I actually liked this more than Bryant park. I thought the way they set up this market was very good for the flow of people, you can easily move around and it wasnt overly crowded. All the vendors were great, lots of unique gifts and souvenirs, and delicious food. I am still dreaming about the marshmallow hot chocolate and the birria grilled cheese.

this park is in the heart of it all! It is very nice and safe to walk around, but I do feel an abundance of homeless and people without employment are hanging around this area. It was a little frightening to see a children’s playground, and then a line of 20 men sitting along the edge watching the children play. Otherwise, nothing to complain about, lots of food and coffee locations in the area

The park itself is not big but is equipped with loads of benches. The ecosystem blends in with the hectic atmosphere of NY. The birds, squirrels and humans all coexist together in this place. Great place

This historic park was designed in 1872 by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, the designers of Central and Prospect Parks. It’s now a major and vibrant hub for both tourism and local life.

Union Square is a historic intersection and surrounding neighborhood in Manhattan, New York City, United States, located where Broadway and the former Bowery Road – now Park Avenue north of the Square[4] – came together in the early 19th century. Its name denotes that "here was the union of the two principal thoroughfares of the island".[5][6] The current Union Square Park is bounded by 14th Street on the south, 17th Street on the north, and Union Square West and Union Square East to the west and east respectively. 17th Street links together Broadway and Park Avenue South on the north end of the park, while Union Square East connects Park Avenue South to Fourth Avenue and the continuation of Broadway on the park's south side. The park is maintained by the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation. Opened in 1839 and redesigned in 1872 by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux to accommodate mass congregations of New Yorkers, Union Square Park has served as home base for countless community events and festivals-from the first Labor Day parade in 1882 to workers' rallies in the 1930s to the first Earth Day in 1970 to the current, wildly popular Greenmarket. This former burial ground has seamlessly transitioned from a town square to a bustling City park, and as such, it is the deserved home of statues depicting distinguished men like George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Mohandas Gandhi, and Marquis de Lafayette. Come see what the United States Department of the Interior has designated a National Historic Landmark and absorb the energy of past and present Union Square parkgoers.

I stopped by Union Square Park after work to relax and it was the perfect spot to unwind. The atmosphere is lively but not overwhelming, a good mix of people, music, and movement. You’ll see everything from street performers to locals playing chess and there’s always something interesting going on. The park is clean and has plenty of benches and shaded spots to just sit and take it all in. The green market nearby is a great bonus if you’re into fresh produce or handmade goods. Being surrounded by shops and easy subway access makes it super convenient too. Overall, Union Square Park is a great place to recharge and experience the real energy of New York City.

I was walking around this area and decided to explore this park. I have been here before a few times but today I paid more attention to the statues and other actives in the park. It is a nice size park and very very busy. People everywhere in clouding lots of vendors on the west side.

A heat place to visit. Even better on open market days. Plenty of seating and shade. Many nearby places to grab s snack and enjoy in the park. But, beware, pigeons and squirrels are glad to liberate you from your food so stay vigilant.

The sun was bright and surprisingly Union Square Is Park was empty. The farmers market’s stalls were there since the early morning. So were the chess and backgammon players - $5 to play a game of chess. No political rallies were on as this park is famous for having all kinds of protests. I enjoy coming here not only for the farmers market on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays but to walk through enjoying the scenery. Various shops surround the park and it’s lovely to sit on a park bench enjoying people watching.
