TLDR: EXCELLENT location, clean rooms, nice staff, meh breakfast.
The location of this hotel could not be better. Situated across from the citadel and on the edge of the old town, there is constant activity in the event spaces and it is a very short walk to the historical buildings, shops and restaurants.
Uzbekistan send like a very safe place and the location here is no exceptions. We never felt unsafe and when the events were happening there were gates to get into the area, metal detectors and police every few meters.
There is a nice courtyard in the middle of the building and it looks like they work hard to keep the place clean in the common areas and the rooms.
Rooms are clean and comfortable, with daily housekeeping, but two negatives:
1. The safe does not operate the normal way, so good luck getting your stuff in sand out. We had to have the front desk open it with a master key, so we gave up
2. There is a doorway threshold between the bathroom and the bedroom that is quite high and seems like it was designed to stub your toe on.
The staff are super nice, a bit shy and quiet but very nice and their English is pretty good.
The breakfast buffet is just okay, but there is enough there to get you through until lunch.
