Disappointing Experience at Hotel Paras – Not as Advertised
I recently had a layover at Chandigarh Airport early in the morning and needed a place to rest for a few hours. Due to an overwhelming number of mosquitoes at the airport, it was uncomfortable to wait there, so I decided to book a nearby hotel.
After browsing through some photos and reviews online, I chose Hotel Paras. The hotel is approximately a 30-minute drive from the airport. Unfortunately, my experience from arrival to departure was far from what was shown online.
The exterior of the hotel was uninviting, with a dirty entrance and a closed, rundown shop on the ground floor that gave a neglected first impression. The lift was non-functional, and despite having two trolley bags, I had to call the reception multiple times before someone came to assist.
Though the check-in process was smooth, the initial room provided was very small and had a strong damp, musty odor due to seepage. I requested a room change, and the staff did offer a slightly larger, odor-free room. However, the entire hotel was filled with an overpowering artificial fragrance, likely from their floor cleaner, which was unpleasant and headache-inducing.
The condition of the room was below expectations: it was not properly cleaned, spider webs were visible, the door lock was unreliable, there were stains on the furniture, and the washroom fixtures were faulty. I attempted to rest but was constantly disturbed by loud phone conversations happening near my room. Despite calling reception multiple times, the noise continued, making it impossible to sleep.
The overall experience was disappointing. The hotel felt more like a personal residence converted into a budget lodge, and it did not match the online photos or descriptions.
Rating: 2 out of 5
I would not recommend this hotel for short stays or layovers.
