The location is a bit off for ordinary public, since it is very close to a famous politician's residence. There are check-points on all sides & everyone is asked where they are going at each point. Parking is an issue. Since it was my 1st time, I came by metro & walked. I guess thats the best way to come here. Someone had said that the waiting area was very hot & there was no AC. I arrived at 6.10pm on 3rd May. One of the hosts, quickly switched on the AC. Since this was the top floor, it took some time for the AC to take effect. Then it became comfortable. Sitting space has been increased from "4 boxes", mentioned by someone else. They are trying their best with whatever limited options they have. Atmosphere is nice. They can improve on the sound quality because it was going up & down regularly. Overall, a good experience. Venue is on the 3rd floor. Lift holds only 2 persons & goes till 2nd floor. Wait area is ok. It looks a good venue.

Medai – The Stage, Chennai is located in a slightly posh area, so you might be asked by policemen about your destination, but once inside, it’s a pleasant experience. The venue is well-suited for stand-up comedy shows, short plays, and intimate performances. Seating capacity is moderate — not huge, but comfortable enough for a cozy audience. The lighting and sound setup are good, which really enhances the stage experience. You also get the chance to meet performers after shows, and the overall aesthetics make it a nice spot for photos. In short, a good place to attend or even host small-scale events in the city.

Last week, we had the pleasure of attending an event at this venue, and it was an good experience. The air conditioning was highly effective, maintaining a comfortable atmosphere even as the venue filled up. The lighting was expertly arranged, creating an engaging ambiance that perfectly complemented the event. The sound system was crystal clear, providing good audio quality that made every word and note resonate. Additionally, the seating was good and very comfortable, allowing us to enjoy the event without any discomfort. Overall, it was a well-coordinated and enjoyable experience. 🌟

May 2025 visit report: Parking: has few two wheeler parking. 4 wheeler parking is limited to 3 cars inside the compound common for bunch of establishments sharing the compound. Road side parking is not allowed as Chief minister Stalin lives couple of blocks away. You have to park somewhere away and walk to the venue. Trust me on this if it’s packed show or back to back show . I saved you lot of time Public transport: ironically Difficult to reach as it involves walking 1km from Teynampet metro or at least 600m walking from nearest bus stop Accessibility: Medai is in 3rd floor but life is only till 2nd floor but as of this visit, the lift was closed. So be ready to climb up 3 floors Waiting hall: has a bench and four boxes to sit for this 90 odd capacity mini hall. There is AC but it was NOT turned on during our visit. We were all sweaty from climbing 3 floors and waiting in stuffy hall Performance hall: front half of the hall is flat and back half of the hall has stepped up theatrical style elevation . If you are sitting in front half, we prepared to stare at the back of the person before you. Pro tip: sit at the back half . Also there is a squeaky staircase which leads to a top view kinda spot but it detaches away from live interactions Comfort: AC , sound , lighting in performance hall is just perfect. Seats are really uncomfortable even for average built person like me.i am used to music academy seats but this seat makes it difficult to sit beyond 40 mins. Also to note, seats are not fixed. It’s just like seats we put in marriage hall . Overall, from performer perspective, this can cater to small number of audience . From audience perspective, the parking, hiking on staircase , waiting hall, seat comfort etc should be improved . Kindly mark this review as HELPFUL to encourage such elaborate reviews

The small stage and auditorium is enough for an intimate theatrical performance or stand up comedy. But the lift is extremely tiny and finally there is a flight of stairs to reach the auditorium, which is tough for people with mobility issues.

From outside, the building appeared to be like an old office, but once you go to the 2nd building and the floor as designated, it feels like a stage theatre, the fact that it is in the centre of the city is an added bonus! Parking might an issue but other than that, I’d say it was pretty well maintained.

Went here for a standup show and the show was good. But the place , stage and logistics are pathetic. 1. No ticket checking, random folks can enter 2. No elevator, mind you show happens in 3rd floor. More steps are there once you reach 3rd floor too. So elderly and physically challenged folks, please skip any event here 3. No parking available. Use public transport to reach here., plus the area is VVIP zone so no vehicles allowed via ttk road, only allowed through cenotaph road. If you can walk 1 km, teynampet metro is the option 4. Extremely small stage, tightly fits 70 odd people.

Visiting for the first time for a friend stage show. Didn't know there is a place for stage shows in the middle of hot Chennai city. Good one must visit. Anyone looking for small stage shows can reach out to this place.

The hall can easily fit 70-80 people and the people are also so nice and helpful. They're like really good hosts. I went for urooj ashfaq's show and she killed it! If you're seeing this go check her online💕💖

I had come here to watch Praveen Kumar's show, "Kancheepuram Maapillai". While the parking space was quite small as it had to be shared with other stores, the place inside was quite spacious. However, the seating doesn't allow shorter people to see the stage from behind

The stage, lighting, screen and sound system are good. Use the lift only if you're couple. It's kind of small.

Wonderful performance of students of Sriniketan Fine Arts, Tambaram, combined with amazing light controls. Was one of the best I've ever seen.

Five star despite the absence of parking and having to climb one flight of stairs (lift is only upto 2nd Floor. This is on 3rd floor) A one of its kind setting for an intimate event such as a chamber concert, stand up show, rehearsals etc. Amazing acoustics, and great facilities for video shooting with lights, cranes et al. In the specific event I attended (Angam concert by Madrasana today), I felt speakers weren't positioned well enough so I was not getting an even sound on both my ears (noticed this from two different seats I tried)

I was at medai for a stand up comedy event. It’s small but very well equipped. However, no one was keen on responding to my request of changing the AC temp. The room was terribly colder than one can imagine. Overall, I think the event and the ambience were able to overcome that little hiccup.

No parking. Parking on street with the. risk as it is CM's route. The stage height is low. We can't see the artists when they sat. The drama " Sangeetha Paithiyam" was very nice. Enjoyed it.

It is a very cozy place that can accommodate 200-300 people. There is very limited parking, so you should come in a cab. There is no lift to the 3rd floor where the studio is, so be prepared for that as well. The AC might get uncomfortable for people in the corner seats. I came here for Sahil Shah's standup comedy and it was laughter therapy from start to finish. If you are into standup comedies or theatre highly recommend checking this place out or their social media, such events are very regular here :)
