New Carrollton

New Carrollton Metro station is a well-connected transit hub serving WMATA metro trains, buses, Amtrak, and MARC trains. The station is normally easy to navigate, with clear signage directing you to each service. For the Metro, you’ll need to go through the fare gates and then either take the escalators, elevator, or stairs to reach the platform. It's great that there are multiple options for accessibility. The Metro runs every day of the week, starting at 5 AM on weekdays, and 7 AM on weekends, so it offers convenient options for early and late travel. In addition to the Metro, Amtrak and MARC trains have a separate waiting area with ticket machines, a small cafe, and vending machines, which is a nice touch for passengers waiting for longer journeys. The bathrooms leave a little something to be desired. The surrounding area is under construction so plan ahead and be patient while navigating your way around all the construction barriers. There is a parking garage on site. Overall, New Carrollton is a good station offering a variety of services with convenient amenities. Whether you’re taking the Metro, a MARC train, or Amtrak, it’s a reliable choice for commuters and travelers alike.

The place looks deserted specifically if you are traveling at night. The help desk/ ticket counter/ waiting area closes at 9:00 pm and had no working restrooms. It looks sketchy. The staff was really helpful, they helped me shift to a different train when my train was delayed by more than 2 hours. You can get metro bus and train close by.

I used Metro and Marc Here at this station. New Carrollton is one bus away from home for me. I can get to the airport with marc and anywhere esle with metro. The buses and trains are here for metro. Clean environment nice staff real helpful with directions to stops and to the trains. Definitely gonna be back

There's a lot of construction going on, but it's greatly improving the area around the station. There's ample parking, the station area is well-signed and easy to navigate, and this station offers great multi-modal transfers with Metrorail, Metrobus, MARC commuter rail, and Amtrak all serving this station. If driving, there's easy access to 50 and the Beltway.

They hold the trains too long. This is a connecting station to the MARC train and the commuter or other services. I have missed my commuter train because of Metro holding the trains at the lines

There is currently no parking available due to construction, and the station also has not provided another alternative for people coming to drop off or pick up loved one’s. There is only a pick and drop off dock for buses. Which put my mom and sister in a tricky situation trying to find each other at 7am in the morning. The parking process when there’s construction going on, needs to be refined and improved please, God bless.

Do not have to go to the bathroom. Portapottys are for drivers and the bathrooms are always out of service and when they are in service you can not use it unless you ride Amtrak.

MARC trains are usually late and in cold weather that sucks. The ride should be free of they're more than 10 minutes late. Right now this one should have been here 8 minutes ago and I still have 6 more minutes to wait.

Never have seen staff so rude and helpful in my life. Literally woman refused to answer a question . Wandered around 20 minutes looking for a bathroom with a medical condition. And two different staff members would not help me find or even answer if there is one.

Clean but there are no bathrooms so pee before you get here. Amtrack lobby is closed on weekends. 🙃

Officer Triplett was very friendly and helpful. My party hadn't been on the Metro in a long time so we were standing there at the ticket station looking dumb and he came over and asked where we were headed. He let us know we didn't need day passes for the weekend since we only needed one stop to and from. It ended up saving us 50% per ticket. Great experience.

I finally figured out how to use the short term hourly parking in front of the Kiss and Ride waiting area. None of the employees working in the area seem to know that you do not need to use a smart phone and a mobile app to park. The short term parking is physically set up to push people to use apps/cell phones. What you can do is take note of the little aisle number on the sign by each parking spot. Then you walk to the Metro Station entrance. Just before the entrance there is one forlorn little electronic payment column. It is not marked well and it doesn't say "pay station." But that's what it is. You use the screen to tap in your aisle number and the amount of time you want. Payment by credit card or coins. It offers a receipt, but won't actually disburse it. I did manage to park, though.

4:30 PM on Saturday the 14th of September. The absolute worst station manager I have ever encountered in the whole metro rail system. For whatever reason my “forever” card did not work and I was having trouble figuring out how to get money on it to work . While I was confused standing at the kiosk becoming frustrated I asked the manager for help. He did give me help but in a barking way towards me like I was a dog. I couldn’t believe that the manager actually told me “I am not going to do it for you”, I only asked for help. I was told that my card was dead and I needed to get a new card. That is fine, This guy was completely rude to me and now aware I was having trouble. His solution was to treat me horrible. I am not a tourist but these people who are managers need better customer service skills. Imagine a tourist visiting Washington DC and getting this same treatment. These managers are like ambassadors to the tourists. This guy was wild, completely rude with an obnoxious tone. Hopefully he reads this. Or his supervisor does.

Good station

They must do something about the homeless and all others that post themselves all day outside and within the station. The elevator smells of strong urine. Many, many years ago, it was very safe but now safety is questionable.

Decent metro. There always seems to be lots of people standing around...doing nothing outside. From a safety standpoint, there doesn't seem to be any issues, even though some of the clientele might not look too savory, lol. Lots of people waiting for buses out front. IRS police officers are normally present during rush hours on the overhead gangway, and normally there are police officers at the station or making their rounds around it. Decent meter parking for those who are conducting dropouts and a HUGE metro parking lot for those parking for hours at a time.

THEY HAVE TO do something about the homeless that are her from morning until night. I don't feel safe here. But other than them asking for change or someone holding up a sign about giving food the place is OK. Its in need of a serious up grade as well. But the highlight is the Cafe there. And the METRO personnel are not that friendly either. The MARC train personnel are pleasant. Please clear out the rif RAF and maybe it would be better. I'm tired of being harassed here.

Unfortunately, these public accommodations are old, miserable, and in need of an overhaul. This Amtrak facility does not have clean restrooms, working escalators or WiFi. This mini hub has the potential to be a bustling business area for commuters and its community.

After the safe track issue metro has improved a lot the service. Small delays. Its more reliable now. You can plan ahead and it actually works the plan. They closed at 11 now. And its more expensive. sometimes on the other exit some people ask you for money.
