Visiting Mohenjo-daro is a truly humbling and enlightening experience. As one of the world’s oldest planned cities of the Indus Valley Civilization, it reflects the remarkable intelligence, discipline, and foresight of ancient human society. Walking among the ruins, you immediately feel the depth of history. The well-planned streets, advanced drainage system, and strong baked-brick structures show that this civilization was far ahead of its time. The Great Bath stands out as a symbol of social, cultural, and possibly religious life, highlighting the importance of cleanliness and community. The atmosphere is calm yet powerful. Standing there, one can’t help but imagine how people lived, worked, and organized their society thousands of years ago. Despite the harsh weather and the passage of centuries, the site still speaks loudly of human brilliance. Overall, Mohenjo-daro is not just an archaeological site. it is a lesson in civilization, planning, and heritage. Every student, researcher, and history lover should visit at least once to truly appreciate the roots of human development and the pride of Sindh and Pakistan.

Visited on 7th Feb, 2026, pleasant weather to see the site without scorching heat , after noon. The site has lots of human civilization history to observe , the well administered city , a role model for today's Sindh rulers , if their encestors have made marvelous city like that, why not today's sindhi rolers can ?? Hope they preserve this human civilization historical witness for the coming generations .

This is truly an unbelievable site. We were unable to enter on the first Sunday of December due to the Sindh Culture Festival, but returned the following morning (Monday) at 7:00 a.m. and had the entire place to ourselves. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and did an excellent job explaining how a 5,000-year-old civilization functioned, bringing the history to life in a way that was both engaging and easy to understand. For those who, like me, are native Karachi-ites: be aware that the journey to Larkana is about six hours. There are reasonable hotel options in the city, and if possible, I would recommend visiting the site around sunset—I can only imagine how stunning the views must be at that time. There were no security concerns during our visit. The site is approximately 30 minutes from the city. I’m attaching a few photos from our trip You will need 3 to 5 hours depending on how many sections you are going to visit. There is one upper site which needs about an hour and a half and another three hours to visit a couple of the lower level sites.

Really wonderful archaeological site, possibly the most famous landmark in Pakistan. I expected a much more stunning experience (particularly in case of the lacklustre museum), but definitely a must see.
