This is my mothership. One of the best places to get design education in India/world. The practical knowledge you get at chai gate, classrooms and NIDUS. Join NID for summer workshop.

NID follows a unique, hands-on teaching methodology that emphasizes design thinking, innovation, and practical learning. The curriculum is structured around real-world projects, industry collaborations, and interdisciplinary learning. Students are encouraged to experiment with different materials and techniques, ensuring that their creative potential is fully explored. The institute fosters a culture of self-learning, where students work on live projects and gain exposure through internships with leading design firms. The faculty comprises industry experts and seasoned designers who mentor students to think beyond conventional boundaries. NID has produced some of the most renowned designers in India and globally. Some notable alumni include Prasoon Pandey, a well-known ad filmmaker; Imran Qureshi, a celebrated artist; and Arunima Sharma, a prominent industrial designer. These graduates have made significant contributions to their respective fields, elevating the reputation of NID as a premier design institute.

Premier institute for Design in India. The campus is good and is situated near the riverfront at Paldi. All the required equipments have been provided in the studios based on the discipline. The campus houses plush greenery and the temperature chips down with a difference of 3-4 degrees from outside.

The National Institute of Design (NID) in Ahmedabad is a prestigious institution known for its creativity and innovation in design education. The campus has a unique architectural charm with open spaces that foster artistic inspiration. However, for visitors, there isn’t much to explore beyond the academic setting. The entry is restricted, and there are limited public exhibitions or guided tours. While the environment is intellectually stimulating, the infrastructure in some areas feels outdated. Parking can also be a challenge. Overall, NID is a great place for aspiring designers and students, but for general visitors, the experience may feel underwhelming unless attending a specific event or exhibition.

Beautiful green campus of the prestigious institute on the banks of Sabarmati, in the middle of the city. One can feel the drop in temperature soon after entering the campus. Wonderful environment to mould the careers and rejuvenate creative juices in the talented minds of our future designers.

It is the best institute for designing in India, it is open for visitors on weekdays except for public holidays, you can also attend the convocation in the campus, it also has a studio Nidus where you can purchase the products created by students of NID. NID also provide designing workshops during summers.

Really good experience, staff was good. For students who are looking forward to go there for visiting purpose you need an ID proof(Aadhar card, pan card, etc.) compulsorily. After that you have to fill a out a certain form to get visitor's pass for roaming around the campus. There are certain rules that one cannot click photos, enter into hostel building or in any class rooms. The visit actually went great because of works showcase in those glass gallery.
