Haa Dhaalu Kulhudhuffushi, often called the "Heart of the North," is one of the largest and most vibrant islands in the Maldives. Known for its rich cultural heritage and dynamic community, Kulhudhuffushi is famous for its traditional craftsmanship, particularly the Maldivian mat weaving (Thundu Kunaa). The island has undergone significant development, including an airport that connects it to other parts of the Maldives. Its mangroves, or "kulhi," are an ecological highlight, adding to the island's natural beauty and biodiversity. Kulhudhuffushi offers a mix of modern amenities and traditional charm, making it an essential part of the Maldives' northern landscape.

Best island ever!

Kulhudhuffushi City is the economic capital of the northern Maldives. Residents of the city and surrounding settlements are mostly employed in the service or produce sectors; such as the local Saturday Market. Saturday market is a market which is held in every Saturday at "Bandaara road" Kulhudhuffushi, where local farmers products and domestic food is available. Hundreds of islanders of Thiladhunmathi visit for shopping and business to kulhudhuffushi City mostly on Saturdays. People from the island are known and famous for construction work, blacksmith works, producing coir rope, building boats and working in cargo vessels. The culture of the island have its own uniqueness until now.

A place of my interest

Kulhudhuffushi (Dhivehi) is the capital of Haa Dhaalu Atoll administrative division on Thiladhunmathi Atoll in the north of the Maldives. Kulhudhuffushi is known as the "Heart of the North". The island is famous for its mangroves (kulhi), after which the island itself is named. The island is one of the biggest and most populous islands in the Northern part of the Maldives. People from the island are known and famous for shark fishing, blacksmith works, producing rope, building boats and working in cargo vessels. The culture of the island have its own uniqueness until now. In the years 1812, 1819 and 1921, the island was affected by heavy rains and storms, causing substantial damage. The island was also affected during the Key Lakunu storm which lost half the population of the island. Since then the island has been famous for unity and hardworkers around the Maldives. The ancient people of the island of Kulhudhuffushi were famous for the courage and bravery during the wars fought against the enemies of the nation. Apart from that, people of Kulhudhuffushi led the whole atoll Thiladhunmathi in a rebellion act held against the male government during 1940s because of the injustice governance for the people of north at the time.

Kuzey Atoll'ün başkenti olan bu ada tam bir yere adamdır ve gezgin yada turist bulmak neredeyse imkansızdır. Ortalama 2500 kişinin yaşadığı adada 3 tane okul,1 hastane, 1 kapalı spor salonu, 1 büyük açık stadyum.6-10 arası market vardır. Buradan başkent Male'ye yolculuk yaklaşık 12 saat sürmektedir. Bilet zor bulunuyor bu yüzden şehir merkezinde ki marketlerden bilet temin edebilirsiniz. Kulhufudishi Adasında 2 tane Okulu ziyaret ettim. Öğretmenler Maldivli,Japonya'lı,Hintli ya da Endonezya'lı olabiliyor. Son derece bilgili ve eğitimli öğretmenlerden, öğrenciler Son derece güzel bilgiler ediniyor. Oxford Clyybus eğitim sistemini takip eden okullarda ki 12 yaşında ki bir çocuk akıcı derecede ingilizce konuşabiliyor. Adaya haftada 2 ya da 3 sefer yapılıyor. Restaurant seçenekleri arasında bir kaç Restaurant ve Pizza'cı var ama beklentileri düşük tutunuz.
