This is a lovely mosque. If you go, please remember this is a place of worship and dress modestly. This is not a place for your Instagram photos. You take off your shoes to enter. There are some guys selling plastic booties at the entrance, but they charge crazy prices and you don't need them. Just take off your shoes. There are lots of cats and dogs hanging around.

This is an absolute MUST-VISIT! Don't miss it! The entry fee is around 450-550 EGP, but it's totally worth every penny. The site is massive, and you can easily spend half a day exploring the museums and the stunning mosque. The main hall of the mosque is incredibly cool and airy—I loved it! There are also drink stalls selling juice and coffee, plus a nice cafe on-site. Add this to your bucket list immediately! 🕌✨🇪🇬

مسجد محمد علي اما تدخله تحس انك دخلت الجامع الجديد او مسجد الفاتح في اسطنبول.. وده لأن محمد علي باشا كان واليًا تابعًا للدولة العثمانية، فكان طبيعي يبني مسجده الكبير بأسلوب يعكس قوة الدولة اللي بينتمي لها، وكأنه بيقول إن القاهرة جزء من الإمبراطورية العثمانية وده يثبت ان جمال المعمار قبل دخول الذكاء الاصطناعي كان قائم على الروح الإنسانية والحِرفة والخيال اليدوي ✨ كان المعماري بيشتغل بعينه وإحساسه قبل أي برنامج أو خوارزمية.. المباني كانت بتعكس ثقافة المكان ومناخه.. كانت بتحكي قصة — عن دين، عن سلطة، عن حب، عن مجتمع

Non serve essere credenti per apprezzare e godere di tanta bellezza, la Moschea di Muhammad Ali anche detta Moschea di Alabastro e un complesso religioso adiacente alla Cittadella del Cairo. Storia lunghissima e ricca di successioni, vede in primis Muhammad Ali che all'interno vi è sepolto in una stanza chiusa da parte finemente intarsiate che lasciano intravedere la salma, entrando subito e destra. Edificata ispirandosi molto alla Chiesa di Santa Sofia di Istanbul proprio ad insistere omaggiarne la grandiosità e a voler definire una pace raggiunta con l'impero ottomano che ha dominato anche l'Egitto e che fu definitivamente scacciato in quel periodo. Ingresso a pagamento, calca e controlli di sicurezza sommari. Cortile antistante la moschea ospita una grande fontana una volta adibita all'abduzione dei credenti musulmani prima dell'accesso all'edificio per la preghiera. Ora spenta rimane un bel monumento di essa. Nello stesso cortile la "torre dell'orologio" detto dai locali "l'orologio della fregatura" perché donato dai francesi in cambio dell'obelisco che è a Parigi in Place de la Concorde. La fregatura? Non ha mai funzionato. La moschea e bellissima, finemente decorata e con una enorme cupola centrale, lampadari concentrici ed un'area riservate alla preghiera. Davvero bella nel suo complesso. Obbligatori calzari da acquistare ad 1€ per l'ingresso oppure bisogna togliere le scarpe.

The Mosque of Muhammad Ali is one of the most iconic spots in Cairo, and honestly, it’s impressive from the moment you see it. Sitting high inside the Citadel, the views alone already make the visit worth it. You can see a big part of the city from up there, and on a clear day it’s beautiful. The mosque itself is elegant, grand, and very harmonious. The interior feels calm and spacious, with soft light, big chandeliers, and a peaceful atmosphere despite how popular it is. It has a very different vibe from older mosques, clean, balanced, and almost regal. If you are visiting remember to dress modestly (covered shoulders and legs). If you’re not dressed appropriately, there are coverings available at the entrance. It is better if you go earlier in the day or near sunset for better light and fewer crowds. Take your time in the courtyard, the views from there are underrated and perfect for photos. A guide isn’t mandatory, but having some context helps you appreciate the history and why this mosque is so important. Also be mindful of people offering “extra help” or photo services—nothing inside requires it. Overall, it’s a must-visit in Cairo. Beautiful, well maintained, and very symbolic. A place where history, architecture, and views come together perfectly. Calm, powerful, and absolutely worth your time.

너무나 아름답고 환상적인 장소, 역사적으로 종교적으로 가치있는 장소. 볼거리도 많고 구경할 것도 많아요. 옆에 박물관 직원들도 매우 친절했고 전시물도 많았어요. 모스크에는 결혼을 준비하는 신랑 신부들이 많이 있었는데 신부 친구들이 입으로 내는 호루라기 소리는 인상 깊었어요. 앞으로의 날들을 축복하고 행복을 기원하는 소리라네요. 그리고 이 동네 고양이 너무 귀여워요!

Realmente me impresionó muchísimo, está inspirada principalmente en la mezquita azul en Estambul y si realmente la mezquita azul es más bonito que esto, el día que la vea, se me saltará una lágrima. Esta mezquita es de una belleza única. Miré al techo la primera vez y apenas me lo podía creer, creo que fue uno de los momentos más especiales de todo mi viaje a Egipto, ya que no esperaba algo así. Gracias a la guía me contó un poco más sobre la cultura árabe y como funcionaba un poco todo y no hizo más que elevar mi experiencia.

Llamada tambien Mezquita de Alabastro,situada en la parte más alta de la Ciudadela. Desde alli tendrás una maravillosa vista de El Cairo( se ven tb las pirámides de Guiza). Su construcción tardó 27 años(1830-1857). Es majestuosa,imponente.Fijate en el reloj del patio (intercambio de Luis Felipe de Francia porr el obelisco que se encuentra en la Plaza de la Concordia en París,...pero,... el reloj nunca funcionó) No te la pierdas si visitas El Cairo

觀光氣息濃厚的清真寺，不用拖鞋穿鞋套即可，外面有人都塞鞋套一雙$10埃及幣，清真寺內有人拍婚紗（新娘還是要把頭包起來）有人準備婚宴場地佈置。旁邊有一個鐘樓大伯送的，但是很快就壞掉了，埃及送了法國一個房間杯，得不償失。

La moschea è stata costruita con Marmi prelevati dal rivestimenti delle piramidi quindi èbrucoperta di Marmi antichissimi e finemente lavorati. Gode di una vista sul cairo che consente di vedere quasi ogni angolo della città e fare foto mozzafiato. La.moschea internamente é meravigliosa...ricordate di levare le scarpe prima di entrare. Dopo la.mosche consiglio di possa visitare il museo delle armi, nello stesso complesso ed incluso nel costo del biglietto per la cittadella.

ALBASTER MOSQUE: A Glimpse of Grandeur That Calls Us Back During our brief three-day visit to Cairo, time was precious and every hour mattered. Among the many historic sites on our list, seeing the great citadel complex and its magnificent mosque from outside was still an unforgettable experience. Even without entering the monument, the sheer scale and visual power of the structure left us deeply impressed. Standing at a distance on a normal working day, we watched daily life moving around this timeless landmark — traffic flowing, people going about their routines, and above it all, the grand domes and elegant minarets rising proudly against the Cairo sky. There was something profoundly moving about witnessing a monument that has silently observed centuries of history, rulers, and civilizations. The massive stone fortifications and the commanding hilltop location make the complex appear both protective and majestic. The mosque’s large central dome and slender minarets add grace and beauty to the strength of the fortress surroundings. Even from outside, the architecture speaks of vision, power, and artistic excellence. It felt like standing before a living page of history. Although we could not go inside this time due to our tight schedule, the experience only increased our desire to return. Some places do not need long visits to make an impact — their presence alone is enough to inspire curiosity and respect. Next time we visit Cairo, this will certainly be one of our first stops for a detailed exploration. Seeing it from outside was memorable; seeing it from inside will surely be unforgettable.

يُعد جامع محمد علي باشا، المعروف أيضاً بـ "جامع الألبستر" (المرمر)، أحد أبرز المعالم التاريخية في القاهرة وأيقونة معمارية في أفق العاصمة المصرية. يقع الجامع في أعلى نقطة داخل قلعة صلاح الدين الأيوبي. تاريخ البناء والتصميم تاريخ التأسيس: بدأ العمل فيه عام 1830م بأمر من محمد علي باشا، واستمر البناء حتى وفاته عام 1848م، حيث دُفن في ضريحه الموجود بالركن الجنوبي الغربي للجامع. الطراز المعماري: صُمم على الطراز العثماني (التركي) على غرار جامع السلطان أحمد في إسطنبول، وقام بتصميمه المهندس التركي يوسف بشناق. سبب التسمية: سُمي بجامع الألبستر لأن جدرانه الداخلية والخارجية مكسوة بألواح من رخام الألبستر (المرمر) المستخرج من محاجر بني سويف. أبرز المميزات المعمارية المآذن: يمتلك الجامع مئذنتين شاهقتين هما الأعلى في مصر، حيث يصل ارتفاع كل منهما إلى 84 متراً. القباب: يتوسط المسجد قبة مركزية ضخمة بقطر 21 متراً وارتفاع 52 متراً، يحيط بها أربعة أنصاف قباب. برج الساعة: يوجد في صحن الجامع برج نحاسي يحتوي على ساعة أهداها الملك لويس فيليب ملك فرنسا لمحمد علي باشا عام 1845م (رداً على إهدائه مسلة الأقصر الموجودة حالياً في باريس). المشكاوات: يحتوي الجامع على 365 مشكاة بعدد أيام السنة، وتتميز قاعة الصلاة بظاهرة صدى الصوت الواضح. معلومات الزيارة (توقعات 2026) الموقع: قلعة صلاح الدين، حي الخليفة، القاهرة. مواعيد العمل: يومياً من 8:00 صباحاً حتى 5:00 مساءً (تغلق شباك التذاكر عادةً في الساعة 4:30 مساءً). أسعار التذاكر: تذكرة دخول القلعة تشمل زيارة الجامع، وتبلغ للمصريين والعرب حوالي 60 جنيهاً (30 جنيهاً للطلاب)، مع ملاحظة أن الدفع غالباً ما يكون بالكروت البنكية فقط.

Çok güzel bir camiyi ne kadar kötü yönetebileceklerinin kanıtı bir yer, içeriye ayakkabıyla sokmuyolwr ve fahiş fiyatla galoş satmaya çalışıyorlar. Sürekli bir turist kazıklama çabaları var.

真是雄偉的建築，只可惜許多燈具仍在修繕當中，否則拍攝的照片肯定更美。俯瞰開羅的市區，在夜晚應該別有一番風味吧！

It is beautiful to be at the mosque near sunset. The lights in the mosque were enchanting, adding to the beauty. The area outside is nice to chill and relax around. But the security can be quite aggressive when asking people to leave - like shouting and threatening. Seriously ruins the nice atmosphere.
