Leela doesn't disappoint - this hotel is definitely a place to stay, relax and explore. Gorgeous grounds from your room balcony and Lake Pichola views - what more can you ask for? Nima was fantastic - took care of everything from arranging tuktuks, dinner reservations, sightseeing guidance - you name it. Gym, sauna and steam were great. Spa was fantastic as well. Breakfast and dinner were splendid - definitely worth trying the food at the hotel.

Extremely attentive, caring, and went out of his way to make our stay comfortable. He even took such sweet care of my son and surprised us with a thoughtful gift, which meant a lot. Also, the restaurant manager at Sheesh Mahal was equally impressive. His service, attention to detail, and hospitality made our dining experience truly memorable. To begin with, we received a very warm and heartfelt welcome—rose petals, a refreshing drink, and smiling faces from every staff member set a lovely tone for our stay. Our room was allotted immediately, and the team took the time to show it to us. We did request an upgrade, and the staff showed us a plunge pool room as well. However, we truly loved the originally allocated room with its beautiful lake view. The view from the balcony was mesmerising, though the seating area and table were unfortunately dirty due to pigeon droppings, which ideally should have been cleaned beforehand. That said, the room and bathroom themselves were well-maintained and comfortable. We went for a stroll around the property, which is very pram-friendly—a big plus for families. We also enjoyed the complimentary high tea. It was nice to see the staff constantly maintaining cleanliness around the fountains and surroundings, and they were always helpful. One miss was the turndown service, which wasn’t provided—something we assume may have been overlooked. Dinner was booked in advance. The ambience, view, and service were excellent, and the live instrumental music truly elevated the experience. However, the food was average. The starters were decent, the veg biryani stood out as good, and the desserts were just okay. Breakfast, on the other hand, was excellent and well enjoyed. During checkout, we shared our feedback, and the staff were genuinely apologetic. They also gave a thoughtful parting gift for our infant—a beautiful soft comb made from organic wood—along with incense sticks, a holder, and a 2026 calendar. They kindly invited us to return for a complimentary lunch to make up for the dinner experience. The butler even came all the way to the parking area to assist us. The boat ride to and from the property was quite enjoyable, and valet service at their parking area was smooth. The only inconvenience we faced was not being informed in advance that parking is at a designated area and that guests need to reach the hotel via boat. We initially tried to reach by car, and the narrow, congested lanes made it quite challenging. Overall, while there were a few hiccups, the hospitality and thoughtful gestures from the staff stood out.

The Leela Palace Udaipur is undeniably a special place. The location on Lake Pichola is stunning, and arriving by boat makes the experience feel unique from the very beginning. The boat ride around the lake was one of the highlights of my stay. However, considering the price point, I expected much more. The room felt quite dated, with dark interiors, old curtains, and an overall atmosphere that was not as comfortable or luxurious as I had anticipated. I was also disappointed by the level of cleanliness, particularly in the bathroom and around some of the room details, where more attention was clearly needed. That said, the staff was consistently warm, professional, and attentive throughout my stay, which I truly appreciated.

As an international traveler who has stayed at some of the finest luxury hotels across Asia, my stay at The Leela Palace Udaipur was a profoundly disappointing exercise in paying a colossal premium for a deeply uneven experience. I booked a Lake View room for three nights at a tariff that frankly outstrips even the legendary Oberoi Udaivilas and Taj Lake Palace, and left feeling mildly cheated. The property itself is architecturally beautiful, a modern palace with stunning lake vistas, but no aesthetic charm can salvage an aura entirely destroyed by the staff. The hotel proudly markets itself as Udaipur’s only modern palace hotel by Lake Pichola, but for a foreign guest seeking a true sense of place, the fact that this is not an actual historic palace quickly becomes hauntingly apparent — it’s a glossy, purpose-built structure that lacks the soul and story of its heritage competitors. The real rot, however, runs far deeper than the building's provenance. I was genuinely shocked to repeatedly encounter personnel who reeked of cigarette smoke, and on multiple occasions I dealt with staff who were visibly intoxicated, slurring and unable to provide even basic adequate service. It was humiliating to witness this at a so-called ultra-luxury address. The property is good, genuinely so, but the staff have single-handedly ruined its aura and are dragging the Leela group's hard-earned fame through the mud. When you ask for assistance and are met with glassy eyes and the stench of stale smoke, no amount of opulent décor can salvage the experience. The problems began at check-in. Despite a confirmed arrival time, our room wasn’t ready for over an hour, and the labyrinthine corridors meant a long, uncomfortable trek from the lift with luggage, something never warned about. Service, so often praised in marketing, was wildly inconsistent: restaurant orders came wrong twice, and in-room dining took over an hour on a quiet evening. With staff in such a state, it was no surprise that mistakes were rampant. Then came the wedding. A large destination celebration took over the property for two of our three days. The relentless bass of a soundcheck thumped through our supposed sanctuary, workers and decorators swarmed the public walkways, and the signature lake views were partially blocked by event scaffolding. Privacy felt like a joke, and it’s impossible to relax when a hotel prioritises a commercial function over its paying leisure guests. I later read about the widely reported court case where staff entered an occupied room using a master key — and suddenly my own unease about housekeeping protocols, combined with what I'd seen of the staff's fitness for duty, made horrifying sense. Facilities are simply too small for a hotel of this calibre. The gym is a cramped afterthought, the pool deck has limited seating and its adjacent plunge pool had murky water with visible filtration issues, while the spa was undergoing maintenance that nobody mentioned at booking. The food ranged from forgettable to worrying: premium prices for average dishes, and I personally witnessed hygiene shortcuts at breakfast that no five-star should permit. I’ve stayed at the Taj Lake Palace and visited friends at the Oberoi Udaivilas. Both deliver far greater emotional and experiential value for money, with genuine heritage, impeccable service, and a serenity The Leela sorely lacks. Unless you want to pay a fortune to be served by inebriated, smoking staff while overhearing wedding rehearsals and eating mediocre room service in a pretty but soulless building, look elsewhere. This wasn't luxury; it was a letdown, and a shameful stain on the Leela name.

船で行くホテル。 到着前から期待感が高まります。 Welcomeフラワーシャワーとドリンクで感動しつつロビーに入ったらプージャでお出迎え。 チェックインはソファに座りながらゆったりと。 至る所に水に浮かぶ生花が飾ってありリゾート感満載。 お部屋に入ったらいい香りがして癒やされます。 テラスからはレイコビュー。パレスや山が見えるし爽やかな風が吹いていて気持ちが良いです。 夜は至る所にキャンドルが灯され幻想的な雰囲気になります。 中庭では生歌演奏とダンサーによるショーが行われ目の前で鑑賞できインドを感じられます。 目の前に遮るものがないのでサンセットも良く見えます。 スタッフは皆親切でオーダーにも快く答えてくれます。 とにかくリラックスしゆったり出来る所です。

We requested a night boat ride and were assured by the staff yuvraj that after dropping off the dinner guests, we would be taken on a short ride towards the lake. However, after prioritizing the non-resident guests, yuvraj has changed his words and the promised ride never happened. The issue was not the ride itself, but the fact that a clear commitment was made and then not honored. Disappointing service and poor follow-through for in-house guests.and then Itisha another staff communicated however no resolution, that was also waste of time.

Preparing for a wedding party - 100s of builders, very noisy very late into the night. Abishek sorted the problem for us very quickly by finding us a place far away from the mayhem to allow us to continue and enjoy our stay. Everyone was so kind and helpful - The hotel is amazing, great food.

Unfortunately, I can’t give it less than one star: two weeks before arrival our travel agent got a message from them saying that we should get alternative accommodation. The reason? They have a weeding and need all the rooms, so I guess it was not only us but every other booking they had for those days. We had made our reservation about 5 months ago. Getting a hotel of similar characteristics (quality, location…) two weeks before arrival is complicated and, at best, more expensive than booked well in advance. I can use many words to describe this attitude, many of them not for publication, we are furious. But let’s use unprofessional, disrespectful, absolutely no regard for their customers…They may be very nice of you stay there, I don’t know, but it clearly shows that if they can get more money, they will drop you like a hot potato. Shameful.

Beautifully decorated and great views of the lake. Excellent service all around but particularly Juned in the gym and Sangita who look after us at dinner. Actual gym facilities could do with upgrading and AC. Only steam room, no sauna etc.
