Nizwa is one of the most exciting cities in Oman. I spent two nights here and happened to arrive during the National Day, so the city was quite busy.
The souq, the fort, the Al-Aqur Wall, and of coursen the old town itself are the highlights you simply can’t miss. The city has a great mix of interesting cafés and restaurants, which add a lot of life to the area.
In the old town you’ll see a contrast of abandoned, crumbling houses and beautifully restored buildings, giving the area a very mixed but authentic feel. In the evening, the old town is beautifully illuminated, making it especially atmospheric.
