Best thali and traditional rajasthani food in Udaipur! The staff was so kind and explained how to eat and what food can be eaten with what. It was like a food tasting experience. The appetite was full but their serving never stopped. Few dishes was mouth watering with the desi ghee. We went to this restaurant for dinner during our visit to Udaipur. Food was delicious and service was good! It was very crowded due to peak season. Overall the food was fantastic and authentic!! Would highly recommend if you are visiting Udaipur and want to try daal baati churma!!!The food was top notch and quality was good. One spot experience. Went here for a Traditional thali & it was a real good experience. Authentic rajasthani food served in pattal. Welcome drink has a rose water followed by a Thali consisting of Gatta sabzi, ker sangri, Two types of Dal, white kadhi & one more stuff. Four types of chutneys along with chaas. The best thing is – waiters will tell you the combination & sequence of how to eat , first with Makai puri, then with Pakora rice, then Bajra khichdi. Food is really good though I think it a slightly overpriced. Thali costs 840 including Taxes which I think is a little too overpriced. All in all still recommended! 8/10 experience. Lost points for the pricing.

The Ambience & Hospitality The atmosphere at Traditional Khana (Panchwati) is warm, refined, and deeply rooted in Rajasthani culture. What sets them apart isn’t just the décor, but the hospitality. The staff doesn’t just serve; they guide you through the meal—explaining the history of the dishes and the traditional way to mix them (like crushing the Bati with Ghee and Churma) to get the perfect flavor profile. It truly feels like a "guided food meditation." The Highlight: The Royal Rajasthani Thali The Unlimited Royal Thali is a feast for the senses. • The Football Bati: Their most iconic feature is the massive, football-sized Bati baked traditionally over Kanda (cow dung cakes) for hours. It’s served broken into pieces and generously—almost endlessly—soaked in pure Desi Ghee. • Unique Sabzis: Don't miss the Chakki ki Sabzi (made from wheat gluten) and the Gatte ki Sabzi, which is incredibly soft and melts in your mouth. • Dhakolma Poori: This spiced, oversized poori is a unique specialty you won't easily find elsewhere. • Sides & Sweets: The Smoked Buttermilk (Chaas) provides a refreshing balance, and the Chulhe ki Rabri or Badam Halwa are the perfect traditional endings. Quality & Preparation The taste is authentic and "clean" because they use in-house masalas and avoid synthetic colors. You can tell the dishes are slow-cooked, giving them a depth of flavor that modern restaurants often miss. Local Guide Tips • Go Hungry: This is a heavy meal. The thali is unlimited, and the hospitality is "insistent"—they will keep topping up your Ghee! • Timing: It gets busy during peak hours. Arriving around 7:00 PM usually helps with easier parking near Panchwati Circle. • Price: Expect to pay around ₹700–800 per person, which is excellent value given the variety and quality of ingredients like pure cow ghee. • Shopping: They have a small counter outside where you can buy their in-house Chyawanprash, Ghee, and Mukhwas.

"Unforgettable Experience at Traditional Khana Restaurant! I'm still under the spell of the authentic Rajasthani cuisine and warm hospitality at Traditional Khana Restaurant. The food was a flavor explosion, transporting me to the royal courts of Rajasthan. Every dish was a masterpiece - from the rich dal bati to the delicate Ker Sangri, each bite was a testament to the culinary expertise. But what truly elevated the experience was our server's passion and knowledge. They took the time to guide us through each dish, explaining the perfect combinations and eating techniques. It was like having a personal guide to the world of Rajasthani cuisine! And the ambiance? Magical! The live folk singing and dance performance was the icing on the cake, immersing us in the vibrant culture of Rajasthan. The energy was infectious, and I found myself tapping my feet to the beats. Kudos to Traditional Khana Restaurant for creating an unforgettable experience. If you're looking for an authentic taste of Rajasthan, this is the place to be! 👏"

Tried lunch at Traditional Khana Restaurant yesterday, and it turned out to be a very disappointing experience. The space itself feels dated and overly ornate—heavy gold-toned walls, bulky wooden seating, and low tables that make dining uncomfortable. It could really use a thoughtful renovation. Unfortunately, the food was far worse than the ambience. Everything we tasted was excessively loaded with ghee and sugar, with very little balance or flavour. To make matters worse, our papad had a dead mosquito in it—completely unacceptable from a hygiene standpoint. What’s most concerning is that both my daughter and I have been unwell since—vomiting and diarrhoea—which raises serious questions about food safety. This was not just disappointing, but genuinely distressing. Would strongly recommend avoiding this place.

If you’re craving a truly authentic Rajasthani dining experience, this restaurant is an absolute gem. From the moment you step in, the traditional ambiance sets the tone—warm hospitality, vibrant décor, and a cultural touch that instantly transports you to Rajasthan. The highlight, of course, is their Rajasthani thali. Every dish feels thoughtfully prepared and deeply rooted in tradition. From the rich and flavorful dal baati churma to the perfectly spiced gatte ki sabzi and ker sangri, each bite reflects authenticity and attention to detail. The use of desi ghee enhances the flavors without overpowering them, giving that true homely taste. What makes the experience even more special is the way the food is served—generous portions, continuous refills, and staff that genuinely encourages you to eat to your heart’s content, just like in a traditional Rajasthani household. The sweets, especially the churma and traditional desserts, are the perfect ending to a fulfilling meal. Overall, this place is a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy a genuine Rajasthani thali. It’s not just a meal, it’s a cultural experience that leaves you satisfied and nostalgic.

Traditional Khana Restaurant offers an authentic Rajasthani dining experience with rich, traditional flavours and a warm cultural ambience. The food is delicious, beautifully served, and truly reflects the essence of Rajasthan. The staff is courteous, attentive, and makes you feel genuinely welcomed. The only drawback is that the prices are on the higher side, making it a bit expensive compared to other local dining options. However, if you’re looking for authentic Rajasthani cuisine and a memorable cultural experience in Udaipur, it’s definitely worth visiting at least once.

We tried the traditional Rajasthani thali here and it was truly an experience. Each item was served with care, and the staff took the time to explain what everything was made of and how it’s traditionally eaten which made the meal even more special. The flavours were authentic and memorable. Highly recommend if you want to experience true Rajasthani cuisine.

Much hyped eatry, pays good commission to tour guides and taxi walas but quality is average. The environments is not as high as the cost of the food. Better quality traditional food is available on much cheaper price in Udaipur. Washing area was a let down. I was shocked to see separate arrangements for desi tourists and tourists with white skin. The waiters were attending after repeated calls. Paid INR 3360/- for four persons.

I recently visited Traditional Khana, a Rajasthani cuisine restaurant, and my experience was not particularly impressive. The ambience felt rather dull, with very little effort put into creating a warm or royal dining atmosphere. Food was served on leaf plates and bowls, which, while different didn’t quite justify the “traditional” theme for the price point. At ₹800 per person, I expected something more refined perhaps a setup inspired by royal Rajasthani courts, like silver or at least well-designed plates and cutlery, rather than basic leaves. The food itself was extremely heavy, dominated by dishes made mostly from besan (gram flour) and pulses. While it might be considered authentic, it felt more like a deep dive into old grains and flours than a balanced Rajasthani thali. The flavors didn’t stand out for me most items tasted too similar. The khichdi was confusing, almost like a sweet kheer with jaggery, sugar, and ghee, which I personally didn’t enjoy. Although the restaurant advertises an “unlimited” thali, the servers were reluctant to give second servings of dishes you liked, as they were more focused on serving the fixed rotation of multiple other items. This left me feeling restricted rather than satisfied. Overall, I found the meal overpriced for the quality and taste. It might appeal to those looking for a very traditional, flour-heavy Rajasthani spread, but for me, the experience didn’t match the hype. Personally, I would not recommend it, though some might appreciate the unique flavours more than I did.

"A truly royal experience in Udaipur! Traditional Khana serves the most authentic Rajasthani food I've had. It’s wonderful to see the second-generation owner personally working in the restaurant, ensuring every guest is well cared for. The staff is incredibly respectful, addressing every customer as 'Hukum,' which makes you feel like royalty. The ambiance is pleasant and warm—definitely add this to your Udaipur itinerary!"

This place is excellent in every respect. The food, service, environment.. They only serve traditional rajasthani thaali, explaining each dish and the way it should be eaten. The staff is very polite specially the owner. The owner visits every table, meets each guest and asks about their experience. I went with my wife and toddler girl. After dinner he asked us where we're from? How was the food? Did the child liked? As a sweet gesture, he packed 2 churma laddoo for my child to eat later. It was an evening to remember.

They’ll charge you a hefty price for a single thali per person. The food was also below average. We kept asking for water, but it was never served. The only redeeming feature was the welcome drink. Everything else was a complete waste of money. We even found two strands of hair in one of the bhaaji. This place is not worth visiting. The owner, an elderly man, is incredibly rude and treats you like you’re paying nothing. Many other families have had similar negative experiences. If you’re looking to waste money, plan to visit this place.

We went to this restaurant for lunch during our visit to Udaipur. Food was delicious and service was good! It was very crowded due to peek season so there was a little wait time. Service could have been faster but because of the crowd it was little delayed. Overall the food was fantastic and authentic!! Would highly recommend if you are visiting Udaipur and want to try daal baati churma!!!

Our visit to this restaurant in Udaipur turned out to be quite unpleasant. We were a group of four and chose to order two Rajasthani thalis, considering the portions were large and the menu was fixed. At first, everything seemed fine—the staff served us normally and even encouraged us to try the dishes. But the situation took a turn when a bald, heavy-set man, who seemed to be the owner, came up to us and spoke in a loud and disrespectful manner. He accused us of “sharing” and insisted that we would be charged for four people. This confrontation happened in front of other guests, which was embarrassing and unnecessary. On top of that, the staff began directing our friends on how to eat, which felt intrusive and made us uncomfortable. The food itself didn’t meet expectations either, adding to the overall disappointment. Given the rude behavior and the awkward situation, we chose to leave without continuing our meal. Overall, not a place we would recommend if you’re expecting courteous service and a relaxed dining experience.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ Khamma Ghadi Restaurant, Udaipur Khamma Ghadi offers a decent experience if you’re looking to try traditional Rajasthani food in Udaipur. The ambiance is quite nice and gives a cultural, heritage vibe that feels welcoming, especially for tourists. The staff is polite and generally attentive, which adds to the overall comfort. Coming to the food, it’s good but not exceptional. Some dishes are flavorful and authentic, while others feel a bit average and could use better seasoning or freshness. Portion sizes are reasonable, but the pricing feels slightly on the higher side compared to the taste delivered. Service can also be a little slow during peak hours. Overall, Khamma Ghadi is an okay place for a one-time visit to experience Rajasthani cuisine, but there’s room for improvement in food consistency and value for money.

Authentic Rajasthani Thali Review The Rajasthani thali is a vibrant, flavorful representation of Rajasthan's rich culture and culinary traditions. The thali typically includes iconic dishes like Dal Baati Churma, Gatte ki Sabzi, Ker Sangri, It’s served with a variety of rotis, pickles, chutneys, and cooling chaas (buttermilk), ending on a sweet note with desserts like Ghewar or Moong Dal Halwa. Each dish reflects the state’s arid climate and resourceful cooking methods, using bold spices, lentils, and grains. The flavors are rich, earthy, and well-balanced, offering a satisfying mix of spice, sweetness, and tang. Overall Experience: A 5/5 culinary journey through Rajasthan’s heritage—authentic, hearty, and unforgettable.
