremely disappointing due to the staff behavior. The person taking orders (I believe his name was Jainnder, though I’m unsure of the exact spelling) was particularly rude, and unfortunately, the rest of the staff was no better. We specifically requested a table with a proper lake view, but were told the tables were full and asked to sit at a spot with no view at all—defeating the whole purpose of visiting. His tone made it seem like we were being forced to eat first and only then might get a better spot, which felt disrespectful and purely money-driven. We ended up waiting for around 30 minutes, especially because we had already faced multiple unpleasant experiences in Udaipur and didn’t want to take another chance. When we requested other staff members, they behaved arrogantly, as if they owned the place, even though we were paying extra (₹70 for a bottle, including ₹20 additional charges) just for the experience. It felt like customers were not valued at all. In contrast, I had a much better experience at Khamma Khani Restaurant the previous night, where the staff was polite, pricing was fair, and they treated customers with respect. Overall, despite the great view, I would not recommend Jagat Niwas due to the poor hospitality and rude staff.

I had the pleasure of dining at the restaurant in Jagat Niwas Palace during my visit to Udaipur, and it was an unforgettable experience. Set against the backdrop of the serene Lake Pichola, the restaurant offers a stunning view of the city and the majestic City Palace. If you're looking for a meal with a view, this is the place to be. While the pricing is on the higher side, it's completely justified by the quality of food, the beautiful setting, and the overall experience. Dining here feels like being treated to a royal feast, making it well worth the visit. Thanks for looking after us.

This was unfortunately one of the most overhyped restaurants in Udaipur. We had made a prior reservation 2 days early, specially requested the waitstaff to accommodate our request to be given a lake side seating in a traditional Rajasthani seating style, the waitstaff staff had acquiesced to our request at the time. However, it was a different story when we reached the hotel. We weren’t given the spot that we had requested, were asked to wait and when the time came to sit on the table we were given different seat from what was promised(which was not even a lake view side). When we raised this issue, the wait staff simply dismissed us and asked us to sit at the available seating which was away from the one we requested. This experience severely marred our expectations with the hotel. Maybe the stay experience would be different but I’m reluctant to try it after this experience. On top of it, the food menu has limited options. It’s better to eat at a place which has better food options and amazing view.

The overall experience was quite disappointing. The staff is not trained at all—even basic restaurant arrangements and proper cutlery were missing. When we asked for things, they either took too long or didn’t provide them properly. Drinks were served in water glasses, which clearly shows the lack of basic service standards. They don’t even have proper crockery, which is quite surprising for a place like this. The staff’s behavior was also very unprofessional and inattentive, making the experience even worse. The menu has very limited food options, so there isn’t much variety to choose from. On top of that, there were a lot of mosquitoes around, which made it uncomfortable to even sit and eat peacefully. Coming to the food, it was below average in taste and definitely not worth the price. Overall, the place might look aesthetically nice and is okay for clicking pictures, but when it comes to food, service, and overall dining experience, it is one of the worst places I’ve visited.
