As part of my business, I visit Tbilisi frequently and have stayed at most of the major chain hotels in the city. In recent years, Paragraph Hotels have been creating a true evolutionary revolution in the local hospitality culture. Now Tbilisi finally has a real spa hotel with a genuine international feel — something that was sorely missing until now.
Until recently, the 5-star hotels in the city felt quite sectorial, with heavy, oligarch-wannabe design, cigar rooms, and other elements of outdated luxury — including the level of facilities. Paragraph brought something completely new: every one of their hotels offers a true resort experience, featuring huge spas and gyms finished to a level that simply didn’t exist in Georgia before.
My stay was clearly very soon after the hotel opened, and the excitement among the staff was palpable and truly contagious. The photos of the hotel speak for themselves, so I’ll focus mainly on my personal experience.
Location – for me, this is the hotel’s most significant advantage.
Perched on top of Mtatsminda (Mtabori), it overlooks the entire city from above. On one hand, it’s completely detached — sitting in its own green bubble. On the other hand, it’s just a 10-minute taxi or cable car ride to the city center. And yes — it’s entirely possible to come here and completely forget you’re in a city. In fact, this hotel makes you want to never leave.
Service is excellent. It’s clear there was serious training — the staff genuinely understand what service and hospitality culture mean.
We ate at the Italian restaurant on the lobby level and at the grill restaurant on the 4th floor — both were very enjoyable, with excellent cocktails.
The spa experience is exceptional. The highlight is undoubtedly the outdoor jacuzzis on the enormous terraces overlooking the city — no fewer than 5 on the treatment floor, plus one large one right next to the outdoor pool in a strategic location. Once more guests start arriving, I have no doubt this will be the most photographed spot in the hotel and will make the digital manager’s life extremely easy.
The spa treatment itself was excellent and ended perfectly: relaxing on an adjustable lounger with a selection of teas in the relaxation room, followed by a private jacuzzi dip, and then down to the amazing spa area that includes saunas, ice room, various pools, and more.
One polite request to the hotel management (as a guest):
In most local hotels, there seems to be a perception among staff that “the customer is sacred” and there’s almost no enforcement of inappropriate behavior that wouldn’t be acceptable in any public space — especially not in luxury hotels.
For example, it’s possible to sit in the sauna or jacuzzi with small children running around and going wild, people talking very loudly, or watching videos on their phones without headphones. For me, this significantly harms the experience.
I’m mentioning this because I believe the hotel is targeting a more Western/international audience, and I think it would be appropriate for the staff to pay attention to this issue and gently enforce basic courtesy rules in the shared wellness areas.
Other than that — truly excellent. Highly recommended.
