My academic journey at Maulana Azad National Urdu University has been truly enriching and inspiring. I joined the university in 2017 and completed my M.A. in Public Administration in 2019, where I gained valuable knowledge, guidance, and academic exposure. The supportive environment and dedicated faculty of the Department of Public Administration played an important role in shaping my understanding of governance and public policy. Motivated by this strong foundation, I enrolled in the PhD program in Public Administration in 2023 to continue my research and academic journey. I am proud to be associated with such a prestigious institution and will always cherish the knowledge and experiences gained here.

Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) in Hyderabad, established in 1998, is a distinguished Central University named after India’s first Education Minister, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. Faculty are highly qualified, often holding PhDs, and the teaching style is engaging, though some administrative processes could be streamlined. Overall, MANUU is an excellent choice for students seeking quality education with a cultural emphasis on Urdu. Its blend of tradition and modernity, robust academics, and inclusive environment make it a unique institution in Hyderabad’s educational landscape.

Therefore, while MANUU reflects modern India’s educational development and institutional expansion, Manu represents ancient philosophical and mythological thought, and the resemblance between the two is purely coincidental. Overall, MANUU can be seen as an important educational initiative that bridges traditional language heritage with contemporary academic needs, playing a significant role in expanding access to education across India.

MANUU is a central university that focuses on the Urdu language and offers many courses in arts, sciences, and more. The campus is large, with good facilities like a library, hostels, and sports areas. It supports students from all backgrounds and celebrates Urdu culture. However, there are issues like slow administration, fewer job opportunities, and some maintenance problems.

Today (13-02-2026), at the back side gate of Maulana Azad National Urdu University, I had a very bad experience with the two security staff on night duty. They allowed some other people who came after me to enter from the side, but they did not allow me. When I asked politely why they were sent and why I was not allowed, the security staff started scolding and speaking very rudely. This kind of behavior is completely unprofessional and disrespectful. I request the university management to take immediate action and ensure that all visitors are treated fairly and respectfully.

Very good opportunity for Urdu background students as well as school background students..the main aim of this University is promotion of urdu.100% hostel facility for girls.if you want to take admission in this University you must have a Urdu knowing certificate in class 10th/12th, other wise you are not able to take admission. within campus a polytechnic school is running .MANUU also provide CSE coaching free and also provide hostel facility of each student.

This is Central University having various faculties and departments as well as several satellite campuses across the country. In a short time it has got its identity in a quality education.

On 13-02-2026, at the back side gate of Maulana Azad National Urdu University, the two night duty security staff behaved very rudely. Others were allowed inside, but I was stopped. When I asked the reason, they scolded me. Very unprofessional behavior.

MANUU is central government aided university, lush green campus and highly accomplished modern infrastructure. The central park just after the main gate is the main attraction of it’s beauty. Urdu is must in school level certificate like 10th or 12th to get into this beautiful university. University has satellite campuses in various parts of the country. Students get opportunities to work with MNC in IT hubs of Hyderabad. University is in close distance from Major financial Centers and technology parks of Hyderabad like HITEC city, financial district, Cyberabad, Gachibowli, T-Hub.

13-02-2026 – Back side gate security (night duty) at Maulana Azad National Urdu University was unfair and disrespectful. People who came after me were allowed, but I was denied entry. Asking for clarification resulted in rude language.

MANUU stands out as a beautifully maintained, culturally rich, and academically solid institution offering affordable education in Urdu across a range of disciplines. While its nurturing faculty and infrastructure shine, the placement cell could benefit from stronger industry connections, particularly for non-Urdu-centric programs. Ideal for students passionate about Urdu education and cultural immersion, though those prioritising tech-driven careers may need proactive placement strategies.

This university sits right in the middle of the city, but you’ll barely find any local Hyderabad students here. The few who are, usually keep their heads down to survive. Lecturers walk around with superiority complexes, talking down to students like they’re doing a favor by teaching. Respect for students? Zero. If you try to report their behavior, they’ll make your life miserable — expect harassment, bias, and endless trouble. The admission process is shady — looks like they deliberately keep seats “free” so they can sell them later through backdoor entries to those who can pay a fat amount. Most of the students come from lower or middle-class families chasing dreams, but the place trains them to stay quiet and obey like a circus, not to think or question. There’s no real freedom, no healthy communication — just fake discipline and ego-driven faculty. At the end of the day, if someone genuinely wants to gain knowledge, they’ll somehow push through all this nonsense. But honestly, it’s a mental battle every day. Same story as many so-called “central universities” — same mindset, same toxic system.
