We visited Shif Island recently during a trip to Bushehr, and it ended up being one of the most memorable parts of our journey. The road to get there is an experience on its own; driving through the sea, with water on both sides, feels surreal and peaceful at the same time.
As soon as we entered the island, everything slowed down in the best way possible. The narrow alleyways, the old homes full of character, and the way people live there; it all had a beautiful sense of nostalgia. You can feel the history in the walls, but it’s not just about the past. The people make it feel alive.
Locals were incredibly warm and welcoming. One of the fishermen even offered to take us for a boat ride, just out of kindness. It wasn’t a touristy spot at all, and that’s exactly why it was so special. The beach was quiet but full of life; you’ll see fishing boats rocking gently, kids running around, and people living their everyday lives.
Don’t go there expecting signs or attractions or polished spots. Just walk, look, listen; and enjoy the calm beauty of a place that hasn’t tried to become anything other than what it truly is.
If you're in Bushehr and want to see something peaceful, Shif is absolutely worth the visit.
