Went to this restaurant for the first time, and the biryani was exactly like Muslim veetu style, rich in flavor and absolutely yummy. Among the Egmore and Parrys area, this one surely stands out. Raitha: Fresh and tasty ✅ Brinjal gravy: Decent, but could be better. Semiya kesari: Slightly low on sweetness, but still can good. Pricing was reasonable and worth it for the quality. Overall, a very satisfying biryani experience. Definitely worth trying. Chicken biryani - 270/- Mutton biryani -350/-

October 2025 visit: ✅Parking: limited car parking space is available. There is a security to guide for parking . Bike is preferred ✅Ambience: took me to early 2000s vibes. Well spaced non ac restaurant ✅Service: Token system where you pay at reception first and then sit down at table . Staff are polite and friendly 🔥Food: This restaurant specialises only in biriyanis and chicken 65 in a wedding style. We ordered mutton biriyani and chicken 65 . We got served in a big banana leaf , followed by good quantity of delicious semiya sweet , onion raitha, brinjal kuzhambu . Everything was in good quantity and great taste The star of the menu is mutton biriyani which had succulent soft mutton pieces in basmati rice with perfect masala . We dint even need brinjal as side dish as the biriyani itself was so delicious! Chicken 65 is typical and dint disappoint Overall , a real hidden gem for mutton biriyani lovers and I wholeheartedly recommend this humble place to friends and family for their mutton biriyani cravings ✨Kindly mark this review as HELPFUL to help others with such elaborate reviews

Mutton Biryani ( 370 Rs ) is Not worthy for the money we pay. For this price point, 3 small bone pieces are provided with little meat, that 3 is for namesake alone. Taste is little okay but not that much for the hype. Worst experience, as I searched and visited this place based on YouTube reviews .

The taste of Kalyana Bhavan biriyani is still good and enjoyable, but I feel that its quite not the same taste when I was in childhood. A nostalgic spot with tasty biriyani, though the flavours have slightly changed over the years.

Bro, seriously, I don’t get the hype behind this restaurant! The chicken biryani was decent, but I won’t comment on the mutton biryani or any of the other side dishes. Chicken 65 looked appetizing, but the taste? Nahhh. One thing I did notice—their regulars have clearly been visiting for a while; the waiters seemed to have a good rapport with them. Overall, not the best spot in Chennai when you compare it around!

Good biryani, though not something extraordinary. The chicken 65 was the star really tasty! Service was friendly and the sides were good. The ambience could be improved a bit, but overall a nice place to try.

Hello respective team, Today (28th Feb 2026 at 1.10 PM), I had mutton biryani which is not hot. I have doubt about the briyani prepared on previous day. Therefore, I have asked to supervisor (Noor), his respond is zero customer care and briyani also not good. Trust, served briyani is prepared on previous day. However, you should not be served previous day briyani to customer and I will not be raised to the food department also. This is not money related and customer health issues, you have to take care customer health serve your food. I am bring your notice the supervisor behaviour and food serve. Trust of Kalyana bhavan is missed.

Paid ₹390 for a mutton biryani that was not worth the price. The quantity was very low, the mutton pieces were hard and poorly cooked, and the taste was disappointing. No AC facility either. Overall, a poor dining experience and not worth the money.

I had mutton biryani (₹350) & chicken 65 (₹230). The mutton biryani was absolutely amazing. It had 3-4 mutton pieces which were soft, tender & succulent. The rice was subtle in flavor and was very good. It was a proper bhai wedding style biryani. It was not served hot though since I went for dinner which was an issue. The 65 was very average in taste and it was oily. The pieces were hard and small in size. It was definitely not worth the price and was very poor overall.

The recent experience was disappointing. The mutton biryani, priced at ₹390, did not meet expectations—the meat quality was not tender, and the quantity was limited to only a few small pieces. Similarly, the chicken biryani at ₹310 included just one piece, which felt inadequate for the price. Overall, the taste and value for money were not satisfactory. Customers expect quality and portion size to justify the pricing, especially considering the effort behind earning and spending. In comparison, options like Zaara Biryani and SS Hyderabad Biryani offer better taste and value. It would be beneficial to improve both quality and portion standards.

Looking at youtube I travelled all the way to taste this biriyani, ordered mutton biriyani, quantity was sufficient but then as portrayed taste was not so great. It's an average biriyani only. Infact meat was also less and for 390 rupees it could have been better

Very poor attitude from the cashier. He didnt print the bill but was asking me for the bill details. Quite cheap attitude as I didnt see any basic human decency from him. Mutton biriyani was pretty good but the pieces were less and a little overpriced for the meat quantity. The rice was very well made and eatable. The time to give me the parcel was pretty quick and that's amazing work

I had a very disappointing experience at Kalyan Bhavan Biryani. The overall ambience was extremely poor. It is a non-AC place, which made it uncomfortable, and basic hygiene was lacking — even the hand-wash gel was served in what looked like a sauce container, which felt unhygienic and careless. We ordered mutton biryani, but the food arrived very late. When it finally came, the biryani had hardly any meat — it was mostly bones. When we questioned this, the staff did not respond properly. Their attitude was rude and dismissive, as if they didn’t care whether customers ate there or left. There was absolutely no sense of customer service. To make matters worse, we were charged ₹370 per plate, and the total bill came to ₹740, which is completely unjustified for the quality, quantity, and service provided. The food tasted bad and was not worth the price at all. Overall, this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. Poor ambience, bad food, rude staff, and overpriced dishes. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

I recently visited this place specifically to try their biryani. Upon arrival, I discovered that the chicken biryani was already sold out. So, my friends and I ordered mutton biryani. The ordering system requires you to pay first, receive a token, and then hand it to the server, who brings you the biryani. The only positive aspect of the mutton biryani was its generous quantity for Rs. 330. The mutton pieces were well-cooked, but unfortunately, the rice was dry and burnt. Receiving burnt biryani rice was a significant disappointment, especially for a restaurant that should have the means to avoid such mistakes, as the burnt rice was visibly apparent. From taste to presentation, the dish was a complete waste of money. The only item we enjoyed was the kesari, served on banana leaves. Overall, I cannot recommend spending your hard-earned money at a place that lacks customer satisfaction. As we hadn't had breakfast, we ate the food because we had already paid for it. Although the server offered to bring more rice to replace the burnt portion, this does not excuse the initial poor service. The owner should train their staff on how to properly serve a Rs. 330 mutton biryani. I suggest avoiding such establishments. The only thing I recommend at this place is the chicken 65.

Hotel Kalyana Bhavan seems to be iconic, but I wasn’t very impressed. I felt it was a bit overpriced because the taste was just average. The service was above average, as the staff was happy to serve more. However, there was an argument with another customer who found something in their food, which lowered my impression of the place. We tried the mutton biryani, which cost around ₹350. Overall, it’s worth trying once—it’s not bad, but a bit overpriced.

This shop is somewhat waste of money... Flavour of mutton biriyani is good but the quantity is not even comfortable for one person if you eat a lot... Guys do not prefer this shop the cost of mutton briyani is 390, the other good briyani shops who cost exactly this price is SS hyderabad, Kader bhai ,.,etc are atleast have a very great quantity... This one really disappointed me a lot.. Their slogan is 'kalyana veedu pol briyani' - but no second rice, no proper mutton piece, no AC also... Avoid at all cost!!!!
