Nie jestem fanką cmentarzy, ale ten jest jednym z dwóch miejsc, które naprawdę mnie urzekają i tworzą niezwykły, niepowtarzalny klimat. Tysiące grobów tworzą swoiste miasto ciszy i historii. To miejsce ma dla mnie niesamowity nastrój. Mogłabym spacerować tam cały dzień i wciąż nie mieć dość historii.

I have to start by mentioning the entrance, as it got us confused on Google Maps. It’s just below the bridge on the right side of the road. The place itself is grand, with a lot of important people’s graves. The cemetery doesn’t feel like a cemetery, it’s like a museum you’re walking around. Not all the important graves are marked either on the map near the entrance or on Google Maps, but no worries, you can just walk around and find them on your own. Also, there were a lot of cats :)

Deze plek voelde voor mij bijna onwerkelijk mooi. Ondanks dat het een begraafplaats is en je het verdriet er ook voelt, bracht het mij vooral een diepe rust. Zodra je door de poort stapt, lijkt het alsof het rumoer van Parijs langzaam wegsterft en je een stille, bijna magische wereld binnenloopt. Tussen de indrukwekkende mausoleums en verweerde graven hangt een bijzondere sfeer; alsof elke steen, elk pad en elke hoek een eigen verhaal fluistert. Ik heb hier niet alleen gekeken, maar ook echt gevoeld. Een indrukwekkende plek die me nog lang zal bijblijven en die ik absoluut zou aanraden om te bezoeken.

If you're into exploring the great (and lesser) cemeteries of Europe, you won't go wrong by adding this to your list. It's a lovely walk and the cemetery is filled with notable artists, authors and entertainers. I had some trouble connecting the location of burial sites with the map located at the entrance but, if you have time, it shouldn't matter (they're not going anywhere :) )

Zugang über die Rue Rachel, gleich nach dem Eingang das beeindruckende Grabmal für Emile Zola, dem berühmten Romancier der Pariser Belle Epoque im 19. Jahrhundert, der aber in den Pantheon überführt worden ist. Weiter links hinten befindet sich das Grab von Victor Hugo, dessen letzte Lebenszeit er in seiner „Matratzen-Gruft“ in Paris verbracht hatte. Sein Gedicht am Grab ist sehr beeindruckend und in deutscher Sprache. Weiter hinten liegt die berühmte Tänzerin vom Montmartre, La Golue, „Die Gefrässige“, die zuletzt so dick war, dass sie nur noch im eigenen Wohnwagen auftreten konnte. Noch viele andere berühmte Persönlichkeiten haben hier am Fusse des Montmartre ihre letzte Ruhe gefunden. Am Eingang ist ein Schild mit ihren Grabstätten angebracht.

Plus qu'un cimetière, on découvre ce lieu comme un parc de 11 hectares situé dans Paris. Des sépultures originales par leur architecture bordent les allées. De nombreux personnages illustres et célébrités y reposent : J.C. Briali, Michel Berger, France Gall, Dick Rivers, Bertrand Blier, Jeanne Moreau, la Goulu qui incarne bien évidemment le quartier du Moulin rouge, Dalida et encore beaucoup d'autres. Certaines épitaphes méritent d'être lues avec attention pour leur "leçon de vie". Bref une visite incroyable. Prévoyez de bonnes chaussures (la tombe d'Alexis Godillot, entrepreneur et manufacturier français du 19e siècle qui inventa la chaussure droite et gauche ne vous échappera pas). A voir. Visite surprenante.

Un cementerio alucinante. Fuimos a ver solo las tumbas de Dalida y Agustín Gómez Arcos, pero nos quedamos dos horas paseando y viendo lápidas. Una experiencia maravillosa. Por cierto, hay unos baños justo a la entrada.

Der Friedhof von Montmartre ist ein mystischer Ort voller Atmosphäre, ein verwunschenes Labyrinth aus verschlungenen Wegen, alten Bäumen und kunstvollen Grabmälern, das mitten in Paris eine beinahe zeitlose Ruhe ausstrahlt. Zwischen moosbewachsenen Steinen und stillen Passagen begegnet man den Ruhestätten zahlreicher bedeutender Persönlichkeiten: dem eleganten Grab des Komponisten Hector Berlioz, der schlichten, würdevollen Grabstätte von Stendhal und dem beeindruckenden, kunstvoll gestalteten Grab von Émile Zola. Letzteres wirkt mit seiner markanten Büste und dem geschwungenen Denkmal fast wie ein Kunstwerk im Freien und gehört zu den eindrucksvollsten Punkten des Friedhofs. Jeder Abschnitt des Montmartre-Friedhofs erzählt seine eigene Geschichte, und gerade die Mischung aus Verfall, Schönheit und historischem Gewicht verleiht diesem Ort seine besondere, fast magische Ausstrahlung. Wer Paris abseits des Trubels erleben möchte, findet hier einen der atmosphärischsten und berührendsten Orte der Stadt. Ein Spaziergang, der lange nachklingt.

A must do . An insightful walk through French history . Many famous authors scientists politicians, have memorials here. The architecture of the memorials is amazing , reflecting monumental art of that particular era. It’s also peaceful and reflective . Above as the frantic city traffic races by, and people revel in the streets of Montmartre , here below people that once did those very same things rest eternally. The contrast to Myself couldn’t be more poignant.

Beeindruckender Friedhof! Man kann dort richtig lange Zeit verbringen! Echt interessant, noch nie vorher sowas ähnliches gesehen! Vor allem die gräber unter der Brücke

Grand cimetière ombragé, il y a un plan à l' entrée il y a de vieilles tombes, on peut voir Dalida, Jeanne Moreau, Michel Berger, France gall....

Le cimetière de Montmartre est rempli d'hisoire. Il est immense. Une carte est disponible afin d'admirer les tombes de plusieurs personnalités comme Dalida, Michel Berger, Emile Zola et bien d'autres. Petit bémol, le cimetière pourrait être un peu mieux entretenu.

Den Text konnte ich fast komplett von einem Vorredner übernehmen, weil er einfach so recht damit hat.... Wir wollten eigentlich nur zu dem Grab von Dalida und haben dann erst gemerkt das dieser Platz so viel mehr zu geben hat....

The Montmartre Cemetery left a deep impression on me. Walking among the resting places of so many renowned individuals, artists, writers, and thinkers was both humbling and thought provoking. It reminded me that no matter how high we rise in life, we all eventually return to the same stillness. There’s something powerful about standing in the presence of history, where greatness now rests in quiet dignity. The cemetery itself is peaceful, shaded by trees, and full of character. It’s not just a place of remembrance, but a quiet space for reflection on the impermanence of life and the legacy we leave behind.

Visitato il 29 agosto 2024, principalmente per vedere la tomba di Dalida seguendo le indicazioni e i percorsi del libro "Lettere d'amore da Montmartre". Ho trovato un cimitero con una connotazione molto più intima rispetto al più famoso e frequentato Père-Lachaise. Questo cimitero si integra benissimo con il quartiere circostante. Qui riposano anche altri personaggi famosi: Alexandre Dumas, Jeanne Moreau, Stendhal, François Truffaut ed Emile Zola. Essendo un cimitero molto antico in alcune tombe e camminamenti la natura ha preso il sopravvento rendendo la vista molto suggestiva. Ottima la visita durante un assolata giornata estiva per proseguire poi per il quartiere di Montmartre. Entrata libera. È presente un toilette anche se decisamente scarsa per igiene.

A large cemetery that’s worth seeing, spread over several levels and in the heart of paris. It has feral cats, beautiful tombs and is generally well kept without it looking sterile. A magnificent cemetery for a magnificent city. Entrance is below the bridge. Come and eat as sandwhich here

As a cemetery enthusiast, one of the best I have ever been to. Each grave is so beautiful and unique and holds so much history. It’s a very large cemetery so there’s so much to see! So many fun nooks to explore different views of it all. Not too many cats but that’s okay! I wish I could have spent longer here but just didn’t have the time. If i lived here or came back, I would love to take a longer stroll around, maybe find a bench with a pastry and some coffee and just enjoy the history of it all.

Il Cimitero di Montmartre è uno di quei luoghi poco battuti dai turisti frettolosi, ma che regalano un’intensa emozione a chi ama la storia, l’arte e la bellezza nascosta. Aperto nel 1825, è il terzo cimitero più grande di Parigi, dopo Père-Lachaise e Montparnasse, e si trova nel cuore del quartiere di Montmartre, incastonato sotto il ponte della rue Caulaincourt. Costruito su un’antica cava di gesso utilizzata durante la Rivoluzione francese come fossa comune, il cimitero è oggi un luogo sorprendentemente poetico e ricco di fascino: viali alberati, silenzio ovattato, tombe scolpite con eleganza e piccoli mausolei che sembrano opere d’arte. Qui riposano grandi nomi della cultura francese ed europea, tra cui: • Stendhal, autore de Il rosso e il nero; • Heinrich Heine, poeta tedesco; • Alexandre Dumas figlio, autore de La signora delle camelie; • Dalida, celebre cantante franco-italiana, la cui tomba è tra le più visitate; • François Truffaut, uno dei registi simbolo della Nouvelle Vague; • Émile Zola (anche se successivamente trasferito al Pantheon); • e molti altri artisti, musicisti e scienziati. La disposizione del cimitero è irregolare, quasi labirintica, e lo rende un luogo da esplorare lentamente, lasciandosi guidare dalla curiosità o dalle emozioni. È un posto che invita al raccoglimento, ma anche alla riflessione sull’eredità culturale e umana che questi personaggi ci hanno lasciato. Consiglio personale: visitatelo in una giornata tranquilla, magari con una leggera nebbia o al tramonto – il fascino aumenta. L’ingresso è gratuito e c’è una piccola mappa all’entrata che aiuta a orientarsi tra le tombe più celebri.
